San Diego Marriott Gaslamp Quarter

The hotel was what I would call a standard Marriott experience. What does separate it from other Marriott hotels was the rooftop bar overlooking Petco Park and the general location within the Gaslamp quarter. I wouldn't mind staying here again, consider the great price we got, but I would probably look at some other hotels in the area first.

Positives: The locations was easily the best thing about this hotel. Way convenient and in walking distance to everything I needed.

Negatives: No swimming pool. It was a bit of a surprise.

The hotel itself was quite nice, the staff needs more training in customer service. As long as you don't have any questions, this is an excellent pick.

Positives: The view and location were fabulous.

Negatives: The staff was unhelpful, could not find a valet, or bellman. The front desk desk was ill trained and a didn't want to answer questions.

The location is great and the rooms are very nice. However, to earn a four star rating, I would expect for the hotel to have a pool or be right on a beach. I would also expect that the staff would be extra helpful, which was not the case.

San Diego Marriott is a very clean hotel. Although the space is limited due to its location near downtown, the hotel itself is comfortable.

Over all this is a nice hotel. I do not think its family friendly. However, not much for kids to do at the hotel or nearby. The staff is really friendly & all about customer service. The room had no fridge or microwave, so when we dined locally & had left over yummy food, we had to toss it out.

Positives: It is a beautiful hotel and the rooms were very nice and clean.

Negatives: Aside from the mandatory valet parking, it did not have a fridge or microwave. I had to toss our leftovers.

The hotel was fine, although there was no pool. Also, during the 5.7 earthquake, the staff did not answer the phone and that is not professional, my son and I ran down 18 flights of stairs with another guest.

Positives: Starbucks coffee.

Negatives: No pool and 32.00 valet parking fee that I did not know about when booking.

This hotel is in the Gaslamp quarter. It is very nice and located in a great area (right by Petco park) and it was clean, and the staff was friendly. My room was big and I loved the layout.

Positives: I liked the room and the view a lot.

Perfect if you want to be located in the heart of the Gaslamp, and crawling distance from Petco Park. I can't wait for the next trip@!

As a family of 4 going away for a few days in the summer we booked what we thought was a 4 star. We were very disappointed to find that the hotel we were given did not have a pool. What is a summer get a way with two children without a hotel pool. This put a damper on our plans and we ended up coming home early in the morning instead of spending the whole extra day as we planned.

Positives: The location of the Marriott was beneficial.

Negatives: We were VERY surprised and upset to find out there was NO pool.

Knowledgeable, friendly staff. Lots to see and do within walking distance. Expected to have a pool but didn't. Only outdoor lounging area was a terrace bar that was used for that exclusively after 5:00 pm. Not a great hotel for children and teens.

I travel a lot and stay in a lot of hotels. This hotel is in a great spot, the facility is in great shape, my room was very nice and clean, the staff did everything to make me feel wanted. I will stay here on all my trips to San Diego!

Great hotel, great location. Heart of the Gaslamp district, good restaurants/bars. Staff was very helpful. Overall a wonderful experience.

The young staff was friendly, once they were tipped, but not a minute before that. From the minute we arrived, we felt unwelcome. The room was tiny, and the nice view was of an empty parking lot and the backside of a ballpark. The front desk had no knowledge of local eateries or restaurants. They suggested their own, but when we got to the lobby it was closed. The lack of a shuttle to the airport was a big problem, as taxis were hard to come by due to the big convention in town. The good: nice toiletries, nice beds. The bad: service and friendliness of staff. The ugly: no shuttle to airport.
