It is a place I would consider staying if I decide to move to LA until I find me a permanent place.
Positives: Location
Negatives: Front desk staff.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, the outside for a historic land mark is not well maintained at all. The lobby is the only thing that looks nice, no restaurant on site to eat and the parking garage has leaking pipes. The rooms need a lot of work from water damage, the furniture is chipped and worn and drapes look poorly hand made.

Positives: The lobby was nice.
Negatives: Rooms need work, water pressure plus to hot or just cold no in between, shower was too small and they have residents living at hotel.

They staff is pretty rude about checking in early. The place doesn't even look how it does on the website. There is no "celeb lounge" the restaurant is hardly open. The workout room doesn't work. The ice machines don't work. The location is the worst. Would not stay here again.
Positives: Quiet
Negatives: Everything

I would never stay here again because the staff was very unfriendly, the rooms and bathrooms were incredibly small (like the size of a cruise bedroom), and the AC and heater do not work so the only thing you can do is have the window open.
Positives: It was decently close to downtown LA if you want to go to Staples Center, but other than that it was not very convenient.
Negatives: Horrible staff there and really small rooms and bathrooms. The lounge is deceiving compared to the size of the rooms.

I was very disappointed and felt cheated. The only nice thing about the hotel was the lobby; it is very spacious, with high ceilings. But, the service and the rooms are really abysmal and atrocious. The workers are apathetic. The rooms vary tremendously in size and quality. You might get a clean, neat, and sparsely furnished/decorated room, or one that is very dirty, and shoddy looking. The bathrooms are very, very tiny; my closets at home are larger.
Positives: Nice lobby.
Negatives: Totally different than the ad image.

The hotel is "OK" there is not much around it so you must walk a few blocks to get to anything. the food in the hotel was not good, But he rooms were clean and the rates were reasonable.
Positives: Clean rooms and friendly staff.
Negatives: The resturant was terrible, Bad food and bad service,

The lobby was very nice and the staff, but the room had wet carpet, no screen in the window that opened fully on the 12th floor, very dangerous. The toilet had chipping paint and the rest of the bathroom was small and crusty. There were two twin beds for my husband and I and they were very uncomfortable and had no bed spread on them. The room was very small and had no microwave or refrigerator. Very dissapointing.
Positives: The staff were nice.
Negatives: Size of room, bed, bathroom.

Traveled to area for Michael Jackson memorial service at Staples. Staff took care of minor problems promptly and efficiently. The appearance of the property exceeded my expectations for the star rating it has. Hotel is within easy walking distance of Staples, and parking in their garage saved considerable expense. In the crush of media interest and excitement around the Jackson event, this was a quiet refuge. Will definitely book here for future trips to LA.
Positives: Staff was extremely helpful and responsive.
Negatives: Small bathroom in room.

The place looks much better on the inside than it does on the outside; high ceiling, marble floors and lots of wood in the lobby. The room was fairly small, just big enough to hold two queen-sized beds and an entertainment center. The hotel restaurant is a tourist trap, with a limited menu and high prices, and it took the kitchen staff a half hour to cook a hamburger, even with the seating area almost empty. The gift shop looks like someone's closet, with piles of items stacked haphazardly in the small room; clearly the owner has too much merchandise and not enough space to display it. And the in-room wireless Internet connection has a habit of dropping out without warning, something that's very frustrating if you're trying to get some work done. On the positive side, the staff was helpful and responsive, the lobby area has an old-world look and feel to it that was attractive, and you can get the best tacos you ever ate at a lunch truck that parks a block down the street every day. To sum up, the Mayfair is a place you visit only if it's closest to your destination. I expected more for the price that I paid.
Positives: Old-time aesthetics.
Negatives: Unreliatble Internet connection.

Nice one to stay for a day or so.
Positives: Internal appearance looks good.
Negatives: External building looks very normal.

Everything in room is small. 1/2 bathtub/shower is a safety hazard and almost slipped & fell not knowing the tub/shower sloped down.
Positives: Convenient to Staple Center.
Negatives: It is in the Latino neighborhood, trash was in streets, homeless people sleeping across street.
