The rooms are not that nice. I've stayed at Hilton's with nicer rooms, more comfortable beds, more luxurious bathrooms and for half the price. But you can't beat the view, the ambiance, basically everything outside the room. And everyone from the front desk to the valets to the housekeepers had a real aloha spirit. I would actually stay there again in spite of the rooms because of the location, but I doubt I'd ever pay their rack rate!
Positives: Gorgeous ocean views and
Negatives: High resort fee, rooms badly need to be renovated.

Really big. The hotel could use an update, but the rooms were nice. The hotel was just too expensive for what it was.
Positives: The protected bay was great snorkel spot.
Negatives: Too far away from island attractions.

Turtle Bay is a wonderful place! The location is awe-inspiring and such a welcome change from the hustle and bustle of other Oahu resorts (mostly in Waikiki). The rooms all seem to have ocean views and were spacious, comfortable and tastefully decorated. The pool area is large with amazing ocean views. The hotel has a variety of activities - my husband and I hiked on the trails going out of the resort area everyday and my husband loved the Palmer golf course. This is truly one of the best places I've ever been.
Positives: Amazing location and great views.
Negatives: Pool side restaurant was overpriced and not very good.

The Turtle Bay Resort was paradise. The beaches are amazing. Every room has a view of the ocean. The employees at the resort were helpful. You couldn't ask for more.
Positives: Located on Hawaii's North Shore, away from the main cities of Oahu this Resort is truly a relaxing get away.
Negatives: Charged $25/day resort fee.

Nice hotel if you are not concerned with price. They seem to nickel and dime you with resort fees (steep), charging for ocean views that are not truly ocean views, unless you count that you can visibly see the ocean. No free internet access here! Staff was pleasant and prompt (stopped up toilet fixed promptly). Place was clean enough. Lovely setting!
Positives: Proximity to north shore beaches, very picturesque.
Negatives: Buffet food on 2 evenings was of left-over quality. Not very good.

The property is even prettier than the pictures suggest! My 83-year old Mother become ill at the table in the dining room and one of the wait staff was truly amazing. She was so kind and genuine in assisting my Mother with extra napkins and helping her feel less anxious for having made a mess. Overall, it was a wonderful way to introduce the island beauty to my Mom and Aunt before moving to the exciting, but congested, Waikiki for two nights!

Positives: Amazing views from every angle!
Negatives: Unfortunately, my in-room safe did not work, and requested service to repair never happened!

Hotel is located on the windy north shore of Oahu - quiet and peaceful location compared to downtown Honolulu. All of the rooms had amazing views. The rooms are good size and well maintained with an excellent housekeeping department. Bathrooms are a bit dated, but perfectly adequate. Facilities are all very much resort oriented but the costs are quite high. Parking and internet are some of the extras given as part of this fee. Restaurants were all only fair and quite expensive.
Positives: Gorgeous views, tranquil and peaceful.
Negatives: Tons of extra hidden costs - food super expensive.

I expected much better from a 5 star resort. View was disappointing, room small and cramped even with an upgrade. I would hate to see the original room if this was really an upgraded room. We also had to take a smoking room as a non-smoking room was not available and yet the resort looked very empty. The pool area was closed for repairs. I would have been very upset if I had paid their normal rates. They also charged resort fees as a daily extra charge on top of their ridiculous room rates.
Positives: Public spaces were nice.
Negatives: Even at the discount price I was disappointed in the room.

Our hotel room was nice. The paint in the room was old and had been poorly applied. The handle on the sliding glass door was broke making it very difficult to enjoy the large balcony I paid so much for. If the hotel room had looked like the common areas it would have been a 10 star!
Positives: Nice amenities, beautiful grounds, and the beach.
Negatives: Resort fee on top of my room fee.

Outstanding location, however this resort hasn't lived up to expectations. I am here now and continually find the staff cold and unresponsive. For the price, and my memories of its reputation I remember I expected better attention. I am continually disappointed. We'll be here for 3 more days. If it gets any better I'll note it in another review, but unless you hear from me again, it means my lowered expectations are being met. Too bad. It appears this resort, located on one of the loveliest places on the planet, is way past its prime.
Positives: Location.
Negatives: Service.

Very friendly to all. Great to see the children having so much fun with parents on the slide. Ease of baggage handling. Great point from which to visit much of North Shore. Sure beats Honolulu. Would like to come back when the notorious big swells are in.
Positives: The view of the bay was great
Negatives: I wish the check-out time was later.

The setting of Turtle Bay is great. The ocean for surfing, the hiking trails, golf. What more can anyone ask for. Best of all was a helpful and courteous staff.
Positives: The view, the grounds, laid-back atmosphere.
Negatives: Inadequate parking - too much empty space for valet and not enough for self parking.

We stayed here for 4 nights earlier in March. It is the most amazing place that I have ever stayed. The ambiance is fabulous, & the location is out of this world. Only comment was that the Palm Terrace restaurant was expensive. Don't hang any clothes on the balcony as they can be blown away!
Positives: The lobby was beautifully appointed with fresh flowers & comfortable chairs.
Negatives: Palm Terrace restaurant was expensive & the hostess a little abrupt.

Very nice resort that has seen better days, but still very nice. We had a full ocean view with full balcony, which was worth the extra few dollars. Room was comfortable but not luxurious, and a little dated. The grounds are beautiful, and well kept, not much pool space for the size of the hotel, but we always got a lounge chair. Workout room was small and almost crowded, and the towels ran out by 8AM.
Positives: The setting is second to none. Gorgeous views.
Negatives: The room was a little dated, sparse furniture.

My husband and I had a great time at Turtle Bay Resort and would recommend it highly. The location is amazing, with rooms that look over the ocean on all sides. The staff was very friendly and provided excellent service during our stay. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet every morning especially the local fruit that was very fresh. My husband took surf lessons on location and stood up the first time. The instructors were great and we have awesome pictures to go with the experience. The pool was clean and the poolside smoothies are great. We really enjoyed being in North Shore away from the hustle of the big city. Be prepared to tip well, because the service is that good. Overall, I would highly recommend Turtle Bay Resort to friends and family.
Positives: The breakfast buffet was excellent and the location was spectacular.
Negatives: The public beach to the right of the pool was average due to access by non guests.

My lower overall rating is because they put a $20 per day resort fee on my bill. They rationalized the resort fee was for tennis, parking and internet connection. We did not use tennis or internet and we only had one car, but were charged the fee to both of our rooms. This is a blatantly fraudulent charge! They said every room is charged the resort fee. The resort is in a nice bay with good scenery, but everything was way overpriced. The food at Leilei was also poor besides costing an arm and a leg. The Ola restaurant which is on the property, but not run by Turtle Bay is good.
Positives: Nice bay, nice room with views, good snorkeling which was 15 minutes away.
Negatives: Fraudulent $20 daily resort fee charge for use of nothing, way overpriced, poor food at restaurant.

Amazing view from the balcony, comfortable and well appointed room. Lovely grounds for someone who likes to walk. An excellent choice for a romantic, family, or business trip.
Positives: The scenery was just beautiful and the service was excellent.
Negatives: Restaurants were too expensive.

Positives: Location.
Negatives: Nothing.

Very impressive from the moment you arrive. The ocean view rooms are outstanding and we really appreciated the fridge which we used to shop locally and keep lots of extra supplies. There's good snorkeling, horseback riding, heated kiddies pool with slide, great beaches. The grounds are gorgeous! Golf and tennis courts are beautiful. I highly recommend this hotel to make the most of Oahu and get away from the hectic crowded pace of Honolulu and Waikiki.
Positives: It was very family friendly- the rooms were great & the pool, beaches and stables made our whole trip!
Negatives: The restaurants were not reasonably priced for large families and breakfast is not included.
