We are a "small by choice" BWCA canoe trip outfitter specializing in wilderness high adventure into the Minnesota Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness or Quetico Provencial Park.
Our Boundary Waters canoe trips include fishing, camping, hiking, birding and wildlife photography. Fishing for smallmouth bass, walleye, northern pike, and lake trout in the BWCA is a special experience. We personally plan unique trips for couples, families, friends, fishermen, youth and Scout groups.
Clearwater Canoe Outfitters and Lodge is located mid-point the Gunflint Trail, just a mile south of the historic Voyageur Canoe Route, which created the boundary between the U.S. and Canada. BWCA boundaries include most of 7 mile long Clearwater Lake, whose majestic palisades are visible from our dock.
This more remote eastern section of the wilderness is a particularly scenic one, filled with spectacular bluffs, falls, and crystal-clear waters. Clearwater Lake is a designated entry point into the BWCA.
