From the very beginning, I had a bad feeling about the staff at this hotel. They would glare at me and only talk to my boyfriend, not me. I was tagging along on a business trip with my boyfriend and his dog. While my boyfriend was working, I would either hang out at the hotel or take the dog for hikes in the surrounding area. About half way into our week-long stay, I was in the room with the do not disturb tag on the door. A man came into the room without knocking. I felt very violated. Because of the hostility I was already feeling uncomfortable about complaining.

The next morning at the breakfast, I asked my boyfriend if he wanted to ask about getting some shampoo for the room. He urged me to go ahead and ask. I went to the man at the desk who appeared to be the manager/ owner. I asked if I could please have some shampoo. He started yelling at me about not taking room service and accused me of smoking in the hotel. My boyfriend then jumped in and said that he had been going outside to smoke. He was still rude to my boyfriend. If you are a single woman, do not stay here.
Positives: Pets allowed.
Negatives: Threatening and agressive manager.

This is definitely a budget hotel. There was nothing luxurious about the room, but it was clean & adequate. The water was cold in the morning, but hot at night. We had to haul suitcases up & down a steep, narrow stairway to get to the room. Free breakfast weak coffee & packaged baked goods or sugary cereal. Not very healthy or nutritious. I've stayed at many other budget hotels for less money that were nicer than this one. Will stay somewhere else in future.
Positives: Room was warm, although the night was chilly.
Negatives: Stairs were steep & narrow, no elevator.

I would never stay there again.
Positives: Nothing.
Negatives: Wasn't clean. No coffee maker. Smelled. No 3 prong plugs. No clock in the room. Fire alarm broken.

I stayed on the second floor of the hotel part, and the room was beautiful! I was very impressed, and so was a friend who stayed down the street for much more money.
Positives: Great price for a perfect room.
Negatives: There was not a hair dryer in my room.

Get this! All I wanted was to shower and leave at 10:15AM. The cleaning staff was unable to come when I called because there are only 3 cleaning ladies for the whole complex. When they did come I showed them that I could clean the scum off the bathtub, and asked them to finish the job. Long story short- the manager said that's as clean as you get, blamed med for not checking out by 11AM and said I shouldn't stay there ever again. Enough said.
Positives: There were no locks on the screens so I could easily get through the window when the desk was closed for the night.
Negatives: The cleaning staff have only Fantastic and Windex and cotton clothes to clean with so there is no way to really clean the bathroom.

Kind of threadbare. The staff was nice but the room was stale and not clean enough. The pool looked nice but we did not have a chance to use it.
Positives: Location.
Negatives: Not clean enough.

Don't waste your money on this hotel. People were nice, but the place was dirty, paint peeling, first room smelled so bad we had to get a second room.
Positives: People were friendly.
Negatives: Dirty, old, rundown, rooms smelled.

It was hard to locate the hotel from the exit of the interstate highway southbound from Albany. The locales did not cooperate to locate that hotel nearby.
Positives: The restaurant/bar just beside the motel was cool and the food was so tasty.
Negatives: Unfortunately, the carpet in the suite was smelly and dirty.

The entire area of Kingston is mountainous so this hotel was on the top of a peak, hence the name. The public areas were under construction while we were there. The beds were comfortable and the shower was hot. It was as basic as you can get, TV but no HBO or pay per view. Breakfast was pre-packaged baked goods and orange juice. Coffee and cereal were available but you had to seek out Milk. There was evidence that the rooms had recently been renovated. For example the back of the bathroom door was not painted, the tiles looked new but the plumbing fixtures were old. Also, there was a distinct odor on all of the things we took with us that we recognized when we got home. It wasn't bad but it was as basic as you can get. We just needed a comfortable place to sleep with a hot shower and it gave us that.
Positives: The price and the view.
Negatives: It was under construction.

Staff was extremely friendly and lobby was nice. Continental breakfast was okay. Our room had an overpowering sweet scent. If you visit on a Friday or Saturday, parking may be a problem near your room as the next door restaurant has bands and the place fills up quickly!
Positives: Lobby was nice and staff was extremely friendly.
Negatives: `

While the Sky-Top Motel was adequate for our needs and the price was right, it did have some drawbacks: steep drive off the highway, not enough light or outlets, no hairdryer, no clock radio, thin walls, visible gap between door and wall.
Positives: Clean, affordable.
Negatives: Not enough light, no hairdryer, thin walls.

It was easy to find because it was summer, I'd hesitate to look for it on a winter's night, especially if there was weather". It is atop a windy hill road. Very friendly staff, room was clean, parking easy, it was perfect to sleep and shower in which is exactly what we did. Breakfast was coffee and pre-packaged Danish, fair enough for the price. Room was very clean, but smallish, while it had two big beds, four people in that room would've been very crowded.
Positives: It was very clean.
Negatives: The mattress had seen better days.

I would recommend this to people on a budget; it was very comfortable, pretty easy to get to - off the beaten track up on a ridge. This made the restaurant with good food in walking distance a plus. On the weekend the music blues and folk rock was very good quality. On this spring weekend, it was quiet. For families, in the summer there is an outdoor pool. Although staff responded to need for lukewarm water in shower it never got really hot. That problem is probably fixed, as staff seemed concerned.
Positives: Clean, comfortable beds, friendly staff, quiet even though close to good restaurant with live music.
Negatives: The hot water in our shower never got hot; continental breakfast was all sweet stuff.

The hotel staff was pleasant, but the hotel facility itself was a bit run down on the outside. The inside of the room had obviously been updated, but the smell of mold in our room was noticeable and the amenities were severely limited. The continental breakfast included with the room consisted of pre-packaged muffins and Danishes, coffee, and orange juice, so was of limited benefit for more health-conscious eating. I did not feel that it was a good value.
Positives: Easy to find location.
Negatives: Smell of mold in the hotel room.

The Sky top has a nice restaurant across the parking lot, rooms appear freshly redone, and the family running it are eager to please. The maintenance is a bit off, and one of the 3 non-smoking rooms smelled powerfully of stale cigarettes.
Positives: Huge sign, easy to find.
Negatives: Broken towel rack.
