I would stay here again IF the room curtains extended the full length of the windows. No question.
Positives: Clean, friendly, and convenient to find. Close to Norfolk Airport.
Negatives: Room curtains did not pull to full length of windows, leaving light to shine in in the morning and less privacy than normal.

The hotel was very easy to find for out of town travelers. We had an excellent 4 night stay with our 12 year old daughter. Only takes about 20 minutes to get down to the beach from this location.
Positives: Good location, clean, excellent value.
Negatives: Seemed a little understaffed.

We needed a hotel for the night in a pinch and for the price this wasn't a bad place to stay. We really liked the bathroom (especially the shower). The room itself was nice and looked updated with a comfortable bed, flat screen TV, and a chair and ottoman. We were both surprised that for being renovated the closet and closet door looked so shabby - the closet door wasn't even painted uniformly but painted in a patch work of different shades. The hotel seemed to have a lot of business travelers and a few wedding parties, who left a lot of the public spaces like the pool area, hallways and parking lots trashed (quiet literally with trash). The front desk staff was friendly, but hit and miss on their service. We had to wait more than once while they talked amongst themselves and in a long check-out line when there was only one person at the desk to check people out, settle accounts and answer phones. Still, it was convenient to the highway and VaBeach Pembroke area, as well as Norfolk..
Positives: The bathroom was very nice, especially the shower. Bed was comfortable, so was the arm chair.
Negatives: Looks like this hotel gets hard use, there was trash throughout the hotel and bad paint jobs.

Positives: The location was conventient to everything, and the help was very helpful and Friendly, and the food was good and inexpensive.
Negatives: Really nothing, although the doors were very heavy for me.

The hotel was very beautiful and nice, the associate always said "hi" when you walked by them. The most thing
I liked was the whole set up with the colors and decor of the hotel from furniture, floor and lights. My family had to take pictures in every area, were from providence Rhodie island.
Positives: The hotel was very nice and had alot of details loved the colors and furniture.
Negatives: The elevators was a slow, and the hot tub wasn't working.

When we arrived at the hotel, at 12:30 pm, we had our reservations. When we went to our rooms, my parents room had not been made up. Before we left, at 1:30pm to go visit family, we told the clerk, that the room needed made up. After visiting with family, we returned to the room at 8:15 pm, to find my parents room, still not made up. I was highly irritated, and went looking for the manager. After locating the manager, and describing my situation, he got my 80 year old Mom, and my 84 year old Dad, another room. We were tired from the trip down from Hagerstown Maryland, and tired from visiting with family, only to find a room that was totally unacceptable. This is my experience as briefly as I could tell it. Your hotel was suggested by my cousin; but knowing that there was a Hampton Inn right next door, I assure you, we would have stayed there, free coffee, free breakfast, and probably nicer rooms. That's not all; the morning we left, your interior decorators had pulled their vehicle up over the walkway, at the rear entrance and exit of the hotel, forcing my parents to walk through freshly mulched flower beds, where somebody could have tripped and fallen.
Positives: Not much, the manager, met my demands after I got irate.
Negatives: No free coffee, no continental breakfast, like the Hampton Inn.

The hotel was very beautiful and appeared to have just undergone extensive renovations. It was a huge hotel, and probably should have another set of elevators to accommodate the huge floors that go on forever. The walk was very long, so if you're handicapped, it's going to be a burden to have to get from point A to point B in the event that there aren't any other available rooms. I could not have asked for a better room. It was both beautiful and clean. The pool was very low lit and scary looking. It was cold and didn't seem to be heated even thought it was indoors. The hot tub had no water in it, and there was a giant hole in the ceiling with wind blowing through it. We stayed in there about 15 minutes, got scared and left. Other than the pool, I really enjoyed the whole experience and would love to go back again.
Positives: The rooms are beautiful and spacious. The hotel itself was very beautiful and high end looking.
Negatives: I didn't like the pool area. The indoor pool was not heated and there was a hole in the ceiling. It was low lit and spooky. My son and I left it.

Hotel was very nice. Decor was updated and the beds were very comfy. Wish the hotel had continental breakfast. There was renovations going on downstairs that didn't seem to affect business. Looks like they are trying to make the hotel better.
Positives: Gorgeous room, flat screen tv, comfy beds, nice bathroom.
Negatives: Did not have continental breakfast. Elevator was slow and one was broken.

I give this hotel two thumbs up! The staff was very helpful, the rooms are newly renovated with beautiful big screen tv's and the hotel is close to the beach and downtown norfolk. Next time I'm in town, I'll stay here again.
Positives: The newly renovated rooms are beautiful.
Negatives: A lot of kids running around the hallways.

I was very disappointed. The room had just been remodeled and was not checked for completeness. TV didn't work (and they couldn't get it to work). Bathroom sink leaked (not installed correctly.) Holes in the drywall. Fire sprinkled not trimmed out, and basically sticking through the drywall. When complete, this will be a 2.5 star hotel. It is currently a 2 star. In addition, halls are very noisy. Doors slam shut, you can hear others talking in the halls and the next room. Bathroom door didn't close, due to the fact it was out of trim.
Positives: Staff was very nice and accommodating.
Negatives: It is in the midst of a very incomplete remodel.

I think I said everything I needed to say.
Positives: Easy to park the car.
Negatives: We heard insects inside the room and it was dirty.

The initial appearance is overall good. My bathroom had large areas of peeling wallpaper and we asked for extra blanket and got a sheet instead. The restaurant was good with free meals for the kids registered at the hotel. The pool had way too much chlorine, almost made people sick.
Positives: Location, restaurant.
Negatives: Room was shabby, peeling wallpaper.

Immediately over the Norfolk line from Virginia Beach, this hotel has a wonderful expansive lobby and a nice outdoor pool area with numerous pool-view and pool-side rooms. We enjoyed the stay and the friendly staff. One downside is that the last renovation of the rooms was obviously a few years ago, and there was a bit of an odor in our unit (probably from the AC).
Positives: Excellent poolside and pool view rooms.
Negatives: Older rooms, somewhat musty odor in our room.

This hotel was a short 10 minute drive the oceanfront at Virginia Beach, and very close to the highway. The pools were open late (till 11pm) and were quite nice. The rooms however were quite dirty. The first room had a very bad odor, stains on the walls and paint peeling off the ceiling. We were told the room had a pool view however you couldn't see anything but a big tree. We were able to change rooms, which helped, but the second room wasn't too much better. The smell in the room was hard to get over. I had to go and buy an air freshener spray. The overall cleanliness of the room was much better then the first, but a few hours into our stay we noticed that the air conditioner was leaking somehow and half of the carpet in the room got very wet and stayed that way for the duration of our stay. I would not recommend this hotel, if you plan on spending a lot of time in the room.
Positives: The pool area of the hotel was very nice and it was only a 10 minute drive to the beach.
Negatives: The cleanliness and quality of the room was fairly poor.
Reviewer: Not provided on Mon 25 Aug 2008 rated 4 out of 10.
My first impression of the hotel was good, although I was a little concerned about the state of the carpets - they were dirty and worn. The room was right in front of the pool, which I liked, although it got a bit noisy at night when I was trying to sleep. I was very disappointed with the hotel room itself. The toilet ran constantly and the seat shifted but despite a conversation with front desk staff, nothing was done to fix it. The tub was stained and chipped. Garbage was left in the room after the cleaning crew came through, and they really didn't clean much except to make the beds and replace the towels (which I thought weren't supposed to be replaced as part of their environmental program). The bathroom and general room areas were left in disrepair. I wouldn't stay at this, or any other Holiday Inn, again.
Positives: The hotel's environmentally friendly program is good on paper.
Negatives: Just about everything else.

The hotel needs to be updated. I would guess that this was a 4 star hotel in the 80's, but not today. If you blur your eyes you might convince yourself that this is a 4 star hotel. I was surprised that this was a Holiday Inn.
Positives: The pool.
Negatives: The mold under the AC unit. The room was musty.

Horrible.
Positives: Poor customer service at front desk, found hair in food in restaurant.
Negatives: Terrible staff attitude.
