When we got our room, it wasn't on a higher city-view floor as promised. After complaining I was told the upper floors were completely booked. We received 2 complimentary breakfasts for our troubles which was a $35 value. That made up for the mistake, but other travelers might be harder to please. The room itself was clean, and the bath and bathroom are delightful.

Positives: The bed was comfortable, and the Japanese baths were fantastic.

Negatives: Did not receive the upper floor room we expected.

Hotel was very nice and clean with a very relaxing atmosphere. Room and bed were also clean and comfortable with very nice amenities including cozy bath robes and wonderful soaps/lotions. The Japanese soaking tub was very nice as well, a special treat.

Positives: Very peaceful, clean with a simple elegance. Very courteous/polite staff.

Negatives: Small details in room condition need updated, ie paint touch ups.

If you like unique experiences in ethnic neighborhoods, decent prices and good access to bus lines anywhere in the city, this place is it. If you want something traditional, perfect and yawn, well, I don't stay where you want to stay.

Positives: Cool theme, great neighborhood. Maybe not for everyone but we loved it.

Negatives: The room was not quite immaculate but comfortable. Bathroom lacks a door.

Japanese with a nod to the West. Deep tub but also with big beds. Newly remodeled, clean, quiet. Lots of Eastern touches everywhere like small Zen garden outside. Very good value. In middle of Japan Town so lots of restaurants nearby. Close to the Fillmore Auditorium.

Positives: Great Bathtub.

Negatives: Only one valet for the 10 cars checking in.

The room are very noisy, both from street traffic and from the hotels own hallways. Don't expect to get good nights sleep here at all. While the ambiance and decorations of the public space is great, the rooms are slightly underwhelming. The extra sitting area consisted of exactly one chair, and the "balcony" was less than a foot wide and covered by astro turf.

Positives: The public areas and of the hotel were superb.

Negatives: Didn't meet expectations.

Overall, we were satisfied with the hotel. The only negative thing is the limited overnight parking. Even if you paid the $25 fee, there's no guarantee a space will be available if you leave and return later in the evening.

Positives: Location and free wine hour.

Negatives: The lighting in the bathroom is too dim.

The Miyako Hotel is a little different with the deep Japanese bath, and an Asian-flavored room decor. It is restful and quiet, and the staff is friendly and helpful. There are many restaurants in walking distance, and it is even attached to a small mall.

Positives: I take my 89 year old mother along, and this hotel has an indoor connection with the mall and places to get her snacks at all times.

Negatives: It was very nice, and staff was helpful and friendly. The area has been bought out by another company, and I fear it will change the atmosphere there.
