Attractive surroundings and convenient location.

We liked this hotel alot. It has a cute design with a courtyard and seems the older locals hang out there a lot at the little café. Safe area, walking distance to main Chinatown attractions. I didn't like the $10.00/day parking as other hotels offer free parking.
Positives: The atmosphere and the staff were very very nice. The location is great for Chinatown, koreatown and Little Tokyo.
Negatives: No pool, but we knew that going into it. Parking is $10.00/day.

I likes how nice the people were, and the overall good value of the room. However the bathroom could have been cleaner, and the beds smelled a little funny. Also, the maid knocked on our door in the morning a couple hours before our checkout and didn't even give us time to say anything before opening the door. I did not like that. Use the deadbolt.
Positives: Spacious room, little shops near entrance with friendly employees.
Negatives: Bathroom and beds could have been cleaner.

The hotel really needs to work on getting the room cleaner. It smelled so bad like mold. The staff was not helpful what so ever. It was freezing at night and we asked for an extra blanket and they said they didn't have any. We also realized that we forgot toothpaste and asked the office if they had some and they told me to ask the cleaning crew. The cleaning told me that the office had some. It was very frustrating. It would have been nicer if the office manager made any effort at all to try and locate a blanket or toothpaste.
Positives: I did not like anything about that hotel.
Negatives: The room smelled, was cold, heater did not work, staff was not helpful and it was in a bad area.

It was convenient and affordable. The Chinese food was great. The Asian-American staff was nice.
Positives: Located in China Town, the restaurant fair is great for Chinese food.
Negatives: It was a 2 star. There was nothing missing that I'd expect from a 2 star.

I loved everything about this hotel. Thought it may be rough in China town but it wasn't. It was quiet. Excellent location for me. I intend to stay there again in another 2 weeks. Breakfast was great.
Positives: Loved the location, breakfast, room, everything.
Negatives: Cleaner kept Knocking on door wanting to know when I was leaving.

The front desk staff was somewhat helpful, but the stay could have been much more enjoyable if they stepped it up some. Parking was horrible, and the rooms could have smelled better.
Positives: It was close to restaurants and freeways.
Negatives: The parking lot staff was rude, not everything worked.

Positives: The location is good and the price is reasonable.
Negatives: I didn't know the hotel has airport shuttle bus until I came to the hotel.

I have stayed at the Dragon Gate several times and I will again in the future because my own personal convenience. The staff has an equal share of unfriendly and rude, and helpful and kind attendants. And I feel confident with the safety of my vehicle in the parking garage. The parking garage attendants are very pleasant and appear alert. Overall my several experiences with the hotel have been positive and pleasing.
Positives: I feel extremely comfortable with the parking garage attendants and the safety of my vehicle.
Negatives: Some of the hotel staff are unfriendly.

The lobby is a tiny room on the first floor of a business plaza, the hotel is the entire second floor of the plaza. This made checking in a little uncomfortable. General location is great, the specific location is not, very small driveway with only a couple of spots for guest registration then you have to back out into busy traffic to get out. If you want to park, it is $8 in a public parking garage, since the hotel does not have its own parking.
Positives: It was good.
Negatives: No free parking!

Unique experience that I would not want to repeat. Bathroom was so small! I could not get out of the bathtub without falling into toilet. People were allowed to smoke just outside our room and we had to walk through smoke to get to elevator. It could be smelled inside the room.

Positives: Very close to the area I needed to be.
Negatives: Felt uncomfortabe and unsafe at night.

Their customer service was beyond rude! No internet (that just took the word business out of business trip) I called down to ask them to help me with the details of the internet (maybe I was doing something wrong) I rudely got shut down with a 'I don't know anything you call number on card in room' Okay? That was weird. Continued to call tech support, tech support says the router at the hotel needs to be reset, he'll just call them to do that and the internet should be up and running in about 5 minutes. So I decide to take a shower and 45 minutes later I tried the internet nope! Still doesn't work. Call tech support again and tech support checks and says oh that's odd they didn't reset their router yet (like they told them they would). Okay since the hotel wasn't helping or trying he was going to connect me manually that was complicated but it was done. Of course 10 minutes later I lost it. So as I called back tech support I realized I can sort of pick up the neighbors wireless if I stand half way in the bathroom and the sink area. Tech support tells me that I won't be able to get internet due to too many people on just one line usually they have 4 but 3 of them are down and the hotel doesn't know how to reset their router.
Positives: Nothing.
Negatives: Staff & internet.

Chinatown in the center of Los angels, near Hollywood. You can take the 5 highway to Disney land and the 101 to Hollywood.
Positives: The location china town, good food.
Negatives: The staff was too straight headed. In the reception in the small restaurant, they cant do more than the normal task of the hotel, the owner was nice.

It seemed like a seedy place. It was clean but dark. The bed was hard, the sheets were itchy.
Positives: It was near a metro.
Negatives: I had to pay for parking twice. It was hard to find.

Would recommend staying there again - only - if I was able to stay in the same room. Would only stay again for a night.
Positives: Easy access from freeway to hotel. Room was clean.
Negatives: Hotel staff did not understand English language all that well. Hard to understand them when asked a question.

Rooms were amazingly spacious and neat. Breakfast was included in the room price. I would like to stay there again when I am in L.A.
Positives: Spacious, neat and fully equipped rooms.
Negatives: Extra price for parking, lack of good eating places close to the hotel.

Negatives: The cafe where the continental breakfast was served was disgustingly dirty.

Staff was friendly and hotel was clean. Everything was within walking distance and although hotel parking was an extra charge. There was plenty of street parking in the evenings.

It felt like apartment living, which was fine for the one night we were there. There was nothing for the young ones to do (they traveled in our group), and no channel on TV for the kids either. With the parking charge, I would have actually spent less at the Hampton Inn.
Positives: The desk person was friendly.
Negatives: The additional parking charge.

This is a hotel that is located in the heart of China Town. For anyone visiting for the cultural experience, this would be an excellent choice. The rooms were large and spacious.
Positives: This hotel rooms were spacious.
Negatives: There were bugs flying in the rooms as we entered. The bathrooms were too small and cramped.

Everything else was wonderful I love Chinatown.
Positives: The staff.
Negatives: The elevator broke. I was pregnant and this was inconvenient not handicap accessible.

Centrally located near Union Station, next to oldest Hispanic market and inside Chinatown, this hotel exceeded our expectations. Nice complementary breakfast in adjoining coffee shop, helpful staff, good tour of LA that left from the hotel, and a nicely furnished huge room with a fridge. Very quiet no traffic noise.
Positives: Near the train station, clever design with open courtyard huge room.
Negatives: Weird parking garage.

The hotel said "cable plus HBO" which implied actually cable. When in fact it was the basic 11 channels, most of which were fuzzy. In fact, it was just Ethernet and wireless was out in the lobby only. The bathtub was not clean enough to take a bath but everything else was spotless. The room was spacious and quiet and I enjoyed the location. The continental breakfast was in a cafe down the way a bit and it was great. Waffles, not just your standard bagels and muffins. Plus, it was fun to watch all the old Asian men gambling away on lottery scratch tickets and hanging with their circle of old friends.
Positives: Spacious room, interesting location with convenience.
Negatives: No real cable.
