Cozy, romantic European style hotel. Delicious breakfast, quiet room. Staff needs to be updated on directions if freeways are under construction. Staff bent over backwards to make me feel at home.
Positives: Great location. Friendly, helpful and informative staff. Great breakfast. Cozy room.
Negatives: Given incorrect directions to hotel from freeway. Baseboard panel in room fell off.

There was a dirty pair of someone's stockings on the floor - the sink leaked and had duct tape on the hole not a great fix - it ruined my shoes while I was washing my hands. The staff didn't ever pick up the phone. It was not at all what I expected.
Positives: I only had to stay one night.
Negatives: It was dirty, small, and staff was not friendly.

Once I got over how small the room was. I could see the real beauty of historic hotel. The elevator was neat only have seen ones like it on TV.

This hotel has the charm of an intimate bed and breakfast inn right in the heart of San Francisco. It is ideal for a couple wanting to spend time away from the frenzy of hotel chains.
Positives: The ambience reminds you of an intimate country bed and breakfast setting.
Negatives: Our room was adjacent to the noisy elevator and you can hear loud footsteps from the room above.

I was a little reticent about staying in this hotel at first, given this was my first trip to San Francisco and first stay in a "boutique hotel". I was very pleasantly surprised to find an excellent hotel at an exceptional price, pleasant and helpful hotel staff, great "continental" (gourmet!) breakfasts, and comfortable room. All in all, it was a great place to stay and I would definitely stay here again as well as recommend it to friends and relatives. On a side note, I would request a larger room at the back of the hotel if not traveling solo. The expected noise toward the entrance would probably keep anyone else up at night (elevator, doors, and the like).
Positives: Staff, food, cleanliness, price, water pressure.
Negatives: Size of room (but really fine), no pool, no bathtub, TV significantly dated, room noise (I was next to the entrance).

Despite the dirt and filth on the windows inside and out, we had a great time. This place could be a knock-out smaller hotel. They claim Con de Nasty ranks them in the top 75. No way. Really a large B and B. We'd stay there again. It just needs a good cleaning.
