I tipped the door man when I got there for helping with luggage and missed tipping him when I used the hotel car and he was a "dick" the rest of the stay. My girlfriend left her camera in the room and took 8 phone calls and 3 days to get them to say they had the camera. Then they charged her to send it to her.
Positives: Location.
Negatives: Door Man and lost and found.

Classic luxury meets stunning views of the city in your perch high atop Nob Hill.
Positives: Great location, classic luxury.
Negatives: Nothing

The hotel itself was wonderful and the location is quite nice. My only complaint is the ridiculous charge of $51 to park overnight. Outrageous!
Positives: The luxurious atmosphere was wonderful after a week on the road.
Negatives: $51 to park for one night is ridiculous!

For an older hotel the ambience will always be there. Especially enjoyed The Top of the Mark room.
Positives: The spaciousness of the room and bathroom, high ceiling.
Negatives: The water pressure in the shower and the basin were inadequate.

The staff was courteous, but not genuine. spaces are clean; room's neat, but shows some age; air-conditioning works well. View was not spectacular as
I was on the 3rd floor. Gym was small, but functional - limited free weights (goes up to 35lb dumb bell), 2 elliptical 2 treadmill.
Positives: The bed.
Negatives: No free WiFi, and pricey parking.

Overall, our stay was pleasant, but you will really want to eat out because of the ridiculously expensive restaurant they have. They should have the expensive one and also one cafeteria for some quick breakfast or room service. The personnel was very kind, but I had to ask for more soap to the maid because by the third day they wouldn't provide us with new ones, even though we were almost out of it.

Positives: The room was very nice, clean and luxurious.
Negatives: The restaurant only has two options for breakfast: buffet (quite expensive) and pastries w/coffee, also very expensive.

Clean, upscale property with very friendly and
helpful employees. Good location near cable car routes and the Top of the Mark is a classic bar for all including special locations. Needs an inexpensive casual cafe.
Positives: Upgraded my room after making us wait at check-in at 1:00 pm.
Negatives: Paying $50 per night for parking is ridiculous. Will not do that again.

Overall a great place to stay. The staff was the highlight! Friendly, helpful and attentive. Carolyn from Louisianna made me feel right at home! The room was clean and attractive but the street noisy outside? Next time I would request a room on the back away from street.
Positives: The bed! One of the lady staff in the kitchen! I ordered room service and she was delightful.
Negatives: The food from room service, poor for price! Ordered hamburger med-well and it was burnt on outside and raw in middle.

While an older building, it is very well maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only downside is that it was our anniversary, and our son arranged for champagne and strawberries on our anniversary through the hotel. The card that came with was signed by the hotel - no indication that it was from our son.
Positives: Great location in the center of everything. Maid service excellent.
Negatives: For the price, WiFi should be free.

Be sure to bid low for the room because they up-charges will cost you plenty at this lovely hotel.
Positives: Lovely old world charm in a stunning area of San Francisco.
Negatives: $57 per night parking; $18 per day Internet access.

Customer relation. I booked the hotel because of a promotion that was a substantial discount plus 2 free breakfasts. My receipt did not mention the breakfasts and when I called one of the lady staff at once she was unhelpful and brusk. I asked her to go on the site to look at the offer advertised, she said she was unable to. I have bought from your company various times and know this to be untrue. I explained I bought the deal based on the breakfasts - we never got them. It ruined the stay in the hotel.

This is an experience of the past hotel. Upscale and much tipping.
Positives: The view at the top pf the Mark was spectacular. It was booked because of the holidays, but the last day breakfast was served to regular clients at the hotel.
Negatives: No small restaurants in neighborhood to get coffee.

A beautiful, historic hotel in a very tony part of the city. A great view from the Top of the Mark.
Positives: Beautiful rooms, excellent lobby, courteous parking attendants, mostly courteous reception agents.
Negatives: They mixed up our reservations, people were told our room was empty, didn't clean room the first night, given free drinks but were given a bill.

The restaurant's food was quite expensive, even for Nob Hill. All of the selections I had were tasty, though, so if you're willing to pay for the convenience, it could be worth the cost.
Positives: Manager was super attentive to problems that arose.
Negatives: There was an issue with billing, even after it was sorted, I had trouble ordering room service, etc.

The main entrance was decorated so beautifully. Very impressive looking. The view from the top of the Mark was beautiful. I have always wanted to stay at the Mark Hopkins and Priceline made it possible. Thank You
Positives: The hotel looked beautiful. The Christmas decorations were very pretty!
Negatives: Walking to and from Union Square was a little difficult do to the steep hill. A taxi ride was only $ 5.60 and worth if you have packages.

This is a beautiful hotel, and it was a treat to stay here for a great Priceline price. We would do this again!
Positives: Room was beautiful, friendly staff, beautiful city view from room.
Negatives: I liked everything, except in-room bar/food selection was too expensive!

Beautiful rooms, BIG clean bathrooms, staff is amazing, location is great. Walking to it is difficult as it sits at the TOP of a hill, but cable cars (California Line) run right in front and Powell is one block downhill. The bar/restaurant at the top floor, Top Of the Mark, is awesome. Great live entertainment!
Positives: Wonderful service, great location, friendly staff, clean and nice rooms.
Negatives: Top of nob hill. Walking to it is uphill and

We genuinely liked this hotel. The location is great. The staff is friendly. The public spaces are very very nice. Our only objection is the room size. They are definitely cramped quarters although, to be fair, only slightly smaller than other large city hotel rooms. We thought it was very fairly priced.
Positives: It has beautiful old-world feel and elegance.
Negatives: The rooms are small (although, that is expected in S.F.)

I enjoyed the overall experience of staying at this hotel. It is in one of the most beautiful areas in San Francisco. The rooms are lovely. The fitness facility is descent. The entrance is great. The cable cars are nearby. The café across from the cable car museum down the road is wonderful for breakfast.
Positives: The room was glorious and the service of the cleaning staff.
Negatives: The view from the room isn't spectacular. Not surprising.

My opinion of the intercontinental hotel chain has been completely changed after this visit to San Francisco. The room was dirty and the beds supremely uncomfortable. I literally twist and turned the entire night.
Positives: Architecturally speaking the front entrance.
Negatives: Uncomfortable beds, hair in bath tub/on towels, very low water pressure.

If you want to have a quiet nights sleep, stay some place else.
Positives: It is a great old hotel.
Negatives: The street noise. Whistling for a taxi, people yelling, the trolley cars. All night long. If you want a good nights sleep, stay some place else.

A great experience. Romantic and elegant. Good location for walking in San Francisco.
Positives: Elegant, historic, luxurious, and great location.
Negatives: Difficult to find parking. Had to use valet. Steep hills.

Beautiful five star hotel I got cheap on Priceline. I always ask for a high floor (view) away from the elevator (noise). Business trip, just me, one night. They put me on the third floor across from the elevator. I complained but they said that's all they had. The The Mark Hopkins International had a chance to lock me up as a future guest (we visit SF a lot) and they didn't. Back to the Fairmont or Omni.
Positives: Beautiful hotel.
Negatives: Very tiny bathroom - stand in tub to shut door.

The Mark Hopkins is a very gracious hotel with personnel who are among the most welcoming I've encountered. The hotel has been lovingly maintained and everything I needed was immediately at hand.
Positives: Intercontinental Club was very convenient and the personnel called me by name each time I went in.
Negatives: The "Top of the Mark" is the only restaurant in the hotel. There is no cafe or coffee shop,

This hotel is steeped in the history of San Francisco. Wonderful room on the 14th floor with a grand view. The staff is quick to respond to any request and is clearly professional. The top of the Mark restaurant/lounge located atop the building is hard to get into and you should definitely make advanced reservations.
Positives: Beautiful, historic building right on the trolley car line, wonderful room.
Negatives: The cost for parking your car there with tax $53 a night!
Reviewer: Not provided on Mon 13 Jul 2009 rated 9 out of 10.
The hotel was super clean and gorgeous. I upgraded my room to get a room on the higher levels for $40 which was absolutely worth it for the skyline view. The room was spacious and totally could be shared with others. I was sad to leave such a pretty establishment. The internet was $12 per day and the valet parking was like $52 per day.
Positives: Breathtaking views at night time.
Negatives: The location in order to find the hotel and the parking.
Reviewer: Not provided on Thu 30 Apr 2009 rated 9 out of 10.
Very nice, very well up kept (except the smoking floor, avoid the smoking floor) and the staff nice. Overall 3.5 stars+.
Positives: I liked the style of the hotel; nice clean lines and distinct colors. The location is great, on the top of Nob Hill overlooking the city.
Negatives: Arrived later that evening (9 pm) and room requested was sold out - had to settle for a double twin instead of king bed or the smoking floor.

Good hotel, great location. Parking is $46 per day. From SFO take a cab $40 or BART to Powell Station ($5) + ($6) for Cab to the Hotel. Once here you can take a Cable + Muni car pass for the few days that you are there and have a great time.
Positives: Walking distance from Chinatown, Union Square, North beach and not that far from the Wharf either.
Negatives: None.
Reviewer: Not provided on Sat 07 Mar 2009 rated 9 out of 10.
Staff was helpful (especially the concierge) and you felt good going back to your room each day. I actually wanted to spend time there as opposed to other places I have stayed at.
Positives: Beautiful and historic, luxurious, location and views of the city incredible.
Negatives: Prices on water bottles in room not good- bring your own water or what a concept- drink from the tap!

This hotel has always been a first class hotel in SF and continues to set the pace for quality, in every way. I would consider myself very fortunate. It is one of the jewels in the crown of great SF hotels.
Positives: Every detail contributed to the first class quality of this hotel.
Negatives: The hotel was fabulous, the walk up the hill to get to it was a bit of a challenge but good exercise!
