I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a nice older hotel with a lot of charm. It is located within walking distance of several restraunts. Their onsite Colonial Cafe had the best breakfast, we mistakenly waited until the last day to try it.
Positives: Close to everything and beautiful grounds.
Negatives: The room seemed stuffy even with the fan running

I'm a person who tolerates, rather than enjoys "quaint" accommodation. This place is quaint, but unfortunately shabby, as well. The bathroom looked like something out of a bad nursing home complete with mildew, handrails, and a whit plastic medical supply surplus stool.
Positives: Location was easy to find and well situated.
Negatives: Shabby decor, mildewed bathroom, noisy heater, grumpy staff.

Has a complex with pool, exercise room with TV, attendant, spa, sauna, game room with pool table ping pong, community room with library full kitchen, big screen tv... comfortable and lots of extras - free snowshoes and trails to scenic view.
Positives: Tons of entertainment.
Negatives: Needed garbage bag.

Overall, I would definitely stay here again but be warned. This is not a Resort as stated in the hotel name. I would actually say it is a Motel-Resort because it has motel-like rooms but resort like facilities otherwise. The staff was really nice and helpful and the location was perfect.
Positives: Friendly staff and nice facilities. Really nice and comfortable bed.
Negatives: Small room and small bathroom motel-like.

Very nice facility. Beautiful, spacious grounds. Nice little restaurant for breakfast. Over 2 mile of wooded, mountain hiking trails. Clean room, comfortable bed. We would go back again.
Positives: The hiking trails were great - but pay attention to the map - easy to get lost.
Negatives: There was nothing we didn't like. It was a peaceful, natural setting. Very nice.

The Golden Eagle Resort is an excellent value. The kids loved the 3 heated pools. We loved the complimentary Green Mountain coffee and cookies. The room was motel - like but very spacious and clean. We were able to fit a family of five in the basic room. We had a great stay and intend to return soon.
Positives: The Golden Eagle Resort is a great value and fine for a family vacation. The kids loved the pools. We loved the complimentary coffee and cookies.
Negatives: We liked everything.

Green, child friendly setting with playground, indoor and outdoor pool. Cozy and perfect breakfast and breakfast location and for hotel guests no-hassle payment: name and room number.
Positives: Green, quiet setting with good family facilities.
Negatives: Paying an extra $10, per night for using a crib.

Very friendly staff, located in a mountain resort area. Rooms are very spacious, but more motel-like than hotel (drive up and park outside the door).
Positives: Lots to do with family.
Negatives: Motel-like.

Positives: Great pools and grounds.
Negatives: Rooms comfortable but like a 50's motel.

About 3 miles from Stowe mountain, refrigerator & coffee maker in room, nice size room with towel heaters, lobby had complimentary coffee and wine & cheese on Monday, right next to movies, strip mall.
Positives: Good size room and amenities.
Negatives: Close proximity to skiing.

The hotel was great, the service was great and our overall satisfaction with the room was great. No complains, regarding the acommodations. I would definitely stay there again. The restaurant food was very good, just the cottage fries were a big disappointment (way overdone and reheated) and frankly unexpected, considering how pleasing the experience was otherwise.
Positives: The location. The setting. The room size, bed comfort and the bathroom.
Negatives: At the restaurant, the cottage fried potatos were way overdone and overheated.

We loved the Stowe area. This hotel felt more like a motel, with the outside entrance into the room. The bathroom was small, but clean and updated.
Positives: We liked the view out of our patio door.
Negatives: Small bathroom, weak hair dryer and

This hotel was a resort and we found nothing that would classify it as such. The rooms were outdated and smelled of cheap disinfectant, the patio out back had broken down, filthy furniture, this place reminded me more of a run down motel than a resort. The buildings and rooms need attention and updating in a bad way. We did not stay the night and checked out after two hours of arriving there.
Positives: Free wine in lobby.
Negatives: Not resort quality.

Golden Eagle Resort, located in beautiful Stowe, Vt. Large, clean rooms. Enjoy on site swimming pool and shuffleboard. Cafe on site. Close to tourist attractions in Waterbury, Vt. (Ben & Jerry's Ice-cream, Cabot Cheese, etc.).
Positives: Beautiful area, clean rooms, size of room, walk out patio.
Negatives: Nothing.

This is essentially a Motor Inn (a nice motel). No complaints about it really, but to me a 3 star property is a Sheraton, a Doubletree, a Radisson, etc. Elevators and inside doors, a main lobby, you know. If you're a skier, it's certainly in a good location just outside of Stowe village, but it should still only be a 2 1/2 star (they have facilities like indoor pool, hot tub, gym, which I didn't even visit, but they were in a different building). Again, it's really all about everything being in separate ground level buildings.
Positives: Really excellent breakfast in restaurant.
Negatives: Motor Inn-like.

I think this would be a great place to come if you planned to visit. It was a nice place, the amenities outside of the rooms (pool, spa, hot tub) were great, but the rooms themselves had dated furniture, carpets, bedspreads, and atmosphere. Soap and shampoo are in push-button dispensers on the wall in the washroom, and we encountered a couple of large daddy-long-legs spiders crawling around after we brought our luggage inside. I would still recommend this place for people who know what they want from a hotel, especially for older people or families with children who can use all the amenities. It was overall a nice place, with very friendly and helpful staff. The location grew on us by the next day, but it wasn't what we had in mind when we were looking for a place to stay.
Positives: Good pools, spa facilities, and good location if you want to see Stowe. Would be good for families planning to visit the area for a few days.
Negatives: It's not what I expected from a 3-star. Dated look and motel-like atmosphere in the rooms.
