A truly idyllic setting— in my opinion, one of the most beautifully situated campgrounds in Maine; however, this setting is marred by some significant drawbacks.

Positives: Gorgeous area! The lake is beautiful, with decent fishing, if you know what you are doing. The view of Katahdin is stunning from the waterfront campsites and from one of the best private beaches from the state. ATV trails to some beautiful riding are just a few miles away.

Negatives: The campground itself is not particularly well-run. We were there for a week, and our campsite was next to a porta-potty, which was not cleaned while we were there. At times, we smelled it from our campsite. The shower facilities were moldy and ill-kept, and we would not use them. There is a very poor generator policy: people were allowed loud household generators, which they often ran until quiet time at 10 p.m. People were loud, they played loud music, sang karaoke, and let their children run wild through other people’s campsites and ride bikes through the campground after dark.
