Arrived late in evening. Front desk sat on computer not acknowledging us for lost ten minutes. Finally complained, front desk said computer slow, (which is not likely). Front desk offered us club lounge room with convertible queen. Turns out that means sleeper sofa. After seeing room, we declined and were put in normal room. Other than that, room was fine and service was friendly. Surprised management would allow rental of tiny room with sleeper sofa, though. Cannot imagine any traveler choosing that room. New decor probably not to tastes of most people, but suits a San Francisco hotel well. Overall, would recommend.

Positives: Bed comfortable.

Negatives: Front desk awful.

Great stay!

Positives: View from the 36th floor.

Negatives: Door man wouldn't let me use luggage cart on my own.

Excellent service. Beautiful views of the city. I stayed in a hotel in LA on the same trip that cost 3 times as much and I was more pleased with the service in this hotel.

Positives: The views of Union Square were incredible.

Negatives: The room was connected to another room and noise traveled easily.

This was not what we expected. If we wanted a 3 star hotel, we would have bid on one. The whole facade and possibly some of the rooms were under construction. We could barely find the door into the lobby. We were celebrating our 11 year Anniversary and wanted to stay somewhere nice/romantic, which is why we bid on a 4 star hotel. This place is safe, has some nice city views and is in a great location, but it's outdated and generic. Our room didn't have a mini bar, fridge, safe or any extras really, which you'd expect out of a 4 star. In fact, we couldn't even shower, because our room didn't get hot water! You'd be better off staying in some of the three star boutique hotels in the city where there is at least some personality. Thumbs down!

Positives: The location is great. Great view from our room.

Negatives: This was a three star hotel at best. No mini bars, old out dated decor. No hot water. Loud street noise.

The staff at this hotel were so accommodating and helpful. After we got the hotel I emailed them requesting non smoking room, quiet room away from elevators and ice machines because we were traveling with a baby. I forgot to ask for a crib so when we checked in I asked for one and they delivered it as we were getting to the room. The room was clean, quiet and overall it was a great experience! The staff should be commended!

Positives: Accommodating, clean, friendly, nice, great location and

Negatives: It was excellent all around.

If you are a traveler with expectations of a grandiose, 4-star quality hotel, skip the Hyatt at Union Square in San Francisco. From the unwelcoming entry, to the tiny lobby and reception area, to the overpriced daily parking fees, and the furniture in need of repair in our private room, there are several other competitive, prestigious places to stay when visiting San Francisco.

Positives: Location to Union Square, SF.

Negatives: Unwelcoming entry, tiny lobby with no seating, our room had chairs in disrepair.

Gym was very nice but overall very expensive because everything was extra cost.

Positives: Close to bus and wharf, etc.

Negatives: Internet and phone was extra, no pool.

I am a traveler and very picky and critical of where I stay. This hotel met above and beyond my expectations.

Positives: Great location and very clean.

Negatives: Buffet breakfast was not very good for the price paid. Few choices.

The hotel is of excellent location! You really can’t beat it. The rooms are 3 star hotel quality if that. My first room rattled and creaked when the wind blew. The staff was so nice and courteous they moved me immediately. The second room had a carpet patch cut out of it and the replacement carpet wasn’t the same. Bathtub and shower are really tiny. Great hotel if you aren’t planning on hanging out in your room. Good for sleeping and getting ready to step out. Very helpful and friendly staff! I’m not sure if I’d pay more than I would for a 3 star hotel here aside from the fact that the location was superb. Restaurant up top has a fantastic view.

Positives: Great location!

Negatives: Hotel rooms are in need of an update.

The hotel staff was wonderful and extremely helpful. The beds and pillows were delightful and the 36th floor bar had great drinks and an even better view!

Positives: The beds and pillows were wonderful. Ipod dock for alarm clock.

Negatives: Construction out front. Old bathrooms.

Thirty-six stories of convenient large rooms. Everything about this hotel is "business comfortable."

Positives: Convenience, courtesy of staff, layout of rooms, and comfort.

Negatives: Business room charged to access email.

Location of the hotel is excellent. Access to most forms of public transport (sometimes with a bit of walking). We actually walked to Fisherman's Wharf too.

Positives: Location.

Negatives: Toilets in the room and housekeeping standards didn't live up to the Hyatt brand.

This is a good hotel in a convenient and active area of San Francisco, less than a block from Union Square and a short walk from both the Montgomery and Powell BART stops. It also has a cool restaurant and piano bar on the 36th floor which affords great views over the city. The room was nice and clean, the bed was comfortable (though not quite as great as the one at the Fairmont).

Positives: Well-appointed, clean rooms in a good location.

Negatives: In-room refrigerator has sensor and room is automatically charged if guest moves items around. But, desk was quick to cancel charges.

If you are in town to shop, this is the location for you - right on Union Square. The high floors provide excellent views of the city and the bay. The staff is very attentive and there is a feel of sophistication throughout.

Positives: High floors provide excellent view of the city.

Negatives: Four star hotel should have flat screen TV.

If you are looking for sumptuous amenities, this is not the hotel for you. However, if a prime location for shopping is what you are after, then this hotel is ideal.

Positives: The location for shopping.

Negatives: The decor & room was old.

The Hyatt was a wonderful find for us on Priceline. We got a great deal and an excellent room. The rooms are a bit older in decor and could use an update to the televisions. However, they were very clean and comfortable. The front desk staff was very accommodating and gave us a few extra hours to check out because we were taking a morning tour of Alcatraz. When we arrived, it was a bit hectic to unload at the curb and the bell staff was busy with all of the incoming guests. The hotel is on a busy corner - so cabs, cars, pedestrians - it was pretty cluttered. The valet parking was $ 50 so we opted to self park around the corner for $ 32. We left our luggage with bell staff while we parked and when we came back he was gone. We started to push the cart ourselves to the elevator and another member of the staff came over (we thought to help) but instead rudely said "you need to bring that cart right back down after you are done with it". We took it ourselves and to us - not a big deal, but were a little surprised with this. Other than that - wonderful experience, great downtown hotel.

Great location, horrible service. We called to confirm one king bed and when we arrived they didn't have any available. We didn't even receive an apology from Eduardo (gentleman at the front desk). The air conditioner in the room hardly worked and when somebody was sent up to check on it all he did was show us how to use the air conditioner.

Positives: Location.

Negatives: Customer service.

The location was ideal for Union Square, China Town and cable car pickup. It was clean and comfortable, but with no frills or uniqueness.
