The hotel was very comfortable. The walls were a bit thin, but it was very classic. We appreciated the staff and location.

Positives: The concierge and front desk went above and beyond.

Negatives: The air conditioning was on in the pool area which made it a bit cold.

At the rate booked this hotel was an amazing deal. It is a great location and has some of the most beautiful public places of any hotel in San Francisco. I asked for and received a quiet inside room thus avoiding the busy sounds of Market Street. Sacrificing a view for a quiet night's sleep is fine by me.

Positives: The staff was tremendously accommodating. Wherever you walk in this hotel you feel transported back to a time of elegance and graciousness.

Negatives: Other hotels in this chain provide much more comfortable beds.

I usually don't like old hotels, but the Palace was a nice choice. I wish the bedding was different, I missed a Westin style bed. The room was silent and I was able to sleep well.

Positives: Nice! Great location!

Negatives: Neat, comfortable, great location!

The hotel is beautiful, classic, and has friendly staff who made efforts to accommodate all our requests. We were very pleased! It is located right next to Muni/Bart station, within walking distance to Union Square. The downside is the expensive parking and in-room internet access (though there appeared to be free internet access in the lobby). Overall, a great hotel!

Positives: Comfy and roomy.

Negatives: Expensive parking.

Overall great location, great price, nice staff, beautiful historical building.

Positives: Great location.

Negatives: Rooms a little of fashion for my taste.

We had a nice time. We were reminded the night before of the amazing Sunday brunch buffet. While the content and quality were impressive, the price was too. Two meals were as much as the room. I was pointed to cheaper parking on the other side of the block at the Hearst garage. Great overall.

Positives: Beds were great. Friendly service. Romantic rooms.

Negatives: Small bathrooms and showers. Parking is pricey in house.

The palace hotel looks impressive. When we entered, there was a large arrangement of roses, and a huge dining hall that really did look like a palace. The pool/hot tub/sauna/fitness center was also nice.

Positives: The dining hall was beautiful, and the location was great.

Negatives: Valet parking cost $48, nearest garage $20.

Great location. Obviously an older hotel, but well maintained. The pool was "heated" but felt too cold.

Positives: Location!

Negatives: Only $40 buffet is served on Sun mornings - not good if you're with kids!

This is an older sf hotel so rooms are smaller but a touch of class prevails staff is quick to respond all in all a good stay.

Positives: Superb ambiance in public areas floral arrangement quality, but not extreme.

Negatives: Laptop and hang out in one public comfortable area did not appear to be likely hotel guests but more starbucks or less.

The Palace Hotel in San Francisco is in a great lively location yet inside is elegant and relieving. The dining area and pool are sights I will hold in my mind forever.

Positives: Staff bent over backwards to make us feel totally taken care of.

Negatives: Parking is 48.00/night. I might as well sleep in my car!

Great downtown location central to city and great for walking around. However it is very old and even though quaint, the age shows in things such as strange noises (creaks) in the walls, the thin walls, and awful water pressure in shower. Not a luxury hotel, but upscale. Toiletries provided were of low quality. Rooms have musty old smell due to age.

Positives: The location was great, convenient to shopping, and transportation.

Negatives: Really old, could hear pipes in walls. The equipment i.e. elevators, old and noisy.

The palace is an old hotel in San Francisco. It has charm, but it's old, the room felt old and a little dark. I don't think I would stay there again.

Positives: It's old and has some charm.

Negatives: It's old.

The grandeur of the Palace Hotel is no longer experienced in newer modern hotels. The palace is an architectural gem, and I would recommend that traveler's stop and experience its beauty whether they stay or not! But to experience all the hotel has to offer, please, please, stay a few nights! The staff is friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean, comfortable, and the restaurants are lovely! Highly recommended!

Positives: The architectural detail was incredible!

Negatives: Restaurants were a little pricey.

This is a beautiful hotel with a staff that ranks in the five star category. I am a fussy traveler so when I give the staff five stars they earned it. The building is gorgeous, valet parking, pool and spa clean, great location to the arts and a short distance to Piers, room was spotless and reminded me of The Plaza in New York. Another huge perk is the windows open. I must comment on the lack of coffee maker in-room, but there is always room service or coffee setup in lobby. In-room coffee maker is the only thing I would change about this fabulous, spotless and friendly hotel.

Positives: The staff compares to that of a five star expectation. A very pleasant stay thanks to many lovely people from valet to management.

Negatives: No in-room coffee maker. There is a coffee setup in the lobby or room service.
