I thought it was very economical. It was quiet. i would definitely stay there again. It is very convenient to their major shopping mall.

Positives: I liked that there were no bedbugs. That was the first thing I checked.

Negatives: Lighting; I feel they need to use the new type light bulbs.

Good for business travelers or families. Decent value. Unexpectedly busy nightclub and bar.

Positives: Very clean, even the parking lot.

Negatives: Food in the restaurant was adequate but service was slow.

Staff was courteous. There were no elevators pointed out anywhere and definitely were not any in section farthest from lobby. Few guests for the night and all were located far away from the lobby and near the pool and recreation area. Pool was filled with kids all hours, people sitting in areas outside their rooms, the hall surrounding the pool with coolers of alcohol and smoking in the supposedly non-smoking facility. Non-smoking room smelled of smoke. The room was clean but attention to cleanliness in the bathroom seemed to be a rush job as there were dark hairs on the floor and in the shower and toilet paper was left to be changed by the newcomer. Internet access was not available in room and not available outside the room; the only hot spot available in this building upper floor section was outside the privacy of my room at the top of the stairs near the noisy pool and next to the laundry area. There was no refrigeration available so being close to all the dining areas, bringing leftovers would not be an option. It is in a great location for access to shopping and getting on the highway and safety was not a concern.

Positives: Staff was friendly and helpful, room nice size.

Negatives: Internet useless, non-smoking room was smokey, no refrigerator.

Outside of hotel was very unappealing.

Positives: My son left his pillows and we went back and they had them.

Negatives: Pulled up and wanted to leave.

I would have given this hotel a better rating if it wasn't for being woken up by fire alarms. There is nothing like being woken up in the middle of the night by fire alarms. It would not have been bad and I would not have been writing this poor review if it only happened once. No! it happened four times. I am actually writing this right now waiting for the fire alarm to stop! Other than that the place has great food, the service in the restaurant is good, the front desk is not good after upset customers keep calling them. The cleaning service for the second floor doesn't know how to clean the ring off the shower (which makes you wonder what else is dirty). I would say you will have to take your chances at least until they get the bugs worked out.

Positives: Restaurant is good.

Negatives: Fire alarm.

The hotel is obviously aging. We used the room only for an overnight stay. Did not avail ourselves of any other amenities. We heard other occupants in the hall and adjoining rooms.

Positives: Easy to find.

Negatives: Noisy - thin walls.

This place was terrible and was not at all what I thought I was negotiating for. The room was smoky smelling despite it being a non-smoking room. People were wandering the halls being very loud, well past midnight. We call front desk and they said they would take care of it but nothing changed. The bar band could be heard down our hall very loudly, which made it difficult to sleep. The bed was very uncomfortable. The pullout was on a slant and very uncomfortable. There were no pillows for the pullout. The sink was very low, like it was designed for a child. The staff were not rude but they were not friendly either. They seemed to have the attitude that they were just there to get a paycheck.

Positives: Our daughter liked the pool.

Negatives: Other than the pool, there wasn't anything we liked about this hotel.

It was a pleasant, quiet place to rest in between family business trips that included funeral and financial planning. The spa area was a welcome form of relaxation and we practically had it to ourselves as we were traveling Sunday to Wednesday of the week.

Positives: The spa area was appreciated. We were alone in the hot tub and pool.

Negatives: Bathroom sink drained very slow. Informed housekeeping/not fixed duing our 3 day stay.

For the price the hotel was decent, it was older and the room (nonsmoking) had a slight smoke odor but it went away. It was kinda difficult to spot because it is not well lit. It was a small room but the bed was comfy and the staff was friendly. We left too early to eat breakfast there.

Positives: Price.

Negatives: Old design, odor in room, small room.

This hotel is outdated but still very clean and the staff is helpful and friendly. I enjoyed the large room and wireless internet access. Several families were taking advantage of the pool area. Shopping and highway access are convenient and it was close the family member I was visiting. The large floor to ceiling windows may be a security concern but the area is safe so it wasn't a problem for me.

Positives: Very friendly and helpful staff. Large room.

Negatives: Older hotel that needs to be updated. I heard they are planning to build a new one to replace it. Public areas have a slight odor.

We arrived to Midland at 8:15am. The woman at the front desk was so friendly and said that she actually had a room available that I could get into then so I did not have to worry about finding something to do with the kids. I guess that's why her name tag said employee of the month. The kids had a blast at the hotel. This is one of the few hotels that actually provides toys in the pool for the kids to play with. We brought toys from home, but they had so much fun with the hotel toys and other children at the hotel that they didn't even use ours. There was a nice game room and play area for the kids. I would definitely come back to this hotel if I am ever in the Midland area again.

Positives: The hotel was very kid friendly and had excellent staff. The best I have seen in a long time!

Negatives: Some rooms were only able to be accessed from outside of the hotel not the interior hallways.

I would recommend the Holiday Inn Midland, MI. To everyone. I am more then impressed. We had several inches of snow fall overnight. Some one employed by the hotel not only cleaned off my car and everyone else's. The drive way and walks were cleaned off. I am more then grateful for that act of kindness and tell everyone about it.

Positives: Clean, personal friendly & helpful, crisp apples.

Negatives: Coke machine did not work.

I always stay at this hotel the last week in September for Northwood Universities Auto Show and Homecoming because I get a decent price and have an okay room with a nice pool, sauna and whirlpool. However this weekend on a sold out busy weekend they closed the whole area for cleaning and maintenance and I was very unhappy they did not make me happy with a discount or even an apology. I could have stayed somewhere else for less and had a pool and hot tub. Not a good experience this time around.

Positives: The price and location.

Negatives: The entire pool area was closed the whole weekend.

Holiday Inns aren't what they used to be, I suppose. We had trouble getting a non-smoking room, due to a large convention, so that is understandable. They did find us one, finally. The room itself had mattresses where the sheets came off easily again and again and too soft and sunken in the middle. Cheap thin plastic cups that were hard not to crack (cracked a few) as you removed the plastic wrap. We've had all glass glasses at every other hotel booked at this star level. Little things mean a lot! Tiny towels, too-small bathtub, small dingy room. It was closer to Motel 6. Also I've never been in a Holiday Inn pool, but it would be nice to know ahead of time that "kid friendly" means no deeper than 2'8". And the water wasn't filled up high enough even then so you scrape your knees on the bottom when attempting to swim. Stinky, smelly hallways, we walked around outside to get anywhere. I hate to sound like a complainer, but the continental breakfast was hugely disappointing. I guess this hotel has a service that serves several in the area, and they just can't keep up. The service woman was going on and on about that out-loud where we all could hear. They ran out of any non-sugar cereals 2 days in a row. Bananas were very brown, toaster didn't work right, microwave (the only available one in the whole hotel) was very small and the carousel was broken so we couldn't even pop popcorn in it for a late night snack. There were spills on the floor not mopped up in a timely manner, and the chairs are cheap and fall apart when you try to sit in them. All in all, this was maybe a 1-star experience for a hotel. We will never go there again.

Positives: Location convenient to cultural areas.

Negatives: Cheap, thin, plastic cups that crack when you try to take off the plastic wrap.

Disappointed in internet service. Signal was "very low," but still could not connect to home page to accept agreement terms, and get to the internet. No one at the desk could help me. Some direct TV channels were also out, due to an outage a day prior. Should have been fixed within a day.

Positives: Very convenient to my business location.

Negatives: Internet did not work in my room; some TV channels not working.
