Spahn's Big Horn Mountain Bed & Breakfast is a bed & breakfast located in Big Horn.

The Bighorn region is usually passed over hurriedly by first-time tourists- an unexpected looming mountain barrier on the way to Yellowstone- but for those special folks who don't like crowds, condos, and curio shops this has always been a special place. Mountains to explore, Indian wars sites to discover, western lifestyle you thought was gone forever. . . and where else can you see one hundred miles from the window!

SPAHN'S is an traditional mountain lodge where guests are personally entertained in the relaxed style of an earlier time.

Guests are made to feel like part of the family and come away with a personal attachment to Sheridan and the Bighorn Mountains.

Guests socialize and compare their vacations and their lives with each other and the hosts each morning at breakfast and at the end of the day on the deck or in the great room of the lodge.

Guests are folks who prefer to explore and discover on their own, and as hosts Ron and Bobbie listen to plans and interests and make suggestions to facilitate those desires.

While our main purpose as hosts is to facilitate exploration on your own, there are some places that are just too remote or hard to find, and besides, some folks prefer to have a "native guide". So while we'll be telling all we can about where to explore on your own, there are some days when we load up the Suburban and put together a party to reduce costs and have some fun.

For those seeking active participation there is hiking, fishing, jeeping, horseback riding, golf, bicycling, auto touring. Spectator sports include rodeo, Indian powwows, polo, wildlife viewing, and birding. A day in town can include shopping, dining, museums and perhaps a little taste of the bright lights that evening. Guided activities include history tours, wildlife safaris, fishing guiding, and geology trips. Daytrips to area attractions visit Little Bighorn Battlefield, Bradford Brinton Memorial, Devils Tower, Bighorn National Forest, Pryor Mountain Wild Horse Range, Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area, the Medicine Wheel, the Hole in the Wall, Trail End Museum and Fort Phil Kearney.

Nearby restaurants include Big Horn Mercantile, Bozeman Trail Inn, and Brinton Bistro.

Additional details

Spahn's Bighorn Mountain Bed and Breakfast - Guest bedrooms in the main house have private baths and queen size beds. Secluded cabins have shower bathrooms and old-fashioned front porches. From the cabins its a five-minute forest walk to the big house for a gracious mountain breakfast hosted by Ron and Bobbie..

Ponderosa Room- Our premium room with cozy western furniture set off by the warmth of hand-peeled logs and country curtains. Queen bed, twin bed, outside balcony, 100 mile view. Attached private shower bath.

Aspen Room - Romantic vaulted ceiling bedroom with sunny dormer window seat. Queen size Victorian Angel bed with old-fashioned country quilts and ruffled curtains. Private shower bath. View through treetops overlooking Little Goose Canyon.

Spruce Room - Lofty dormer room high in the treetops overlooking the Sheridan Valley. Antique oak furniture with queen bed and adjacent private bath with stall shower and decorative old-fashioned clawfoot tub. Adjacent loft, separate from the room and open to the great room two stories below, accommodates up to three teens or older children.

Homestead Cabin - The Homestead Cabin was built for weekending when the kids were young and we still lived in Sheridan. There is a shower bath. It has a main room with a cozy sitting by the Franklin stove and eating areas and modest kitchen. Although cabin guests have breakfast at the main house with the other guests, there is a modest kitchen with linens and dishes provided. There is a first floor separate bedroom with a queen-sized antique iron bed. The second floor loft is kid-sized, but big enough for adults. It has two double beds. The cabin is located at the edge of the pine forest where the rangeland extends across the Sheridan valley and far into Montana. From the front porch you can see Sheridan fifteen miles away, and beyond far across the Crow Indian Reservation to a place that's one hundred miles away. It's a five-minute walk from the main house (or you can drive (!)), and there are no other inhabited buildings in sight except houses in the valley far below. The cabin is solar-powered. It runs on batteries that are powered by the sun.

Eagles Nest Cabin - The Eagles Nest Cabin is a tiny secluded romantic cabin located all by itself at the end of a ten-minute scenic forest trail. The cabin is situated in whispering pines at the upper end of a hidden canyon bounded on one side by sandstone cliffs. You can't drive there- we haul your luggage. The Eagles Nest Cabin is made to order for folks who appreciate the experience of a pristine mountain setting but don't care to give up the comforts of a hot shower and a queen-size bed. The cabin has a shower bath with hot and cold running water. Ruffled curtains and country quilts on the queen-size bed lend genteel atmosphere to the wilderness setting.
Outside on the porch are two chairs and a view to die for looking down through the canyon across the Little Goose Valley to the mountain ridge beyond. The Eagles Nest accommodates only one or two people. If they're feeling social they can join other guests in the main lodge or on the deck, but when it's time for solitude the cabin is a secluded retreat. Cabin guests have breakfast with the other guests in the main dining room.
