Teays is a community in Putnam County, West Virginia. It is named for the Teays Valley which was in turn named for Thomas Teays, a hunter and trapper who once spent a considerable amount of time in the vicinity. It is apparently the only place in the United States with this name. Until about 1884, the town's name was written "Seays". Local restaurants include El Rancho Grande, Captain D's, Taco Bell, and Shoney's.

Captain D's Seafood ( Dining / Seafood ). Located at 4149 Teays Valley Road, Scott Depot, 2 miles from the center of Teays. It's how we've done business for the past 40 years and frankly, we see no reason to change.
