The beautiful and historical City of Florence is located in Boone County, Kentucky. Florence was originally known as Crossroads because it was situated at the intersections of Burlington and Union at Ridge Road, now U.S. Highway 25. On January 27, 1830, the City of Florence was officially incorporated and experienced rapid growth when the Covington-Lexington Turnpike was completed in 1836. Florence is known for its water tower viewable from I-75 reading “Florence Y’all” and its minor league baseball team, the Florence Freedom Independent.
