The Turtle-Flambeau Flowage is a 14,321 acre impoundment created in 1926. It is the 4th largest inland body of water in the State. there is approximately 217 miles of shoreline (inlcuding islands) with 95% owned by the DNR as of September 1990. there are over 150 islands on the Flowage. Walleye is the dominate fishery. The miles of undisturbed shoreline provide an outdoor experience that is unmatched in the region. The Flowage also has the highest collective numbers of blak eagles, osprey and common loon breeding pairs in Wisconsin.
