We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the bedding and overall feeling of our room. Common areas were shabby and without charm; especially the bar/lounge. Staff was very helpful and accommodating. Will seek out Omni Hotels when traveling.
Positives: Charming. Comfortable bed. Would like to try other Omni hotels.
Negatives: Run down common areas. Hotel bar zero warmth.

I prefer to not stay at this property again and cannot recommend it to others.
Positives: Comfortable sleep, beautiful River Views.
Negatives: No self-park, $18 mandatory valet parking, $10 Internet, run down.

Love going to the nearby Belle Island. Awesome for walking around. It's an island in the middle of the river. It's really close to this hotel as well. This hotel is fairly fair from Downtown Detroit. At least 2 miles. I was happy with my room. I wasn't happy that they made you pay for valet just to stay overnight and it was 15-20 bucks (off memory). I ended up parking down the street on the side streets. Overall not bad, a cop told me they don't check on weekends anyways for illegal parking there. There's quite a bit of parking on the street.
Positives: Close to Belle Isle. On the river.
Negatives: Valet parking, far from downtown.

Not too clean at all. Elevators and hotel needs a remodeling in the worst way. Location is the worst and must be removed from your downtown listing.
Positives: The river walk0
Negatives: Location, poor neighborhood and can't walk around.

The hotel does need updating, but our overall experience was good. Our room was clean, the staff very helpful and friendly, and the free shuttle to Comerica Park was great.
Positives: Very friendly staff.
Negatives: A bit shabby.

This hotel was obviously nice once upon a time, but has since then run down. The windows and roof leaked when it rained, the phone only rang in the bathroom, the room service menu was a bad single sheet xeroxed from the menu and did not even include breakfast.
Positives: Friendly staff.
Negatives: Run down.

They were filming a movie the night we stayed here. The entire hotel could use a good scrubbing and makeover. The location was wonderful. I would not consider this hotel nothing more than a 2 star.
Positives: River views.
Negatives: The hotel lobby and rooms need a major overhaul.

The Internet was not working even though we were told it was all fixed, the bathroom flush was not working, room service fixed it but it was slow in filling up the tank. We were told<BR/>at the hotel that there was valet parking only with addition dollars which will be added later on the bill.
Positives: Friendly & helpful staff.
Negatives: Valet parking charges not mentioned.

Great place to stay, very friendly and helpful people. Nothing negative under than the fact that it is far from every thing, that there is no pool, no Laundromat, and the restaurant menu doesn't have enough varieties.
Positives: Great friendly staff.
Negatives: Distance from downtown.

My girl friends and I stayed her for opening day and I really liked this hotel. They provide a shuttle to downtown events, although we took a cab to get down there quicker.
Positives: The hotel was gorgeous and rooms were large.
Negatives: No pool, a mile or 2 from downtown.

From Valet to front desk, we were treated great by everyone, Especially Brenda. I have told many friends how much I liked this place. I would love to stay there again. Next time, we are bringing friends!
Positives: This is the second time we have stayed there, and a great time both times!
Negatives: Wish it was a little closer to downtown.

I would recommend this hotel to friends and family. It was a very nice considering the price we paid for it. The staff was always very friendly and helpful.
Positives: Very friendly and helpful staff. The room was very nice and met our expectations.
Negatives: Very difficult to find. We didn't like searching for it in downtown Detroit..

After reading other reviews, I was a bit skeptical about the hotel, however, our experience was nothing but good. Hotel personnel upon our arrival were extremely friendly and helpful.
Positives: Quiet, relaxing, interesting.
Negatives: Some physical attributes appeared worn or shabby

Older model TVs, very small rooms and hotel is hard to find.
Positives: Secluded.
Negatives: Old fashioned.

This is an amazing hotel, probably the best I've been to. I like that they have a shuttle service to anywhere in a 5 mile radius, so we didn't have to remove our car from the valet.
Positives: It's very beautiful, the rooms are amazing.
Negatives: Paying for valet and internet. But we had them credited.

The stay was nice and fantastic aside from the valets. They drove my car extremely hard when it was cold, putting much undue stress on the car's components. Moreover, going from the parking lot, which is about 500 feet away, and back to the front of the hotel, my car managed to magically acquire .9 miles of additional driving somehow. They went joy riding in my car, which is especially awful because in Detroit the roads there are terrible. Moreover, one of the belts now squeals, which is absolutely did not do prior to visiting Detroit. The valet service is unnecessary, but forced upon all patrons. And they treated my car like dirt. I went to Detroit for the North American International Auto Show and came back with a car that got beat on by kids. I am very unhappy with the service entirely because of this.
Positives: Friendly service.
Negatives: Horrible valets.

Hotel is very spacious, a bit far from the Downtown. Staff is very polite and extremely helpful. The view is great if room is picked where you are facing the ocean. Didn't like the fact that parking was mandatory and it was valet style. Did not like putting car in other people's hands. First elevator I notice seem to have been on fire or burned, didn't show a good first impression. TV was really outdated, not even a flat screen tube TV. Bathroom doors are confusing to lock, as well as the shower knobs.
Positives: Very nice staff, for the price I bid it was great.
Negatives: Mandatory valet parking, first elevator look burned.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Detroit wishing to experience Detroit nightlife! We were warmly greeted at the door and notified of the free shuttle service to downtown hot spots - anywhere within a 5 mile radius from the hotel was a free trip for any guests until 10:45pm - a fantastic deal! It definitely saved us money that would have been spent on a couple cab rides! The bed was very comfortable, the view was pretty - overlooking the river, and room service for breakfast was surprisingly reasonable and delicious! I cannot express how attentive the staff was to our needs, and I will definitely pick the Omni Hotel in Detroit for any future stays in the city.
Positives: The beds were so comfortable and the staff was so cheerful and eager to please.
Negatives: The bathroom was the only downfall - not quite as clean as I would expect, but it did not ruin my experience.

The hotel and it's staff was friendly and great.
Positives: People were very friendly and informative.
Negatives: Located in an area away from downtown but not too far.

This hotel is very historic in it's appearance and furnishings. Beautiful view of the river and looking across to Canada.
Positives: The beds were extremely comfortable.
Negatives: Couldn't find on GPS had to call for directions, no pool for kids.

It was great for the value. It is not easy to find without a GPS. The free shuttle is a great thing, as it is complimentary. The rooms were clean. Yes it is an older building, but the friendly staff and welcoming they provide makes it all worth it. $18.00 parking is the price of doing business in downtown. It felt safe and had a wonderful view. Don't try walking home from the downtown(Joe Louis) at night. We did and it took 50 minutes. It was not a great experience. We just choose not to wait for the shuttle and traffic. Don't do what we did.
Positives: Excellent value. Clean, safe and very friendly staff.
Negatives: Not really modern, and bar in basement. No pool if you have kids.
