Got a free upgrade to the Rush tower as they were out of the non-smoking rooms with king beds in the tower that we paid for. The Rush tower was very classy, with exceptional bedding quality, luxuriously comfortable. The pool was amazing, with a giant shark tank in the middle, and a three story water slide that actually takes you through the shark tank. It's also on Fremont St., away from the ridiculousness of the Strip, easy to get to, parking is free, and merely a short, cheap bus or shuttle ride to the strip.

Positives: extremely comfortable, amazing pool, excellent rates, close to everything

Negatives: I don't particularly like Vegas in general, but this was the best place I've stayed there

Overall, for the price this hotel met all of our expectations. It was clean, comfortable and affordable.

Positives: Stayed in the older towers, but the rooms were still clean & comfortable.

Negatives: Parking could be difficult at times.

We had a great time in Vegas, but the rooms were definitely not four star. $25 for a late checkout is absurd, $20 for a refrigerator also.

Positives: We loved the swimming pool area, and the gambling table staff.

Negatives: The sink and bathtub would clog up, no late checkout , no refrigerator these items where available but at a cost.

Nice.

Positives: Buffet nice.

Negatives: Internet not free, most hotels are free.

This hotel has been renovated with taste and luxury in mind. I love this hotel - it is my favorite in Vegas and I would stay there again when I am fortunate enough to go.

Positives: I love the Golden Nugget - it represents all of the things about Las Vegas from the good old days - the style, the class, etc.

Negatives: There is not much about the Nugget that I don't like - I will be glad when all of Vegas goes non - smoking in the casinos.

This hotel continues to not only meet, but exceeds my expectations in all regards. There's no doubt about it that the Golden Nugget is the shining star of all the hotel/Casinos on Freemont Street, pay the extra $15 (approximately) a night and stay at this fine establishment. It will be the best money you spend while in Las Vegas!

Positives: Very elegant looking and no plumbing problems like the Four Queens next door.

Negatives: I had no problems at all and they exceeded my expectations.

No refrigerator, no hair dryer, very long wait for check-in, and check-out.

Positives: Location

Negatives: No refrigerator, no hair dryer, very long wait for check-in, and check-out.

Nice.

Positives: Pool and slide with shark tank were really cool.

Negatives: They didn't have a room with queen or king sized bed.

Allowed us to check in early which was the only good thing I can say. Toilet didn't flush well so had to wait for maintenance as soon as we checked in. Latch on door didn't work - had to go back and forth 3x from Carson Tower to the main tower (since the front desk for Carson was closed) as they insisted the issue was with the key card and not putting in our wallets or next to other items that might demagnetize. Finally, insisted a maintenance person meet me while I open the door and determined the latch was not working correctly so would take another day to fix. Suggested I open the door 2x quickly. When we asked for a way for them to fix the inconveniences we experienced all they offered was a late check-out or meal tickets. After this experience I did not want to extend my stay any longer than I had to. Definitely not a 4-star (stayed in 3 stars that were better). The biggest differentiator should be the service and while the maintenance guy was really trying to be helpful, the front desk manager and staff were definitely not caring or friendly.

Positives: Good location for downtown hotels.

Negatives: Unfriendly manager and staff at front desk. Looks like they are taught to keep calm, but it came off as indifferent/uncaring.

Pool was very interesting to see all fishes.

Positives: I like the pool.

Negatives: Room was very average.

Overall, we would stay again.

Positives: Fun & a good location.

Negatives: Rooms not updated we were in.

Old run down and very dingy. The sink drain was plugged the whole time even though we called it in every day. Very gross. We had to brush out teeth in the tub. Mattress was old, soft and lumpy.

Positives: On Fremont street.

Negatives: Old and run down!

Reviewer: Not provided on Fri 21 Jan 2011 rated 3 out of 10.

i don't like it.

Positives: No

Negatives: Room and bed (only have 2 Full size bed in room) too small, have smoke air.

Reviewer: Not provided on Wed 12 Jan 2011 rated 8 out of 10.

The Golden Nugget is very nice in appearance, and has a number of quality restaurants. We were happy that the tower we stayed in was completely smoke-free. But the casino and lobby seemed smokier than at newer hotels on the strip. The pool area was nice but it was way too cold this time of year to use it or to even sit in the sun outside.

Positives: The Rush Tower was smoke-free. Staff was friendly.

Negatives: Too much smoke in lobby that was unavoidable. No easy place to change money into smaller bills.

Reviewer: Not provided on Fri 07 Jan 2011 rated 10 out of 10.

Hotel has invited me back a few times for the new Rush towers and<BR/>I hoped to stay there, but was not able to book room there, lobby looks great with fish tank and valet parking!

Positives: There was plenty of places to eat at and felt safe there.

Negatives: Rooms were overpriced just for New years.

Mostly we stay at the nugget, the hotel is very nice and reasonably priced. We did not get a chance to use the pool or spa this trip, but have thoroughly enjoyed it in the past very nice pool set up for downtown Vegas!

Positives: Close proximate to public transportation.

Negatives: Need personal coffee maker in rooms,

We quite enjoyed our stay at the Golden Nugget. We won some in the casino and enjoyed the restaurant and would have liked to have had time to use the pool area. It looked so fun and inviting. The only bad experience I had was that I got about a dozen and a half bedbug bites while in our room. My wife didn't get bitten at all. They must have liked me better. I have looked them up on the Internet and apparently they can be in one room and not the next as they are brought in on luggage or clothing by other travellers. So it doesn't mean they are all over the building or in all rooms.

Positives: Fun casino and nice staff.

Negatives: There really wasn't anything we didn't like except that I was bitten by bedbugs.

Reviewer: Not provided on Thu 11 Nov 2010 rated 2 out of 10.

The staff was unhelpful.

Positives: The pool.

Negatives: There wasn't much to like.

Nice hotel, less than ideal location. Hotel is very clean and modern and comfortable. But hotel check-in staff set the mood for our stay. Could have been so much better. Bell staff very robotic, but pleasant. Should have offered to get ice, but didn't. Italian eatery was wonderful and wait staff very pleasant, talkative, and engaging. I'm not sure if I would return. Would have to be an incredible deal.

Positives: Very clean. Great Italian restaurant. Interesting pool setup. Felt safe.

Negatives: No Queen or King non-smoking rooms.

We had the Rush Tower corner suite for a very heavy price on a Saturday. What a shame! Small room, thats not what can be called a suite. No hairdryer, no fridge. Well, maybe we expected too much. The room itself was nice with its furnishings. But overall, it's definitely not worth the money. A regular room we could look at will do. So save your money.

Positives: Clean, new tower.

Negatives: No hairdryer or fridge.

I had a constant problem with my TV. I called the front desk several times. For some reason my room key stopped working one night. I couldn't find anyone in maintenance so I had to wait in line for half an hour at the check in desk to get a new key. The hotel was so crowed that it was impossible to move around. The pool was so crowded and there seemed to be children running everywhere. My friends and I spent a lot of money on our 50th Birthday week, having kids running in the pool area was not cool.

Positives: Close to Fremont Street. Gold Diggers overlook.

Negatives: Too many people. Pool too crowded.

Reviewer: Not provided on Mon 18 Oct 2010 rated 3 out of 10.

The room was dark and barely lit by three fluorescent bulbs -- and that was it! Though we got a nonsmoking room, the duvet had been in a smoking room and reeked. Not a pretty hotel; looked long in the tooth.

Positives: Good service; staff was truly interested in being helpful and

Negatives: Ugly decor; horrible lighting and

It's a great stay in downtown Las Vegas. Next time I will book with them again.

Positives: It's the best downtown hotel, period.

Negatives: The room needs an update

Reviewer: Not provided on Mon 16 Aug 2010 rated 10 out of 10.

This hotel exceeded our expectations we thought the hotel would be old and musty. We stayed in Carson Tower, which is new. Beds were comfy and room was clean for our kids to play on floor. The pool was easy to get to and very cold, but enjoyed spending day there. We will return without kids next time and stay well!

Positives: Ease of check-in/out, pool access, quietness of room, well-lit garage, very clean carpet and room, fresh and crisp feel, location and inexpensive!

Negatives: No shuttle to las Vegas strip, smoky scent throughout lobby, expensive drinks at pool! and no breakfast deals.

Reviewer: Not provided on Sun 20 Jun 2010 rated 10 out of 10.

Pool area needs to be expanded. Was way too crowded. If you didn't get there by 10am you would not have a lounge chair to use. Pool was not big enough for all the kids there were. Would have liked an adult only pool that we didn't have to pay for.

Positives: Upgraded for free.

Negatives: Too many kids and pool area was too small.

Reviewer: Not provided on Fri 04 Jun 2010 rated 1 out of 10.

Overall experience stay in this hotel is poor, there is not hot water in the shower, towel is old, has hole in the towel, and not clean. Air condition is not working at all, bed sheet is not clean. Even worse, there is a cricket hiding in the bed. Light is dim. No one there to pick up the phone when we call, lucky we stay for only one night. Not recommend to anyone, families and friends for this hotel at all.

Positives: Nice swimming pool.

Negatives: Dirty, there's a cricket on my bed. Hard to find help from front desk, air condition is not working, no hot water, everything is not right.

Reviewer: Not provided on Thu 13 May 2010 rated 10 out of 10.

The hotel was amazing, I've never been in a finer place to stay. Everything about it was convenient.

Positives: It has everything, literally.

Negatives: The parking.

Reviewer: Not provided on Fri 07 May 2010 rated 9 out of 10.

Beautiful hotel, unlike most in Downtown.

Positives: It was beautiful.

Negatives: Checkout worker (platinum-Blondie female) was pretty but not very cordial and accommodating. She would not allow a late check-out.

Reviewer: Not provided on Fri 23 Apr 2010 rated 8 out of 10.

Hotel was great and by far the best in the downtown area. Aside from the smoke in the casino, which is unavoidable in Vegas, the place was great.

Positives: Room was perfect (clean, comfy, amenities).

Negatives: Smoke everywhere downstairs (it's a casino, I understand).

Reviewer: Not provided on Sat 03 Apr 2010 rated 9 out of 10.

I liked the rooms and all the surroundings. It was very fancy. The parking was hard to find and a long ways from our room, especially with a lot of luggage we carried, being 2 adults and 2 children in our party.

Positives: Rooms were nicely decorated.

Negatives: Airconditioning was ratteling, bathroom floor very dirty.

Reviewer: Not provided on Sun 28 Mar 2010 rated 8 out of 10.

Overall I like the Nugget, however I felt like I was being nickel and dimmed the entire time. No water fountains, no hair dryers in room, no coffeepot in room, no free internet....if you want something you have to pay!

Positives: The room was fun!

Negatives: Carson Caf&eacute; food I had - omelet - was bad.

Reviewer: Not provided on Sat 27 Mar 2010 rated 7 out of 10.

Fancy hotel, but mostly a casino focused atmosphere.

Positives: Parking was included, which was appreciated. Very fancy and enjoyable.

Negatives: Very smoking and the restaurants were very expensive.

Reviewer: Not provided on Fri 12 Mar 2010 rated 10 out of 10.

Stayed downtown instead of on the strip. Probably the most upscale hotel in the area. Convenient to other hotels for food, gambling and Fremont experience. Let's just say I was happy with the stay and would definitely stay again.

Positives: Clean, comfortable and

Negatives: Annoying marketing people trying to sell you time share deals.

Reviewer: Not provided on Sun 07 Mar 2010 rated 9 out of 10.

Very clean and friendly.

Positives: Great location down town.

Negatives: Nothing bad at all.

Reviewer: Not provided on Tue 19 Jan 2010 rated 10 out of 10.

Location makes it a shoe in if you're looking for a hotel in old Las Vegas. The room is actually pretty big, and the king bed was nice. If it weren't for the pool area, it wouldn't be 4-star in my book though. Too many people wanting to bug me about a timeshare rather than offer real service.

Positives: Pool area, close to Fremont Street.

Negatives: Smoke smell, just can't get away from it in Vegas I guess.

Reviewer: Not provided on Wed 13 Jan 2010 rated 8 out of 10.

A clean, comfortable hotel in downtown Vegas with good service and nice amenities conveniently located on Fremont Street allowing the visitor to experience old Vegas at it's best.

Positives: Biggest, nicest, hotel in downtown, great location on Fremont St.

Negatives: Pretty standard hotel with little character.

Reviewer: Not provided on Thu 31 Dec 2009 rated 10 out of 10.

The only problem I had was that there was a group set up right at the entrance and they basically grab you and entice you with free money or a free show if you agree to attend a 3 hour seminar. Then once you agree, they want you to give them a deposit... I wasn't pleased. I was there for a vacation and didn't appreciate the way they did this.

Positives: The price was great for the star level. Loved it!

Negatives: The restaurant was quite pricey for the quality of food.

Reviewer: Not provided on Thu 10 Dec 2009 rated 8 out of 10.

I would definitely stay at this hotel again. However I would be sure to ask for a room without such a rinky dink TV and request better pillows as they were small and flat. Other than that it was very enjoyable and had a great atmosphere and class about it. They have a pretty good sports bar too.

Positives: The overall atmosphere was friendly and relaxed.

Negatives: My room in the Carson Tower had a very small T.V. with only a few channels and the service in the restaurants was slow.

Reviewer: Not provided on Mon 30 Nov 2009 rated 7 out of 10.

Older, well maintained hotel.

Positives: Comfortable bed and sheets.

Negatives: No free Wi-Fi, no fridge or microwave in room.

Reviewer: Not provided on Sat 11 Jul 2009 rated 8 out of 10.

My wife and I stayed at the hotel from Ju1y 1-5, 2009. We spent $1,000.00 on food, drinks and gifts there. I wanted a particular bottle of wine the hotel didn't have. I bought a bottle outside the hotel and I forgot a corkscrew. I took the bottle to a bar at the hotel and asked the bartender to open it. The bartender said there is a $15.00 cork charge. That is not guest friendly. I will never stay the again.

Positives: Nice pool.

Negatives: Our bathroom floor was not clean and the bathroom door was sticky.

Property is modernized, clean and has relatively good food, especially for downtown. You pay a little more, but you get a little more. If you like downtown the location is perfect, right in the middle of the Fremont Street experience. I would stay again for the rooms food & service, but for gaming, (especially blackjack) I would walk across the street to Binion's, Fremont, Four Queen's or down one block to Fitz's.

Positives: Nice pool for downtown, clean, modern, good service, and robes.

Negatives: No hair dryers, extra charges for internet.
