Beautifully appointed inside and out with charming reminders of the "old days" in Hawaii while still providing every modern convenience imaginable. Live music under the banyon tree twice daily. Just step outside to the pool and literally a few more steps to the beautiful beach and the ocean lapping at your toes.

Positives: Easy access to beach, shopping, food. Beautiful inside and out! Lovely old building and grounds.

Negatives: Pool closed way too early every day (6 PM)

Initially we were put into a king room with one bed (2 kids and 2 adult travelers). There was no way that we would stay in that room for even an hour! When we contacted the hotel manager his response to me inviting him to the room to experience it for himself was something to the effect that he was not denying that the room was as described, he was well aware of the condition of the room. He said that he had no rooms for us and I suggested that he put us into 2 rooms until the rooms became available. We were ready to leave. His first reaction was to refuse that and offered to send us all across the street to the Sheraton. Eventually, after lengthy discussions with him he offered to put us into two rooms (which were 100% better) and then on the second night we were moved to a tower room, (which was beautiful). Unfortunately, we had to fight for the accommodation and service that we should have received in the first place. It seemed that he granted us this under duress.

Positives: Great location and decor in renovated areas.

Negatives: Unfriendly and can't-do staff attitudes.

Annoyed the picturesque views thru the hotel out to the crashing waves of Waikiki beach. The hotel is located right in the middle of the action for plenty to walk and do or relax on the beach or in the evenings in the pool area. very friendly helpful staff.

Positives: The hotel lobby area and view to the water was awesome, staff was very friendly.

Negatives: The basic room we got was very small.

We had two twin beds in the old wing. Believe me; it felt every minute of its age. The view is great, the public spaces are lovely and it is Hawaii so really how much does a great room matter? If you are trying to save a little on a room, Waikiki is the place to cut back. Save your $$$ for the other islands. From what we could tell all the rooms in Waikiki were about the same. Good value.

Positives: It has a lot of period details, the location is great.

Negatives: We were in the old wing and it is old!

The hotel staff placed us in one of the worst rooms in the hotel. Balcony was right on roof and just few feet across from next hotel. Always being put in the worst room in the hotel is a repeated problem..

Positives: Great location in Waikiki and on the beach.

Negatives: Front drive traffic was so bad it was useless to drop off or pick up luggage at front of hotel and instead had to carry it blocks.

The hotel was located right in the heart of Waikkiki so you could walk to everything. However, at night because of its location, it was very loud from all the luaus and other night entertainment from other hotels.

Positives: Central location in Waikkiki.

Negatives: Very noisy at night.
