Rather large hotel near the grounds of Sturbridge Village, business seems to be a mix of tourist trade and conferences. Midscale- nice but not luxurious, Our room was fine, bed comfortable.
Positives: Convenient to interstate.
Negatives: I have no complaints. I suppose I would if I had paid full price for the room.

This is rated as a three star hotel, but it is woefully only a one star hotel. The entire hotel is at least 20 years out of date and worn out. We
Positives: It didn't have bed bugs.
Negatives: It felt unsafe.

This hotel is no way a 3-star hotel! It is old, out-dated and in need of a major renovation! The staff was friendly and polite, but it couldn't compensate for the overall shape of the room and hotel surroundings. My first requirement of any hotel is the cleanliness and attention to detail. This was not met on either front. My room's A/C sounded like a lawn mower engine and needless to say, didn't cool the room! The paint in the hallways and room was in very bad shape. There were two holes on one of the walls in my room that were so poorly patched, I could've done a better repair! You can put yourself into a Hampton Inn or HI Express (which is what I did!) and be much more comfortable.
Positives: Unfortunately, nothing.
Negatives: Overall, condition is quite poor and worn.

The room was generously large, but everything in it was old looking or worn. The bed was comfortable and the linens were nice, but the TV was old and set up in the room in a way that looked potentially dangerous. The WiFi was free, always a plus, and a good connection. However, I am going to have to say overall that this was a really good hotel 25 years ago. It needs serious updating to be brought into the 21st century.
Positives: This hotel is extraordinarily convenient to the Sturbridge Village Museum.
Negatives: This hotel is in serious need of renovation and upgrading. It looks and feels pretty well worn out.

Specializes in business conventions, very large, the most upscale choice in Sturbridge and surrounding area..
Positives: Location, room size..
Negatives: Room a long way from lobby.

This was my third time staying here at the Sturbridge Host Hotel. Every visit has been enjoyable and comfortable. I will be sure to return again. Thankyou to the friendly staff.
Positives: Room quiet and comfortable, meeting rooms very nice and spacious, great spot on the lake, easy to find.
Negatives: Sorry, I can't think of something to write here.

The hotel is near Starbridge village and good eateries. The 100 - 200 rooms were older. Maid did not clean room the first night and we were forced to move. Second room, (poolside) smelled of chlorine. 3rd room we moved to, some rooms was newer and quite nice. The Maintenance man who helped us move was friendly and patient as was the front desk staff. The manager. deducted a movie we watched as a comp for our trouble. The hotel is quiet large and near a lake. It was clean and the towels and beds were new and comfortable.
Positives: The second room we were in was newer.
Negatives: The poolside rooms smelled of chlorine, maid did not clean room, forced to move twice.

Great location and convenient to the parkway and attractions locally, hotel is older and needs to be refreshed.
Positives: Location was convenient.
Negatives: Old and needs to be redone.

The place could use some updating for cosmetic purposes, but who can blame them for not doing it in this economy. The functionality was there, but some of the facilities were a bit dated.
Positives: Convenient to highways without hwy noise and beautiful lake setting.
Negatives: Long hallways and emergency exit is far away.

Overall, it was an excellent stay. Parking was in front and all rooms were in back, so it was a long way to bring luggage. The room was excellent, and the lake on site was very pretty, and the benches by the lake were most relaxing to sit and enjoy the view.
Positives: The location on the lake was very nice.
Negatives: Too long a distance to bring luggage to rooms.

Overall, great experience. The room was nicely decorated with comfortable beds and quilts. The bathroom was clean. Could have used a luggage holder in the closet area. The pool and jacuzzi area was great with nice seating area. The lake was beautiful. Only wish we had used the pedal boats!
Positives: The jacuzzi and pool atrium. Clean bathroom.
Negatives: Check-in hostess was a bit untidy.

Obviously set up for conferences and trade shows. Parking not convenient.
Positives: Staff was friendly and helpful, amenities good, setting nice.
Negatives: Horribly damp room with odor to match, non working hot tub, broken laundry facilities.

Make sure that your room does not face the tent that has parties and weddings or you will get no sleep! Don't ask for Lake View or you may view this tent and the party will sound like its in your room all night! First night the reunion lasted till 11:30 and second night the wedding lasted until 12:30 am, plus all the wedding guests were on our floor and we we kept awake way past 2 am. The walls are like paper and you can hear the TV's and people of next door rooms! Not much to do in the area either. Staff wasn't real friendly or helpful to suggest restaurants, they want you to eat in there's across the parking lot. Ton's of kids around. Lake is nice to sit by if you don't mind lots of kids. Inside pool smells like too much chlorine. Hot tub filled with young kids and should be over 16.
Positives: Easy to get to off 84.
Negatives: Nothing to do nearby. Too much noise at night.

Not what we expected for a 3* hotel. Lobby was uninviting as was the reception. Outside appearance was shabby.
Positives: Once inside the room, it was ok..
Negatives: Long walk from parking to room. Overall rundown appearance.

Rooms were very well situated on a lake with a balcony - the price was very reasonable due to the big conventions they held.
Positives: Great rural setting in a small town area.
Negatives: Electrical and furnishings were questionable.

Surprisingly nice hotel. Very clean, friendly staff, nice rooms and overall very attractive.

Negatives: Parking lot could be little better.

I was disappointed. The bathroom was very small and old looking. Plus not modern. No fan and small sink. The curtains were sheer so you could see through them. This was bad. No privacy whatsoever. Plus restaurants were disappointing for such a large hotel.
Positives: Location to Old Sturbridge Village.
Negatives: Bathroom was very small and "Old" looking. Plus no privacy as curtains were sheers, anyone can see in.

Although this property is in a wonderful location, I would not book another stay here. The Wi-Fi connection is shaky at best. The smell in my non-smoking room was a combination of an ashtray and sweat socks. The bathroom left a lot to be desired as the veneer on the cabinet was coming off due to over exposure to water. When you arrive at the hotel you are given a map of the property which is wonderful because without it you would not be able to find your way around. I will say that if you are lucky enough to have a room with a view of the lake or miniature golf course, you will at least have a decent view. I feel sorry for those that overlook the indoor pool - they have no idea what the weather is like and must hear every echo from the pool, spa and conversations of others passing by.
Positives: Location to Old Sturbridge Village.
Negatives: Hotel could use a complete make over.

This hotel is a place for families. If you are looking for a place to stay for quiet this is not the place for you. My room faced on the patio where the pool was located. It was very loud. Also, there were no windows in my room. The gym had equipment that was so old it was unusable. There is free wireless internet in each room, but there is not place to plug your computer into the internet if you do not have wireless.
Positives: The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating.
Negatives: My room had no windows and faced on the patio where the pool was located. It was very loud.

Very handy location. Good facilities. A little dingy but worth it.
Positives: Location, large room size with WIFI.
Negatives: Place is very old and needs polish.

A large inn with many rooms, a generous pool and spa area in the atrium, and comfortable rooms that is very quiet. I had dinner at the restaurant with a convenient entrance off of the lobby, but the food was nothing noteworthy.
Positives: Quiet location, restaurant just off lobby.
Negatives: Restaurant food mediocre at best.

The hotel is located a few blocks from the entrance to Old Sturbridge Village, which was the purpose of our trip, so it was very convenient. The weekend we were there, the hotel was hosting a craft fair and sale, which was open to the public. There were lines of people waiting to get in and lines of cars looking for parking spots. None of the parking was reserved for hotel guests, so coming and going was a big hassle, much like parking at a sports event. Rooms either overlook a nice lake or the hotel atrium, an enclosed space where the pool is located, as well as gathering areas. Unfortunately, this atrium was where many of the craft booths were set up, so the day before the fair all day long and well into the evening there was constant noise - people pushing dollies loaded with their wares and yelling to each other, children and teens running all over the place. When the fair opened to the public it was like being in the center of it all whether you wanted to or not, even with the sliding doors closed. Glaring lights all night long and a kind of circus-like atmosphere with all those people and the strong smell of kettle korn (or rather the oil they cook it in). There was a nice little balcony with chairs overlooking the atrium, which might have been nice had there not been this fair going on, a nice place to sit and relax and maybe have breakfast. I can only assume it was calm and peaceful in the rooms facing the lake. Apparently those rooms are more expensive. The outside doors were propped open by the exhibitors, so the interior hallways were very cold (it was in the 30s outside). This also made for a security issue, considering the hundreds of non-guests milling about the property. The room was very cold when we first got there, but comfortable once the heat kicked in, basically unmemorable. It could've been cleaner - I got the feeling they just barely put it together for each new guest.
Positives: Minutes from Old Sturbridge Village.
Negatives: They were hosting a craft fair and guests did not seem to be their priority.

Great hotel. Very comfortable rooms and good staff. Also hotel is pet friendly, which is a plus. We have stayed at the hotel many times and our favorite time is the summer as we get to use the beach and the beautiful lake.
Positives: Great place in which we have stayed many times.
Negatives: No problems with hotel.

This hotel is an older Sheraton style place with a large indoor courtyard that can be used as a function facility. The courtyard is surround on 3 sides by rooms on 2 level with a balcony or sliders to a patio. One end has of the courtyard has a pool, and the lobby end has an indoor restaurant. The room was good sized and looked like it was recently renovated. It had one of those new cup at a time coffee makers, but only one pod of regular and one of decaf. One of the 2 double beds had a better mattress so we used that one. The downside of rooms overlooking the courtyard is the noise. People were congregating out there until almost Midnight and we had to call the front desk twice before the people quieted down or went back to their rooms. On a good note, there was a torrential downpour of rain the evening of our stay and the front desk called us when part of their parking lot started flooding. I was able to move my car before the water rose enough to do damage. If you want quiet, I would recommend asking for a room that is not on the courtyard.
Positives: The rooms looked like they were recently updated.
Negatives: The indoor courtyard is an echo chamber and can get quite loud.

The hotel staff was extremely rude to my entire family, and made my wife cry twice. Room service food was absolutely FANTASTIC, when it finally arrived. Yet, even though I ordered room service twice a day for my entire three day stay, not once did the food come without forgetting something (twice they forgot silverware, and three times they forgot the drinks). The hotel has a ton of things for kids to do, including swimming and fishing and paddleboats on the lake. But if you're used to/expecting a Marriot-type setting (as we were) stay elsewhere. The entire hotel has a very rustic/hunting lodge feel to it. That, plus the fact that it is smack-dab in the middle of absolutely nowhere, and added with the hotel staff, adds up to my family, friends and I never returning to this particular hotel
Positives: The food was excellent.
Negatives: The hotel staff was the worst I have ever experienced.

Needs a bit of updating in some of the rooms and should be non-smoking throughout.
Positives: Convenience of everything in one area.
Negatives: Saltwater indoor pool.

Stains all over couch, they covered it with a sheet at my request. No cable, they said it wasn't their fault, it was the cable company. Restaurant was sold out of almost all entrees. Very Noisy, kept up until 3:20 AM. Broken patios doors, felt that belongings were not safe. Room stunk of cigarette smoke even though it was a non smoking room. The lobby was nice but the hotel was old and felt and smelled very unclean.
Positives: NA.
Negatives: Everything was out dated or out of order.

Sprawling old semi-resort. Very low key. Often has events. For this stay, very nice cat show (hundreds of beautiful cats being judged) and outdoor Jaguar auto owners with about 80 stunning cars from 1930s to 2009.
Positives: Nice room, not modern but clean and nice.
Negatives: Nothing to dislike.

Some updating and repair work was in order however.
Positives: Ideal location off the highway.
Negatives: Room was slightly run down and there were 2 thing's broken in the room prior to our arrival.

It is a nice hotel, clean rooms, could use some updates but the worst part is the pool. In the center of the hotel is an indoor pool, indoor gazebo etc. Every single time I stay there - it is freezing and dirty. I stay at this hotel for business and because I have children.
Positives: Convenience.
Negatives: I stay at this hotel several times a year. Every single time I stay there the indoor pool is dirty and freezing cold.

We really like staying at the Host when we are in the Sturbridge area (which is a lot). The only criticism: Can they please make sure the maids check the shower curtains? Ours was moldy in a spot under a fold. But - the new beds, carpet and baths are great - hopefully they will keep the nice new carpets clean in the pet rooms. There is nothing I hate more than dirty carpet and fleas! My dog doesn't have fleas, and I don't want them, either! Thanks!
Positives: Pet friendly!
Negatives: The quality of the in-room coffee is, well, try the New England brand.
