Very nice room, comfortable bed. Good location. Friendly and helpful staff. Shuttle service to airport. Just a few blocks removed from downtown business area but no problem with vehicle. I think the metro runs within a block or two. Good coffee shop but no real restaurant that I could see. My only gripe was the very poor internet service which was necessary for my work and poor TV reception. Generally my experience runs counter to the poor reviews I viewed before staying at location.
Positives: Room was updated and comfortable, staff seemed helpful and attended to requests. Good, clean workout facility.
Negatives: Advertises free internet service but the service was practically non-existent in my room. TV reception also poor.

The room had been updated at some point but wear and tear was evident. I believe I saw 4 or 5 tour bases parked in the lot so I assume they do a lot of organized tour business. The biggest downside was bedbugs. After one night,my uncovered legs and arms were covered in bites. Needless to say, I will not be bidding on 3 stars in SLC DT again as I will never chance staying at this property. This is only the second time I have stayed at a PL property of such low quality. Red Lion should be removed from the list as they spoil a great program for all of the great properties.
Positives: Location.
Negatives: Room was not well maintained. Dirty feeling.

Quite good hotel for visiting the city, but I would prefer another one next time. For Priceline bidding price it was absolutely o.k., but I would not like to pay the normal rate. Internet did not work good enough.
Positives: Good place for one night for visiting Salt Lake City - walking distance to Temple Square.
Negatives: Rooms seemed to be quite old - maybe the whole hotel should be renovated.

Good place to stay. There's a patio, and it would be very good for the view if it's winter. The room doesn't not insulate sound very well. We could hear clearly the voices from neighbors or the other guy talking on his patio.
Positives: Convenient location.
Negatives: I could hear the voices from neighbors.

Overall, my experience was great. I went with friends for St. Patrick's day partying. It was within walking to distance of a ton of the downtown bars.
Positives: Very clean, very convenient location. The staff was fantastic. Every room has a balcony that is great for smokers.
Negatives: The lighting in the room was terrible.

My wife and I booked this hotel for our anniversary. Although the price was right. Our room and the hotel, in general was not as well-maintained or clean as we expected. We stayed on the 10th floor. There is a privately owned night club on the 13th floor with an entrance on the ground floor. The noise from the night club kept us up until 3:00 am each night we were there. This is not a family friendly hotel, but might be the right choice if you're just looking to go out to have some fun with a group of friends.
Positives: I liked the price I received from Priceline.
Negatives: Hotel was dirty, sheets had holes in them, noise from nightclub attached to hotel kept us up all night.

The Red Lion downtown Salt Lake hotel is not a 3 star hotel. The staff lacked in their pleasant attitude or willingness to accommodate travelers. The hotel & rooms are in need of updating & replacing worn furnishings. Make sure that the bed you are going to sleep in does not have wear and tear from previous use without any laundered sheets.
Positives: The location of this hotel was somewhat convenient to our trip.
Negatives: Outdated room furnishings, uncleanliness, bedding & sheets had remains of other travelers, less than satisfactory staff.

I wouldn't choose this hotel again. I was on the side where people were entering the Sky Bar and also standing outside smoking.
Positives: Nice staff.
Negatives: The noise was horrible coming fromt the people going in and out of the Sky Bar entrance.
Reviewer: Not provided on Fri 28 Jan 2011 rated 5 out of 10.
The room I had on the 8th floor was directly above the Sky Bar located on ground level. This was a busy, noisy place with patrons congregating at the entrance and parking lot to 1 am. After that, city and loud muffler vehicles could be heard echoing off the downtown buildings. The room fan muffled the noise somewhat, but overall a poor night's sleep, which made the next day less productive. I would not want to stay here again.
Positives: Location
Negatives: Noise

The hotel is well situated close to many attractions in Salt Lake. The rooms were clean, attractive and very comfortable. The staff was very helpful in giving us two connecting rooms.
Positives: It was nice but not so posh that I felt like I needed to be concerned about my four children ruining anything.
Negatives: The children were disappointed that the swimming pool was outside so they could not go swimming in January.

The staff was very friendly and check-in was a breeze. The room was spacious, clean, and had a fantastic view of downtown Salt Lake City.
Positives: The beds were very comfortable.
Negatives: I couldn't take the bed home with me.

With many fixtures not working, extension cords strung up, and toilet smells the old place is a 2 star at best. The food service still thinks it is a 3 star and they get top dollar for mediocre food. The 20 bucks we paid for their breakfast buffet (advertised on their website at $4.95) is still sticking in my throat.
Positives: Plenty of security.
Negatives: Old, broken fixtures, no fan in bathroom, not as advertised, and smallest TV I have ever seen in a hotel.
Reviewer: Not provided on Sun 22 Aug 2010 rated 7 out of 10.
We were kept up most of the night with a bar underneath our window with sleazy women and horrible language being yelled throughout the night. The toilet wouldn't flush right and were only given 3 towels for a room for 4.
Positives: My kids enjoyed the pool.
Negatives: Hated being sandwiched between 3 bars. The toilet wouldn't flush right.

The hotel rooms smelled and felt unclean. I was really not feeling very good about going back. When we arrived at the room I was surprised. It was nice and comfortable and very enjoyable. Remodeled and refreshed.
Positives: It was comfortable, clean, and had been updated.
Negatives: Someone had been smoking either in the lobby or outside by the doors. It was lingering when I was checking in. Asked to make sure it was smoke free.

The staff was terrific! They gave us everything we asked for and the hotel was clean and in a good location in downtown Salt Lake City.

It was a very good deal. The help was the best.
Positives: The help was very friendly and helpful, the breakfast was very good for 4.99.
Negatives: The beds were not comfortable, they were in the process of changing all the beds they had got to ours yet they offered to move us to another room.

Its a nice hotel.
Positives: The bar up top.
Negatives: The maids wouldn't quit bugging.

We had an excellent stay. Very friendly and helpful staff. Clean and comfortable rooms. The only negative thing I have to say about this hotel is that the in-house night club gets very rowdy and there is constant commotion in the elevator after 11:00 p.m. The hotel does hire extra security to handle this.
Positives: Great shuttle service to downtown area attractions.
Negatives: The Sky Bar on the 14th floor attracts a lot of undesirable people.

Location was great, close to downtown. Difficult to find the driveway to get to parking. Someone needs to clean heating vent- years of dirt! And maybe vacuum the edges, not just the middle. The bed was made the second day, but sheets not changed, we knew because there was a tiny hole under one of the pillows. At least we got clean, dry towels the second day!
Positives: Location.
Negatives: Poor housekeeping, aging facility.

Negatives: No free breakfast buffet.

This hotel was great. The wireless was a little bogged down. The beds were great very very soft. The shower was OK but needed some T.L.C. there were areas of the tub that could use caulking. Also the lack of ventilation in the bathrooms. TV had to warm up before the picture was clear.
Positives: Comfy beds.
Negatives: Not winterized when needed.

Very clean hotel, excellent location for easy access to and from the freeways. Close to downtown and good selection of restaurants onsite and within walking distance. Would recommend and stay here again.
Positives: Loved that each room had a balcony.
Negatives: Wish the rooms all had refrigerators in them.

It is always clean and comfortable, which is the most important factor for me. They did not charge extra to park, use the weight room, and use the swimming pool.
Positives: Clean, friendly and comfortable.
Negatives: Small room.
