The Marriott Savory Hotel is conveniently located in Downtown Des Moines. The connection to the sky walk adds comfort during bad weather. The staff is friendly and the food is very good.
Positives: The hotel was conveniently located and the restaurant and bar personnel were fantastic.
Negatives: Very Small bathroom.

I understand that this hotel has a number of different room styles. Our room was relatively small, with a view of a parking garage. The wallpaper and artwork were lovely, but the furnishings were unremarkable. I did appreciate that the room was very quiet and room service was prompt. I wouldn't pay full sticker price for this hotel, but was comfortable with the price we received through Priceline.
Positives: Love the historical style of this hotel. And rooms were quiet!
Negatives: Wouldn't pay full price for this hotel. Room was nice, but not fabulous.

Comfortable and good quality but would not pay rack rate.
Positives: Good location and above avg amenities.
Negatives: Little dated and worn.

For convenience and comfort this hotel was a spectacular bargain. The staff was friendly and helpful and went out of their way to meet or exceed every one of my requests or to answer my questions. I would not hesitate to stay here again.
Positives: The convenience and excellent staff made the stay very nice.
Negatives: Couldn't figure out how to watch the local channels on the television.

I am familiar with the Savery Hotel over the last 40 years of my professional practice. Its a great hotel for meetings and groups, and has small but cheery rooms. The air/heat system is noisy but works. Rooms have marginally adequate non-digital TVs. Bathrooms have old style tubs with modern fixtures.
Positives: Great modern upgrades to an old architecturally obsolescent hotel.
Negatives: Smaller rooms than other hotels rated 3+ stars.

This is a nice hotel with a friendly staff. I expected a little more considering it's a Renaissance, however it is a 3 1/2 star and that's pretty much what you can expect.
Positives: Great location and friendly staff.
Negatives: I didn't like the fact that when I first showed up I was told that I had to stay in a room with double beds or handicapped room.

I really liked this hotel. My view was great (I requested an upper level room). The beds were fantastic. I am not a fan of hard beds and these were great. Very close to Court Ave where there are a lot of bars and restaurants. Parking was a little expensive but if you could get a spot on the street, it was free on the weekends. The lounge was very cozy and the bartenders were very personable. I would recommend this hotel.
Positives: I loved the beds. Lots of pillows and very comfortable.
Negatives: Parking was a little expensive.

Nicely appointed historic building. The non-smoking King was comfortable, bed excellent in firmness. Quiet within and no outside noise apparent. Staff friendly, helpful, and efficient.Very cheap municipal parking ramp adjacent for 3.75 per night.
Positives: Historic downtown setting with nicely appointed rooms.
Negatives: Limited cable channels.

We loved staying in this hotel. It was very convenient to where we needed to be. Our biggest complaint was that the room only had double beds. Plus when we called about our air conditioning the engineer came right away and told us that this room's air never worked well.<BR/>Even with that it was a very nice experience.
Positives: Convenient, hotel employees were all very nice and helpful.
Negatives: Our room had a terrible view, ac didn't work but they gave us a fan.

We enjoyed staying at this hotel because the rooms are nice and the staff is friendly. The room service staff were nice when they brought us breakfast , but I have to say that the pancakes were just awful. We ordered the banana pancakes and the blueberry pancakes and both were yucky. The dough tasted bad and was raw in the middle. My granddaughter and I could not eat them at all.
Positives: I liked the big comfortable rooms and beds.
Negatives: The pancakes were horrible.

Upscale older hotel with great staff and location.
Positives: It was a very historic hotel that has had an incredible renovation.
Negatives: Because of the age of the building, the bathroom in our room was smaller than most closets. The floor space was only about 3' x 5'.

Location is great. Lobby is attractive and welcoming. Floors feel uneven to walk on but are covered by newer carpets. Historic update formed 2 full bathrooms in room barely big enough to turn around in. Updated carpets and furnishings without structural upgrades (wall & ceiling board, floors, doors, etc.) make it feel like a cosmetic only face lift. Hot water did not work in the room at 6-8 am. Front desk said there was an issue (hotel wide) and they were working on it but offered no alternative. Went to appointment without shower.
Positives: Historic hotel in great downtown location.
Negatives: Historic update not done well. Floors are uneven, bathrooms small, etc.

I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into the hotel. On the outside it looked older but when we arrived inside you could tell it was recently renovated. The rooms were huge, and I liked the King room with 2 pull out love seats, walk in closet and dressing area separate from the bathroom. The only issue we had was the heat would not turn off. We had it set on 55 and it was still like an oven in there. Same with our friends who stayed on the same floor, a few rooms away. Still I would go back in a heart beat.
Positives: Older on the outside but renovated on the inside. Free Internet.
Negatives: The elevators were really slow sometimes taking 10 minutes to get you. The heat wouldn't turn down.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the savory. The desk clerk went above and beyond by granting my request for an early check in. I called at 7:30am and was allowed to check in at 11. Her flexiblity was greatly appreciated.
Positives: Very quiet, comfortable, and clean.
Negatives: Parking availability.

Very elegant.
Positives: Two showers in our room.
Negatives: Construction noise.
