The historic Oxford-Bellevue car ferry runs April-November and provides the 7 mile shortcut across the river from St. Michaels to Oxford. Check-in is at 3 00 PM. Guests planning to arrive before or after this time must contact the property at least 48 hours prior to arrival to receive special check-in instructions. The Robert Morris Inn, dating back to 1710 is one of the oldest historic inns in the United States. Robert Morris, Jr. helped finance the Revolutionary War, numbered George Washington among his friends, and was a signer of the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, and the United States Constitution.
Owned and operated for over thirty years by the Gibson Family, the Inn's hallmarks are simple comfort, quiet hospitality and delicious food, especially our Chesapeake Bay crab cakes and seafood. James A. Michener, author of "Chesapeake", rated the Robert Morris Inn's crab cakes the highest of any restaurant on the Eastern Shore. Sandaway Lodge is located 1/2 block from the Main Inn (down Lovers Lane) and sits on 2 acres of waterfront property with a private beach.
