Staff was excellent. Rooms didn't meet my expectations...for a "suite"...was kind of small and no balcony!
Positives: I liked that it was near restaurants.
Negatives: I didn't get an ocean view.

The staff were very helpful, patient with us when we kept calling for directions. the bell persons were extremely helpful, they checked on us to see if someone had helped us already.
Positives: The room was excellent for us, it accommodated us well.
Negatives: Room was a bit narrow (small), need vanity outside bathroom.

Overall a great place to stay, we had a great time.

Negatives: Cost of parking.

The hotel was nice and the desk staff could not have been nicer. The pool was nice, but small. The location was difficult to get to. The beach access is not close! You have to cross the street, walk down the street and then walk through a campground! The beach in that area is very rocky. We didn't go back there and drove to another beach. $22 for parking in a parking garage that is theirs and no one else could possibly get in was ridiculous! After the first night the cleaning crew must have decided to take their smoke break in our room! We could not get rid of the smell.
Positives: Staff was friendly.
Negatives: Beach access, parking fee, $2.50 for a drink out of the machine!

Very nice hotel with friendly staff and lots of amenities.
Positives: Lobby, location, exterior and hospitality.
Negatives: Nothing.

The hotel location overlooking the state beach and ocean was spectacular. But, if you get a room on the back side your in for a highway and train adventure. Best bet ask for the ocean view.
Positives: The staff treated us like full fare customers. We like it that way.
Negatives: Access to other restaurants in the area must be by car.

We were very pleased with the hotel and staff. The room had just been renovated. The bed was very comfortable.
Positives: The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfortable.
Negatives: The hotel was hard to drive into. We drove around twice trying to figure out how to get in.

Public areas very nice. Nice location. Room maintenance was poor. Reported over 6 inoperable or broken items to management.
Positives: Very clean.
Negatives: Poor room maintenance.

We arrived early (before check in time). They told me to call at 1pm to see if room could be ready. After lunch I called and before I could finish asking if my room was ready she already said no, no rooms ready check in time at 4. OK went for a ride and walked on the beach. After check in went to room, unless you have ocean view your most likely looking at the wall without a balcony. The service and people are pretty nice there, and my only complaint is that I had to walk through a camp ground to get to the beach. Not my exact idea of an upscale hotel. Overall not a bad place. Most likely wont be back for the price they expect.
Positives: Walking distance location to beach.
Negatives: Room had view of wall, asked for 2 queens got king.

Nice staff. Nice layout of rooms.
Positives: Roof top bar, nice views and good drinks.
Negatives: Not walking distance to restaurants etc--odd location.

The Doubletree at Dana Point is a very nice hotel with many fine amenities. It is conveniently located near Doheny beach which was great from a distance. The beach itself was very dirty - I saw bananas and other food items floating in the water. The hotel itself was nice, but it was unfortunate that we could not safely use the beach it was perched next to.
Positives: The suite made traveling with two children comfortable and enjoyable.
Negatives: The cost of parking was very high.

The room was extremely comfortable, and my mom and I both slept very well there. We felt like it was a treat and a mini vacation while at the Doubletree. The staff was all friendly and helpful and everything went smoothly. The location is between major roadways and the train tracks, but we weren't bothered by noise. Too bad Doheny Beach isn't kept cleaner. We drove to Aliso Beach and Capistrano Beach instead.
Positives: The room was cushy - well furnished and comfortable. The Wolfgang Puck coffee maker is awesome!
Negatives: $22 extra fee for parking.

Great location, staff was very friendly and we really enjoyed our stay there. It was the perfect little weekend get-a-way place. They have a great little roof top patio bar that over looks the ocean and is amazing to watch the sunset from. We truly enjoyed the experience.
Positives: Location, roof top patio, and I really loved the fact that each room was a suite!
Negatives: It did not have a balcony and we had a view of the freeway. It didn't matter though, just the only negative thing.

The hotel is nicely decorated and contemporary. The location is hard to get to but convenient to the beach. The staff was unhelpful and unreliable. The armoire closet is cramped and the ironing board falls out when the door is opened. The bathroom is attractive but too cramped.
Positives: Proximity to the beach.
Negatives: Staff and cramped bathroom and closet.

It was a nice hotel. I was awakened in the morning by the maintenance people power washing the windows to my room. The price to park is too much. No bell service offered. Customer service was poor. Food prices were high for the quality of food. The room size and set up was great and the bed was very fluffy and nice.
Positives: The location was good, it was a pretty hotel.
Negatives: Customer service was slow, parking is too expensive, I was awakened at 8am by someone power washing the windows to my room.

The hotel accommodations were fine and the staff was more than friendly.
Positives: Very homey atmosphere.
Negatives: The pool is situated in a public area just as you pull into the driveway.

This is a nice hotel but it is not worth the price of the parking. There is no other place to park so you are stuck paying $22. That is robbery. The rooms were nice spacious and clean and comfortable. The staff was very nice and helpful. They allowed for early check in.
Positives: The service was the best very friendly and attentive staff.
Negatives: The parking cost $22. This is outrageous and we didn't find out about it until we arrived.

This was a very nice hotel. The people were very friendly and accommodating. Very clean and spacious. We would stay there again.
Positives: It was very close to the beach and the Marina.
Negatives: We had to pay for parking. $22.00 a night.

Good quality all round. Some old marks on bed sheets but not serious. TV remote very poor condition and operation. Rooms a good size and pleasant.
Positives: Convenient for all amenities at Dana Point & friendly.
Negatives: Parking.

I loved the view and the room was clean. I was tremendously upset by the lack of responsibility taken by the staff regarding the theft of my daughter's cell phone stolen from the bedside table. There was no regard to believe me or effort to replace the cell phone except for a loss from that was filed a week ago and no one has contacted me as I was told. I sent an email to the hotel, and have had a complaint response but have not heard anything further including financial restitution. I know the phone was stolen because a call was placed on it after it was missing to one of my daughter's friend who accompanied her on the trip! so no I would not stay at this hotel ever again! Feel free to contact me.
Positives: The view of the ocean from the top floor lounge was spectacular.
Negatives: The poor attitude about the housekeeping staff stealing my daughter's cell phone, without regard for apologizing or replacing it.
