I loved the stylish contemporary decor, the comfortable bed, and the contemporary sinks. The hotel was conveniently located, with multiple restaurants in walking distance in the Gaslamp Quarter. I would gladly stay again. The fitness center was mediocre at best, but we bought a week membership to 24 hour fitness. My husband I walked everywhere, and loved the location. The staff was very friendly, and went above and beyond. No one was ever rude. In fact, quite the opposite. They had a genuine interest in our vacation time being amazing. The hotel gave us a complimentary bottle of champagne & strawberries when they found out we were on our honeymoon. The heated pool was also amazing--we sat in it out on the roof top, soaking in the sun. I loved this hotel and will definitely stay again. Simply by signing up for the Kimpton loyalty program, we had Internet access in our hotel room and daily newspapers. I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Definitely great time.

Positives: The staff knew we were on our honeymoon & gave us a courtesy bottle of champagne & strawberries. Very friendly.

Negatives: I loved everything about it and would gladly stay again!

The valet is severely understaffed for the vehicle volume and size of the driveway. Same goes for the front desk, and I had to wait in line for 10 minutes because only one person was working, just to get change for the valet.

Positives: Location is excellent.

Negatives: Valet and front desk was very understaffed for the volume.

Negatives: nothing

My wife and I enjoyed the room, pleasantly furnished in a chic style. The staff was friendly and helpful. However, it felt a little too uppity for our simpler, more laid back, taste. We felt it fit better with the young single professional scene, for whom I have no doubt the hotel would be satisfactory.

Positives: Very nice room, friendly staff and

Negatives: Too formal feeling, felt catered to the young uppity crowd.

Our stay was memorable, we loved the decor of the room, great location,<BR/>they have a complimentary wine bar and a complimentary coffee bar in the morning. We can't wait to go back.

Positives: Wine bar &amp; coffee bar, beautiful bathroom.

Negatives: Can't think of anything.

I think you will enjoy your stay here---if you don't have your kids. Definitely a great place if doing business downtown or want a place close to a lot of restaurants/bars. Over all a great stay---just a tad rough because we had a 2 &amp; 4 year old. Also expect to pay 35$ a night for valet parking. Or you will have to move your car and find a spot which was a bit of a hassle.

Positives: The location was great, staff was friendly, felt upscale.

Negatives: There was no continental breakfast &amp; no option for 2nd room for kids.

Nice wine hour. Beautiful lobby and the room we were in was lovely. A bit small, but a nice view.

Positives: Beautiful lobby and friendly staff. Great location. Rooms a bit small but very pretty and clean.

Negatives: Parking fees are expensive, around $ 40 per night. Cheaper across the street.

Overall, good downtown location, close to the Gaslamp district as well as the convention center. Facilities such as pool, restaurant, etc on site - but plenty of restaurants in walking distance. Clean hotel for the most part.

Positives: Location and friendly staff.

Negatives: Thin walls with noise from other rooms, hallways and even pool area.

Very good stay - friendly staff, ideal location, and safe. However, parking is too expensive; i.e., $35.00 per day is too much.

Positives: Friendly staff, ideal location, and safe.

Negatives: Parking is way too expensive.

We loved our experience at the Solamar. We had a corner room that was pretty noisy from the surrounding night clubs on the block but it wasn't bad and all ended by 2am, expect this if you stay in the Gaslamp area on the weekend. Free coffee in the morning and free wine in the evening is a nice touch.

Positives: The staff was very friendly, rooms and facilities were very clean!

Negatives: The only parking option is $35 per night. Surrounding lots wont let you park overnight, no street parking either.

Really nice hotel with an excellent restaurant. Beds were a little too soft for a good night's sleep and the biggest disappointment was the room's jet spa not working. Staff was very friendly. Parking fees were exorbitant.

Positives: Great location.

Negatives: Jet tub was broken.

Nice place and staff. Very little &quot;Oh wow&quot; factor. Still basically a expensive bed to sleep in.

Positives: Great location, nice staff, and attractive.

Negatives: $35 per night parking.

Nice property bit the rooms need a sink that doesn't splash onto the guest, the room needs dresser space to store clothes or at a minimum a luggage rack. The lighting also needs to be improved. With all this said, I still liked the hotel.

Positives: The price, swimming pool area &amp; location.

Negatives: The sink got you wet every time you used it. Also, no dresser.

Positives: Stylish lobby and lounge. Complimentary wine and coffee. Jose at front desk provided excellent service.
