Amenities

The historic village of Washington is still the same 2 x 5 grid as surveyed by 17-year-old George Washington in 1749 and boasts to be "the first Washington of them all." The town proudly serves as the Rappahannock County Seat, the least developed, least populated and - we think - the most beautiful of all Virginia counties east of the Blue Ridge. If shopping is your desire, the town offers an array of fine gift shops, art galleries and workshops of some of the region's finest craftsmen including: r.h.ballard, Chris's Shop of Designs in Gold & Silver, Custom Jewelry by Edmund, The Shops at THE INN AT LITTLE WASHINGTON, Middle Street Gallery, Peter Kramer Furniture and the Packing Shed Gallery. The area offers a vast array of activities from hiking in Shenandoah National Park to canoeing and kayaking. Afterwards, enjoy the tours and tastings of nearby award-winning wineries such as Linden Vineyards, Rappahannock Cellars and Oasis Winery.
