Good value for the money, clean, close to my children who are both university students. Also, close to State Street and the Capitol. Didn't take my car after I parked it when I checked in - everything within walking distance.
Positives: Very clean, quiet, loved the cookie on checkin.
Negatives: I liked everything about it. No problems.

Pleasantly surprised. This used to be a Howard Johnson which was dirty and not so inviting. The beds were great. It was clean. People were very friendly. You can't beat the location for UW activities!!
Positives: very close to uw campus, clean, and very comfortable beds and bedding

Nice hotel. Staff was efficient but not particularly friendly but to be fair I had no contact with them except at check-in. Parking was inadequate. The location is great because it is near central Madison and is within walking distance of tons of restaurants. The City of Madison taxes on the room were insane which is to be expected of a Democrat run city. Overall I would stay here again should I ever run the Madison Marathon again.
Positives: Close to the starting point of the marathon I was in.
Negatives: Inadequate parking!

Great location on Madison Campus! Most comfortable bed I've slept on every more so than my own bed at home! Only downside is the price. There aren't many other options on campus.
Positives: The bed was great! Very comfortable!
Negatives: Checkout time had just switched to 11 instead of noon.

Location was great and the hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The room, although a bit small, was wonderfully clean & fresh and the beds made for a great night's sleep. The only major disappointment was the shower which had no water pressure.
Positives: The beds were fabulous! Also it was such a clean and fresh-smelling room.
Negatives: The room was pretty small and the shower water pressure was really weak.

Would be a nice place to stay if they haven't jacked up the price just because of the High School girls basketball tournament.

Was a wonderful hotel! The staff were very friendly and helpful, the restaurant breakfast buffet was simple but good. Warm Chocolate chip cookies at check in were a delightful surprise! The close location to campus. If you have kids at the University or wish to see the campus, this is the perfect hotel. The bed was very comfortable, and I am a picky sleeper. All in all definitely worth looking into.
Positives: The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the staff friendly and helpful, rooms were big.
Negatives: Is located on a one-way street, a little harder to get to, but typical of the area.

The Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel was definitely more then I expected! The room was just amazing. 2 Queen size beds each with 5 pillows on them! The bathroom was large and the shower comfortable. The hotel also had an indoor pool and whirlpool which was awesome since the cold weather doesn't allow you to be swimming outside!
Positives: The rooms were amazing!! Awesome beds with tons of pillows!
Negatives: The whirlpool was a little dirty but no biggie.
