This hotel was OK. Parking was $18.

Positives: Comfortable bed.

Negatives: Not clean.

It is a great hotel for a business traveler who will not have a car. It is a horrible place to go with your wife. Horrible view. No romance.

Positives: It has a beautiful lobby.

Negatives: The parking fee is insane.

It is dis-pointing to pay extra parking and Internet fees at San Jose. Have tried Omni and MGM (4 stars) before, and DoubleTree at San Jose is not as good.

Positives: Good location. Quiet environment.

Negatives: Extra parking fee. Extra Internet fee.

The room was neat and tidy. The shower was not exactly fit for tall people, but it functioned. I did try the jacuzzi outside and the water was not as hot as I would have liked it to be. But, overall the stay was okay. For the bid that I placed, I am not complaining. The only thing I did not like was having to pay $18 to park!

Positives: I liked the fact that the pool was open until 11 pm. This gave us a chance to take a dip in before getting some rest.

Negatives: I did not like the fact that there was an $18 charge a night for parking!Outrageous!

I expected more from a Doubletree.

Positives: Accepted my low price.

Negatives: Construction was going on - loud. Clientele was funky.

Everything about this hotel was a pleasure. From booking the room, getting directions to the hotel, to checking in, Even when I asked the front desk if I could change my room due to being too close to the front door and concerns about noise they very happily moved me to a room higher up and away from any noise. The entire stay was most pleasant. I would definitely come back again!

Positives: The front desk agent I delt with was extremely friendly and responsive to my questions.

Negatives: There could be more local signage directing guests to the hotel from local streets.

Very nice and friendly hotel. Love the warm cookie on arrival.

Positives: Very convenient location and staff was very friendly.

Negatives: View was of the freeway. Our parking ticket did not work on our final night and we had to go in to fix it.

Rip off.

Positives: TV and room size.

Negatives: Paid parking, paid breakfast and location.

Doubletree gives you a great cookie to eat, and a great bed to sleep in, but charges you extra to park here.

Positives: Amazingly comfortable bed.

Negatives: Parking cost. Wasnt stated beforehand, so made my hotel cost 18 dollars more than what i expected, which nearly busted my budget for this trip.

Scratches in walls and dated rooms.

Positives: Location

Negatives: Bland and overrated, noisy patrons.

Reviewer: Not provided on Fri 18 Feb 2011 rated 10 out of 10.

Paying to park only down side!!!

Positives: The service was outstanding, locked myself out and they were there asap!

Negatives: Paying for parking.

Reviewer: Not provided on Fri 04 Feb 2011 rated 10 out of 10.

Tasteful, luxurious; pleasant and helpful staff. Parking rates reasonable.

Positives: tasteful, quiet, convenient and gracious.

Negatives: Probably wouldn't have used the hot-tub, immediately beside/in full view of windows along the main hallway.

Reviewer: Not provided on Tue 07 Dec 2010 rated 7 out of 10.

The hotel was nice, but I had to pay so much fees for dumb things like parking, a fridge, things that are standard at most hotels.

Positives: Fast room service and very comfortable beds!

Negatives: You have to pay for your parking for no apparent reason, we were charged $18.00 and we had to pay extra for a fridge.

Reviewer: Not provided on Tue 21 Sep 2010 rated 5 out of 10.

Mattress was lousy, 1st room smelled like smoke, even though it was a non smoking room. 2nd room was by the freeway, noisy, cheap TV. maid forgot to put wash clothes in room.

Positives: Nice lobby and friendly staff.

Negatives: Lousy mattress, room smelled, noisy.

Very comfortable rooms with balconies, nice beds and polite staff. But they try charging for everything, including parking and internet in rooms, at steep rates. Management seems to keep a tight control on costs, and it shows. Still has old CRT TVs in rooms, and no fridge or microwave oven. Good fitness room. Free shuttle to airport.

Positives: Good beds, spacious room with balcony, good housekeeping and staff.

Negatives: Exorbitant parking rates, east side overlooks 101 highway with traffic noise.

Reviewer: Not provided on Sun 02 May 2010 rated 6 out of 10.

My room was dirty, the shower head didn't work and worst, when I went to make tea, the water came out black. The old fashioned TV was tiny, and at $15 for a movie it was barely worth watching. Add $18 for parking (no attendant).

Positives: Nice pool.

Negatives: Dirty, bad service, poor TV, $18 for parking, & $15 for movie I could barely see.

Staff was pleasant. Room was clean. But it felt like I was in a time warp. No water pressure in the shower. Elevators took forever.

Positives: Location and price.

Negatives: Extremely dated. Not a 4 star hotel. Desperately needs a redo.

Reviewer: Not provided on Sun 11 Apr 2010 rated 7 out of 10.

It was clean but the rooms reminded me of an older motel. I only needed to stay overnight so luxury wasn't an issue this trip.

Positives: They give warm cookies.

Negatives: Rooms reminded me of a motel.

This hotel was probably nice at one time, but is now showing its age. They are currently renovating the standard rooms, and said they will be done in 2012. Don't stay in a standard room until they do. Our room was old and filthy, and smelled faintly of smoke.

Positives: Location.

Negatives: Filthy, old room.

The entire staff did everything they could to make our stay a good one. The beds were better than other 4 star hotels in San Jose. Nice touch with the chocolate chip cookies. The receptionist explained why they have to charge for parking ($9 a day of weekends; $18 on weekdays). The parking lot was being used by airport travelers as a free spot to leave your car.

Positives: Beds were 4 star. Staff 4 star.

Negatives: No where to walk.

The staff was very accommodating of our late check-in 11 pm. The entrance and parking guidelines are very unclear at night without a valet on duty. The lobby is far from the front door and unclear. I was a single female checking in at the front desk alone while my boyfriend took care of the car, and as I was talking to the front desk, a drunk/high guest came down to get a key changed. This guest kept bothering me and overheard my room number. Later that night, he knocked on the door! The quality of guests in this hotel are frightening!

Positives: Large rooms.

Negatives: Tired and somewhat worn, questionable guests.

Good location, comfy rooms, super-tick towles, great beds and overall lovely hotel.

Positives: Staff was very freindly & helpful.

Negatives: Shower head was old & sort of funky.

This is the old Red Lion. Well maintained, clean rooms. Sliders that open to get fresh air. Nice hotel, better than others around the area.

Positives: Opening sliders is a huge plus for me!

Negatives: Charging for parking is ridiculous in San Jose.

Reviewer: Not provided on Mon 19 Oct 2009 rated 3 out of 10.

Poor value, old furnishing, carpet, pet oder, restaurants over priced and not high quality. Staff was OK but didn't go out of their way to provide extra service. No bellman assistance.

Positives: Location.

Negatives: Roof leaked, water everywhere in lobby, restaurants, old hotel, needs refurbishment.

Location is good for business near airport and easy to get around San Jose. Very much in need of a remodel - upgrade.

Positives: Location.

Negatives: Very average hotel needs to be upgraded.

The hotel is large with large rooms. The staff is accommodating. Very close to the airport, which makes it easy to use the free shuttle. But a $3 service charge plus 22% more service charge on top of that (and they include 22% of the $3). Plus, the rooms are a bit on the run down side - just a little. The television is a bit old and small, no robes, the rooms were a little dirty and not serviced properly. One side of the hotel has the freeway running outside of it, so it can be noisy.

Positives: It is close to the airport and the rooms are large.

Negatives: 22% service charge on room service plus $3. No robes. Rooms was a bit run down.

Overall, I enjoyed the my stay. The front desk was attentive and made me feel comfortable from the minute I came in.

Positives: Convenience of location.

Negatives: Rooms looked moderately beat.

Convenient location, pretty basic room, very comfortable bed, older TV set, staff was fine though not outgoing friendly, had to pay an additional $18 per night to park

Positives: Very comfortable bed

Negatives: Had to pay an additional $18 to park

Noise level was terrible and gang-like individuals hanging around seemed dangerous and afraid to be out of my room. Also loud at night with running down the halls and screaming. You need more security.

Positives: Convenient location and overall appearance.

Negatives: Too noisy and could not sleep.
