Built as the home of Woodstock artist Jo Cantine, the house and magnificent setting reflect the artist's creativity and appreciation of nature. Great windows and doors were abundantly placed to capture the shimmering light and natural beauty of the Catskill Mountains. Cantine lived to be 94 and enjoyed a successful career, with shows at prestigious New York City galleries and museums, and a painting in the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Several of her luminous paintings, and her hand-painted furniture are displayed in the common room and bedrooms of the bed and breakfast. The Woodstock Country Inn was established in 1987. Renovations were made with a desire to allow for maximum privacy and comfort for guests, while maintaining the charm and ambiance of a 19th Century farmhouse.
