The staff was willing to work with us when charges on their Internet weren't clear. The hotel was very cleaning and the housekeeping staff was wonderful. The worst thing about this hotel is the parking situation. There is one parking garage right next to the hotel. Rates are $2.25 for every 12 minutes. 4 hours of parking worked out to be just over $40. While the hotel offered valet it was $38.50 a day. Internet is $9.95 a day per device you activate while their website says nothing about this. The hotel was willing to drop the extra charges though.

Positives: The staff was friendly and reasonable.

Negatives: Parking was not close or fairly priced just for leaving my car overnight.

Great location, but a little overpriced because of the location.

Positives: The skyline scene was amazing!

Negatives: Parking was a little expensive.

I stayed at this hotel for one night and it was one of my worst experiences in the beginning, but it ended well. My first room had several major issues and I had to change rooms at 2 am in the morning. The bathroom door was a sliding door and it got stuck shut! I was lucky that I was not inside the bathroom when it got stuck. I had many items in the bathroom and since it was 1 am when this happened they had no one that could help. There was also a stain on the sheets, the shower fixtures were falling apart. I had to hall all my things to another room at 2 am and I was not happy about it. I must admit the second room was very nice and had no issues at all. What I was impressed with was how the front desk supervisor Ivania handled the situation. I was provided free breakfast and they will be providing me with free night's stay that I can use anytime before the end of the year. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The customer service was great. I think I might have just got a bad room in the beginning which they said they will be repairing right away. If I cancel out the first room I had I would rate my stay 9 out of 10.

Positives: Hotel staff was helpful and kind.

Negatives: The location is not the greatest. Parking is expensive.

Compare Internet picture was not what I expected. It was a very small hotel.

Positives: Bed and cleanness.

Negatives: Bathroom was nice what I expected.

Overall great experiences. The valet just messed with the gear shifter in the car and it got stuck. The front desk then called and asked me to come down and help them. Not once did they own up to their mistake and they said they did nothing wrong, then told us we need to fix it because they needed the parking spot. That did not sit well with me. They did end up not charging us for the valet, but very disappointed since I have worked in the hospitality industry.

Positives: Location and cleanliness.

Negatives: Valet messed up shifter in car, didn't own up to it.

Pleasant, comfortable hotel and staff. Rooms are somewhat small, but that's okay because it's an older hotel (which I like) and to be expected.

Positives: Attractive and clean.

Negatives: Pool closed for an event.

We loved the Hilton Checkers! It was our first stay for 5 nights on October 16th. Very friendly and helpful front desk personnel. Our room was great. Comfy bed, soft pillows was the only downfall. Just way too mushy and there was nothing to them. Great views from the windows and the rooftop pool is small but beautiful at night all lit up with great views of downtown Los Angeles. My husband and I were there on business and the Hilton was convenient to his office which was a block away. We did rent a car and had the hotel valet park it. Almost $40 a day to park with taxes and all, but because it was business it didn't matter to us too much because we weren't paying that bill. We ate breakfast in the hotel's restaurant every morning. Serve and food was very good. I would stay again.

Positives: Kudos to front desk worker! Great room with a nice flat screen and big comfy king bed.

Negatives: Mushy pillows for sleeping. Not really recommended for people staying with young children.

Negatives: Parking was expensive.

We had a great time staying here with our very young children. The pool was on the rooftop and heated well. We enjoyed the Jacuzzi as well. The staff was really nice and helpful. The beds were very comfortable and clean! Overall we really like this hotel and would stay here again.

Positives: The rooftop pool was a lot of fun with the kids.

Negatives: The parking fee was very expensive.

The hotel was very nice, but there is no parking except for valet, which cost nearly forty dollars. I found a $25 lot a couple of blocks away, but not safe to walk to it at night, so I had to stay in at the hotel. I headed up to the pool upon check-in at 4 PM, but there was no sun, and it was a small rooftop pool and lounging area. The bar was comfortable. The staff was great. Loved the hotel, but not the parking or the pool. Also, the big earthquake happened while I was in the room and the once-a-year annual testing of the fire alarm system happened the next morning! Didn't pick a great day to get away from it all, which was the purpose of this trip.

Positives: Appearance was lovely. Friendly staff. Room was nice.

Negatives: No where to park! No sun on pool in afternoon.

The hotel was essentially fine. The pool was very small but comfortable. The parking is absolutely ridiculous. The parking cost of $40 was more. I don't know what Priceline can do about this, but it's really outrageous.

Positives: Good location.

Negatives: Ridiculous parking costs.

Reviewer: Not provided on Thu 16 Apr 2009 rated 6 out of 10.

The hotel was fine, but the parking was $38.00 per night! I was upset that I wasn't told about the parking fees prior to selecting the hotel.

Positives: The beds were very comfortable.

Negatives: Parking! It cost $38.00 to park overnight!

The Hilton Checkers was more than we had expected. The hotel staff was extremely in-tune with our needs and made us feel like we were regulars. Upon discovering it was my boyfriend's birthday, the hotel sent a complimentary dessert to our room. We called down to the valet whenever we needed our car, and every time it waiting for us. Because of this special treatment, we will stay at the Checkers every chance we get.

Positives: Excellent staff, hotel room, and location.

Negatives: Parking was on the higher-end; TV channels were not in HD.

Waste of money.

Positives: The bed was comfortable.

Negatives: It seemed like a lot to be paying to stay in a glorified motel.

Be sure not to self-park, I didn't know that only through valet parking do you not have to pay for parking and ended up paying $2.25 for every 15 minutes. The surrounding area isn't safe after midnight. Otherwise a decent hotel, friendly staff, and just barely within walking distance of Staples Center.

Positives: Staff was friendly.

Negatives: Parking was ridiculous. Got stuck with a smoking room despite paying for non smoking.

The hotel was nice and clean. The staff was all gracious and helpful which all contributes to a nice "home away from home".

Positives: The staff was all very helpful, friendly and courteous.

Negatives: It would've been a little more convenient if the restaurant in the hotel stayed open to a later time.

Parking is too expensive, it's $38.50 per night. They charged me twice for the parking although I only stayed for one night so I had to call them up and get it fixed. Room was too small and smelly. Only thing that I liked about the stay is the bed.

Positives: Nice beds.

Negatives: Rooms are too small.

We enjoyed our stay at the Hilton Checkers. We had looked forward to hanging out on at the roof top pool when we checked in, but it was already closed (3:30 PM) for an evening event. Breakfast was great.

Positives: Convenient location.

Negatives: Day we checked in, the pool was closed early for an event.

The hotel location was convenient. Walking distance to coffee shops, the mall and restaurants. It was also near the freeways. The rooms were really small; although the comfort of the beds made up for it.

Positives: The architecture was beautiful. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming.

Negatives: It was convenient to have valet; however it was really expensive.

Very nice room. Nice bathroom! Didn't like the mini fridge. All beat up, and no space in the room for it really. Other than that, the staff was great. And the rooftop is great!

Positives: I liked the rooftop pool & Jacuzzi!

Negatives: I wish access hours to the rooftop were extended.

The hotel was fine except for the fact that the fire alarm kept going off in the very early morning (3:40am) and all the hotel would do was say "sorry for the trouble.

Positives: The hotel staff was very professional.

Negatives: The fire alarm went off at 3:40 am and all the staff could say was "sorry for the trouble" and it kept going off intermittently.
