The Nancy Shepherd House Inn - Bed and Breakfast, now a fully licensed historic hotel, is one of several early federal period inns that once lined the streets of downtown Winchester, Virginia. It is now open as a real living tavern museum, available for events and overnight guest accommodations. The Nancy Shepherd House is the only historic Winchester tavern/inn currently in operation as a B&B and hotel. It is right downtown in Winchester’s historic district, with quaint shops, gourmet coffee houses, pubs, and fine restaurants all within easy walking distance.

The Nancy Shepherd House Inn is certainly no ordinary "historic" inn or hotel. It is the real deal, a rare find anywhere, a true historic early Virginia tavern. It has been properly restored without undoing its "essence of old", and is filled only with authentic early American furniture, and with real artifacts found on-site during the restoration. If you are visiting the Shenandoah Valley for its Civil War battlefields and historic sites, vineyard and winery tours, or for one of our great local festivals, the Nancy Shepherd House is absolutely the most interesting of historic places to stay in the Valley.
