It's an old building in need of a complete makeover. It doesn't qualify anything close to a 3 star rating and I, therefore, overpaid.

Positives: Good location.
Negatives: Mold and mildew on ceilings and floor.

The hotel and its location was for the most part very good. The food was the biggest drawback. I ordered a simple hamburger well done. It came to me rare. I sent it back. The chef just scraped off the lettuce , tomato and put it into a microwave. It was horrible, I just returned it. It was taken off my bill. I was leaving the next morning so I has brunch in the same restaurant. It was a buffet. The food was cold in the steam tables. I can't say enough bad about the restaurant.
Positives: Location.
Negatives: Restaurant, and chef who was unwilling to correct his mistake.

Unpleasant reception, untidy and tatty although torn notices stuck to walls and elevators saying excuse the mess we are renovating (yea right) ... complimentary beverages and snacks - table only for the 3 days, no sign of beverages or snacks although the notice on the empty table stated to enjoy the complimentary beverages and snacks, reception staff miserable, housekeeping staff happy, rooms tired, beds ok, told me we had a room with an excellent view when checking in as I asked for and was willing to pay for an upgrade and yes - I had an excellent view of the car parking lot! Na never again.
Positives: You got to be joking - worst hotel I have stayed in, in years.
Negatives: I have stayed at better 2 star hotels, this place is not 3 star.

From check in to check out every staff person was friendly and helpful. It is rare to see every employee smiling and ready to answer any question. Fantastic.
Positives: The incredibly friendly and helpful staff.
Negatives: Can't think of anything.

The Holiday Inn in Traverse City, MI was great. Conveniently located in downtown Traverse City. The view of Grand Traverse Bay right out the windows. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the hotel staff was friendly and helpful. I plan to stay here when I'm back in TC next time.
Positives: Located right in downtown Traverse City.
Negatives: Nothing. I plan to stay there again when I'm in the area.

Hotel is disgustingly smoky, guests and on-site establishments are obnoxiously loud, and rooms are filthy. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. Specifically, when we arrived, we quickly realized that the room was not clean. The sill on the window was the first indication of filth. The second was the desk chair. They were absolutely dirty. So dirty, I immediately instructed my 2 year old to not sit on the floor or the chair. Luckily, the sheets looked clean. Then to the bathroom. The toilet had black grime around the top of the bowl. The tile was dirty, as was the tub. After going out to dinner and returning to a facility full of smoke, we decided to take our son swimming. That was the one halfway decent thing about the facility. However, you had to walk through a public area, next to a smoke-filled bar and reception area that both had their doors open so the obnoxious music and smoke cloud oozed into the corridors. When we returned to our room, we settled our toddler into bed. We then fell asleep around 11 pm only to be woken up at 1 am by an obnoxious amount of cigarette smoke entering our room either through the ventilation system or neighboring guests. In addition, there was booming bass from music and loud neighboring guests. After 3 hours of this, at 4 am, our child woke up. We finally were able to sleep for a few hours after daybreak when the partiers went to sleep. When we woke up, our son had a nasty bug bite on his back! It could only have been from a bed bug or something! When we complained to the front desk in the morning, all we got was an I'm sorry this happened, you should have called and we would have switched your room. "At 3 am with a 2 year old?" I replied. They, in turn, simply said they were sorry. That was it. Do not stay at this filth, bug-ridden, smoke-filled, establishment filled with obnoxious guests.
Positives: Location, pool area halfway decent.
Negatives: Dirty, smoky, obnoxious guests.

We got a smoking room. I told them we wanted a non smoking room. They apologized but did not give us any other options.

The hotel itself was okay. The nightclub was nice and seemed to have a lot of people having a good time. But it was very loud throughout the hotel. I could hear it from my room. There was a lot of intoxicated people throughout the hotel. It may be a good time and a fun atmosphere for younger people, but it was a little too much for a supposedly relaxing and romantic weekend for us.
Positives: Variety of TV channels.
Negatives: The

This as a very nice hotel overall. I was worried about booking a hot tub room because someone said theirs didn't get warm, but ours got as hot as we wanted it.
Positives: The bedding was wonderful, and the location was excellent for wine tasting.
Negatives: The decor was a little too bland, i.e. white/beige everything in the room.

The hotel location worked well for me. I've stayed there before at full fare. Traverse City is a summer tourist location, so the hotel wasn't very busy in November. We also arrived in a snow storm which made the location amenities less attractive to me, but that wasn't the fault of the hotel. As Holiday Inn promises, there were no surprises, but that was fine.
Positives: It is right on the bay.
Negatives: No complaints.

I was very disappointed in the room number one it was a smoking room and secondly it was just not 3 star quality. The beds did not even have a bedskirt on them, so the box springs were showing in all their glory. Very tacky in my opinion.
Positives: The view of Grand Traverse Bay makes the stay worthwhile.
Negatives: I was disappointed in the outdated rooms.

Definitely not worth it. We found fleas in our bed. Our room key never worked. I went to the lobby several times to get it activated and it still did not work. Luckily my in-laws were next door in the adjoining room to let us in but it was very inconvenient. The drain was clogged in the shower. I definitely would not stay here again.
Positives: Hotel was conveniently located to downtown area and beach.
Negatives: Our room key never worked. Only way we were able to get in was our family in the adjoining room.

The amenities did not include a continental breakfast or coffee in the lobby. The price included standard room at a location on the beach. Facilities were well maintained. We enjoyed the live entertainment on the outdoor patio. The food and the service were very poor outside, however, would only recomend this hotel for young people who want the nightclub activities.
Positives: Access to a private beach. Located within walking distance to downtown.
Negatives: The nightclub patrons interrupted our sleep at 2:00 AM because they were very loud in the hallways and in their rooms.

It was a very nice hotel with several nice amenities. It was comfortable and clean and I stay there again.
Positives: I like that it was right on the bay and had an indoor and outdoor pool.
Negatives: I didn't like that we had to rent the water trampoline instead of it being offered free to people staying at the hotel.

Just like to say that my hot tub for some reason had no hot water!

Hotel was very quiet-could not hear hall or room noise. Room was clean and comfortable. Restaurant menus posted in elevator were outdated in regards to price. Restaurant was closed, but food was available in bar. Great location and amenities for the price.
Positives: Quiet, clean, great location.
Negatives: Older hotel-could use some updating.

The hotel staff was great. We accidentally stopped at the Holiday Inn Express when we first got into town and they called our hotel to check our reservation for us. The staff was very helpful finding a restaurant we couldn't find. The room was very clean and was big for what I paid for it. We are already planning a summer vacation there.
Positives: Great location, great price.
Negatives: Musky smell but got over it.

This hotel was no deal. It was dirty and outdated. I was highly disappointed.
Positives: Location.
Negatives: Furnishings and age of hotel and maintenance and cleanliness.
