This hotel is great if you are wanting to get away. It has a magical look at night and a sense of being in the country in the day. Very friendly staff. Rooms and hallways have older feel, in need of face lift, but clean. Parking was some distance from entrance, would be scary by yourself at night.

Positives: Driving up to the mansion at night is magical.
Negatives: Distance from large city.

I always stay here for Thanksgiving when I am visiting. I think it would be a beautiful setting for a wedding. Beautiful mansion and grounds.
Positives: Beautiful old mansion, lovely grounds.
Negatives: For a 2 night stay likely to have to change rooms.

This is a former Gold Coast mansion that has been turned into a first rate hotel and conference facility. It is a gorgeous setting and the staff is friendly and helpful.
Positives: The setting is beautiful and the facilities are great.
Negatives: I found the high speed Internet connection hard to use.

Beautiful grounds; stuffy front desk; every day of our 6 day stay the complimentary coffee bar (located in outside of the main dining room and across a hall from the front desk) operated poorly coffee was cold, 6 separate pitchers for milk, half & half, skim were consistently empty regardless of whether we came mid-morning or late morning. Also, one night we ordered room service for ourselves and 2 visiting grandchildren ages 4 and 6. The white cheese pizza was the worst we've ever tasted, and the Caesar salad was swimming in dressing.
Positives: Grounds.
Negatives: Stuffy front desk staff.

Good service but the rooms are far away from the front desk and it is so quite it felt uncomfortable.
Positives: Service was good.
Negatives: The hotel was totally dwad and felt like I was the only person there.

Negatives: No problems.

Very large hotel with nice rooms, pool, racket ball courts, ping pong, sauna, pool table. Because there was no conference going on the hotel had very few guests which was ok but it was a long walk to our room.
Positives: Staff was very friendly, beds were very comfortable and the room was clean.
Negatives: The hotel was very large with very few people there at this time. It was a long walk back to our room.

Great hotel with all the luxury facilities (whirlpool, pool, pool table, tennis courts, etc.). Friendly, courteous, competent staff. Our location was isolated (almost off-campus) and was not in the maintained current state that I believe the main campus rooms and buildings were.
Positives: Great location and great common areas.
Negatives: No fan in bathroom, hot water not constant, warped door.

Positives: Price/conference facilities, staff.
Negatives: Location/no service -bar.

We were placed in the back 40 acres, had to carry our luggage a long distance from parking, up and down 2 flights of stairs to get to the room. The toilet never stopped running; TV was not working properly, although we reported the matter several times. It was just frustrating.
Positives: The front appearance from the road was impressive.
Negatives: No service.

Very much enjoyed my stay. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Room was quite and comfy, big bathroom was nice. The hotel grounds were very nice, pools and fitness area was clean and looked clean and staffed with an attendant. Ample parking, lots of public and open space. Would stay again if I need to be in this area.
Positives: Historic feel and charm.
Negatives: Remote location, not too much around the town for dining.

Great out of the way Hotel. You definitely feel that you got you money's worth or more. Why stay at a carbon-copy hotel when you can have a unique experience. Five-Dollar cab ride to the Train Station so you can tour New York City made things easy.
Positives: Exterior and amenities.
Negatives: Slightly difficult to find room.

Parking stinks! There was allotting of children screaming and running in the halls. I did like the staff, they were all very professional. Although, they should have taken control of all the CAOS. For those of us not traveling with children it made the stay almost impossible. There were four other guests that did say to us they could not wait to leave!
Positives: Visually appealing.
Negatives: Rooms were not very clean.

I was slightly disappointed in the room after seeing the front of this magnificent mansion. The room looked fine, but the tub had no drain plug and there was some kind of grease in the base tub.
Positives: Beautiful old mansion - really gorgeous.
Negatives: I added another day and they had trouble connecting the two.

The Mansion itself if incredible, as are the grounds. The newer sections are very outdated and getting a bit shabby. Rooms are very big. Bedding needs updating. Many of the quaint features are quickly disappearing (fresh cookies in lobby, popcorn machine in bar). Owners trying to turn the old time charm of the attic put into a dark, lounge type space. Mistake, because these things are what made the place so special. Beautiful grounds and lots for kids to do there, but far from major roadways, NYC, etc.
Positives: The beautiful grounds and large rooms are terrific. Very historic feel to it.
Negatives: Location is very out of the way, unless you visiting people/places close by.

I was really unhappy with the rating of the hotel once we stayed. But it was paid for. It had an indoor pool that could not be used the first 2 nights and then it was cold when we could. It had an indoor bowling alley that was not in use. But it would only be for "business clients" had it been working. The book in the room did not have the same information. The pool table located near the courts was freezing. The heat was not working in that area. We loved the location and it was a beautiful design. It was an ocean view, indoor pool that was working and warm, covered parking, awesome game room with pool tables, and there was a stove, microwave and full size refrigerator in the room. It was larger than what we were in at Glen Cove. I would recommend that hotel before Glen Cove. I will make reservations someplace else next time!
Positives: The location was great to get the train into the city and visit family on Long Island.
Negatives: The indoor pool was unavailable at first, and then once it was opened it was freezing.

Great mix for business or leisure travelers.
Positives: Beautiful grounds seemed like being on a colleague campus excellent computer room, had racket ball courts.
Negatives: Distance from major highways.

Great place for an event. Hotel located in back is comfortable but should offer continental breakfast. Need to ask if before hand if big events are planned otherwise place is quieter and quainter.
Positives: Great location and grounds.
Negatives: Continental breakfast should be offered.
