The St. Regis in Houston is a very nice hotel. It's listed as a 5 star hotel and while I'm not certain the rooms were 5 star quality, the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff certainly was. The rooms were a pretty good size, clean and comfortable.
Positives: The staff was extremely courteous and the rooms were spacious and quite Comfortable..
Negatives: The required valet parking fee was a bit steep at $29 per night..

Very nice but all the things you get for free at other hotels have to be paid for at this one.
Positives: Very nice and exclusive.
Negatives: $32 valet parking and no self-parking option.

I was in awe from the moment I entered and sad when it was time to check-out. I have never been to such a fine establishment where you were greeted everywhere you went. I would recommend this fine hotel to anyone. I was even upgraded to a hotel room. This was a very romantic get away for my husband and myself and we have agreed that this will not be our last stay at the St. Regis hotel. Discount or not we will be going back.
Positives: There were fresh flowers in every room and the staff treated everyone very respectfully.
Negatives: I was unaware of a 350.00 deposit as opposed to a standard 3 star hotel that charges 30.00.

The hotel is in a great location. We were not able to use any of their facilities because we were gone all day. The room was beautiful and clean. Lovely beds and draperies. Bathroom could have been a bit bigger, and water pressure was low. Lighting was bad, as in most hotels. All in all, I would stay again because it is a very well kept hotel, and the front desk was very nice.
Positives: The front desk was very accommodating when asked for two beds.
Negatives: We were never helped in any way by bellmen or outside staff. Opened our own doors with suitcases!

I was disappointed with some of the fees the hotel charged - $ 27 for mandatory valet parking. I also noticed when I checked out that they charged me a $ 4.99 fee for texting someone from my cell phone in the room. When I mentioned it to the front desk, she tartly said, "It's for use of the Wi-Fi internet service ma'am, its not free." I would have preferred a warning or posting of some kind in the room.

Positives: The fresh, fragrant bouquets of flowers in the lobby.
Negatives: They charge $ 4.99 if you text someone from your cell phone in your room.

The staff was very friendly and professional. From the time we walked through the door, my husband and I felt like we were in an upscale hotel based on the professionalism of the staff. The hotel lobby and lounge areas were kept perfectly clean and adorned with decorations (i.e. flower arrangements).
Positives: Added accents to the rooms such as crown moulding and leather lounge seats.
Negatives: Charging for everything including a toothbrush!
