The staff is friendly and very helpful. The lobby, mezzanine and public spaces are well kept and modern but the rooms need updating. The bathroom needs a total makeover with the focus being a shower made for individuals over 5'6. They seem to be working on it since we heard major renovations in the room right above starting at 9am on the dot. Housekeeping just makes the bed and drops off towels but never dust or wipe the counters. This hotel is in a great location and has the potential to compete with the neighboring hotels if they put some time and effort into their rooms.
Positives: Friendly staff and well kept public spaces.
Negatives: Rooms need updating and housekeeping did not clean/dust.

Nice place to stay.
Positives: The location and staff.
Negatives: The guest daily parking fee was higher than 4/5 star hotels in the area.

Hotel is clean, has comfortable beds, and is relatively close to the beach. For the price, it was what we expected. However, if you spend a lot of time in the hotel, it does not have much to offer.
Positives: The warm cookies they gave at check in!
Negatives: No concierge service nor continental breakfast.

Overall, I was satisfied with my stay. I got what I expected according to the star rating. The staff was very friendly and it has the amenities I needed. I would definitely come back here.
Positives: The staff is very friendly and location is not too far from the beach.
Negatives: My room was not thoroughly cleaned and the gym was tiny.

Good location for our purpose, comfortable, friendly staff.
Positives: Small hotel, comfy beds, good location for our purposes.
Negatives: Parking way too expensive -$27/day, didn't know how expensive until after parked.

Negatives: Internet fee charged on my credit card whereas I required to pay cash.

Great hotel with friendly service. Very close to attractions in Waikiki area.
Positives: The staff

Overall the rooms were comfortable and clean. The staff was great with our needs. Hotel was at full capacity and under renovation, so we did not get all our room requests and the full use of hotel amenities.
Positives: The hotel staff was helpful in all aspects.
Negatives: Housekeeping does not check room essentials well.

Very busy with teens in sports teams. They were largely unsupervised and ran amok of the public areas.
Positives: Friendly staff.
Negatives: Pet friendly and many sports teams / dirty.

This was a nice hotel near the beach for the price. The staff were very professional. During our stay, the fitness centre was undergoing renovation which was a major disappointment. The pool was very basic and unwelcoming. It had free Wi-Fi in public areas that was very helpful.
Positives: Comfortable, clean, near the beach.
Negatives: The fitness center was closed for renovation.

Loved it. the cookies are a must have. Great price, friendly & clean.
Positives: The cookies & the price.
Negatives: No hot tub, wish it was closer to beach.

This is a very clean, well run Doubletree hotel. Excellent polite staff, clean rooms and comfy beds. Black out curtains actually kept the room dark, Hawaii or not a dark room is a must for me. The refrigerator in the room wasn't running cold, but if one stashed some ice in it, it worked as a cooler.
Positives: Very close to Bus lines and good location for Waikiki.
Negatives: I did not like paying for internet access $10 per day and parking, $20 per day.

Immaculate corner room with ocean view, a floor right below the penthouse; it couldn't have been any more perfect for us! Room service was quick; the food (J's Egg Special; yummy!) was delicious. Not to mention the warm cookie upon checking in; nice touch! I was so happy with the accommodations and service.
Positives: Spacious corner room, the double lanai's and quick elevators. The bed was comfortable, too!
Negatives: The price of valet, the only option to park, at $22 was super high, in my opinion.

If you are a business traveler looking for a central location than may be this hotel works. Otherwise keep on looking you will be extremely disappointed. The hotel is extremely outdated, the rooms are small, the view is not good unless you came to Hawaii to look at other buildings. The parking at the hotel is 20 dollars per day that is not included with the room. The workout facility only has one elliptical, one bike and one treadmill all in horrible shape. The pool is tiny and has very minimal space around it for seating. Over all I would not recommend this hotel. The only positive thing I can say is the staff is extremely nice.
Positives: It had a decent downtown location.
Negatives: The Hotel should not have been rated 3 star!

Double Tree Alana needs to have warm, friendly service upon check in, the valet service when pulling up told us "Valet is only for hotel guest" without even asking "Aloha, are you checking in today?" The hallways to your room felt as if I was at Best Western Motel, the carpets are dirty, the view is overlooking a hostel place which made feel unsecured if you were to leave your lanai/patio door open, the valet service was too expensive $22.00 and they only had valet service. Although this hotel is a franchise off of the Hilton, I would rate this hotel a 2 star.
Positives: The bed was very comfortable.
Negatives: It was in a slummy area, bathroom too small, complimentary coffee was not at all good.

Great location on east end of Waikiki Beach, but the beds had bedbugs and the bath was odd - small (3' x 3') and very high tub with shower overhead, which was not good for children to try to climb in and out of.
Positives: Hot chocolate chip cookies at check-in!
Negatives: Bedbugs!

I checked in and it was obvious the motel was vacant. I asked for a free upgrade and got rebuked. The room was very nice the pool was just a pool with nothing outstanding about it. While happy hour was affordable the bar brags of being a wine bar. I asked for a chardonnay and I observed the bar tender pour the remaining of one bottle in my glass, and then open up different label wine, mixing the two. While both were chardonnay one was fermented in oak the other was not. I was thirsty and broke it was a full pour at 44.50 (happy hour).
Positives: The room itself was nice but dont look out your window. Happy hour for beer and wine was very affordable.
Negatives: The outside view.

The hotel was okay, but the cupboards in my room were falling apart and had to be repaired twice during my stay. The food was atrocious. I'm not really all that picky, but the room service was literally inedible (except for the French onion soup - that was fine). I also tried ordering up from the restaurant and it was not good - the worst cut of meat I've probably ever had, and just not good for a $35 meal.
Positives: The location was nice, the staff was helpful.
Negatives: Not really a three star hotel experience.
