Was pleased with the overall stay, but we were traveling with a 9 year old and a pool would have been a plus. Over 2 mile to beach.

Positives: Very clean.

Negatives: No pool.

Negatives: No pool at the hotel.

Very nice and upscale. Since it didn't have a pool we had access to a sister hotel's pool. Very nice.

Positives: Good location Downtown with lots of shopping and places to eat.

Negatives: They did not have a refrigerator in the room.

The beds are comfortable, the pool at the Galvez was murky. Ifeel that the supposed quality of the Galvez should have a cleaner pool. The bathroom appeared to be unswept.

Positives: It was historic.

Negatives: It smelled moldy.

Nice clean hotel with a great modern Victorian look, rooms were clean with high ceilings, and staff was friendly. This is the sister hotel of the Galvez. So you are able to use that hotels pool facilities. Young kid friendly, just don't leave them alone on upper floors because walkways overlook lobby. If you child is a mischievous climber this could prove fatal. We all enjoyed the Tremont House tremendously.

Positives: I enjoyed the Victorian architecture as well as the location of the hotel.

Negatives: Vale parking was pretty much required.

Very elegant, rooms were very nice.

Positives: Garbage pick-up outside my window at 0630 every morning.

Negatives: No parking lot or garage.

The rooms were beautiful, well kept and clean. For the star rating I would have preferred a pool, gym and spa on premises. Additionally, there was only paid parking on the street so we had to use the valet service at $15 extra plus tips a night.

Positives: The rooms were well appointed, clean, and comfortable.

Negatives: No pool, gym, spa or parking on premises. The internet was very slow.

The hotel offers a shuttle but it only runs on weekends.

Positives: Spacious room with high ceilings and walking distance to the Strand

Negatives: The hotel room did not have a desk and the hotel staff seemed were unhelpful.

Loved this hotel, it was beautiful and romantic. Very impressed with the room and customer service. We will definitely be returning!

Positives: Beautiful, loved the room and had great service.

Negatives: Valet was $15 extra and there was no where to park, so it was almost required.

This is a very nice older hotel that is very well maintained. It's very comfortable and attractive, and it is well situated for downtown activities as well as being convenient to the beach.

Positives: Great bar and very comfortable rooms; staff was cordial and helpful.

Negatives: Lighting would need to be brighter for business use; not on a business trip, but this room was not set up for business work.

it was beautiful, the only thing was there were not any chairs to sit and read in.

Positives: The high ceilings and antiques.

Negatives: There were no comfortable chairs to sit in and read.

The Tremont House is a nice hotel overall. We had one of the nicest rooms I have ever stayed in. The staff was not very helpful or friendly and the elevator was against the wall of our room. Every time it ran the wall vibrated and that made it pretty hard to sleep. When I asked the staff about it.

Positives: High ceilings, ceiling fans, and

Negatives: Next to the elevator. Elevator motors kept us up most of the night.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Tremont. In town for convention and to take clients out to dinner. Tremont was close to our chosen restaurant but not the convention center. No matter, Galveston isn't that big. The rooms were beautiful and well appointed, service was extremely good and quick. Everything was very clean. We had a lovely time.

Positives: Very beautiful furnishings and architecture. People were extremely helpful and friendly. Free WiFi.

Negatives: One restaurant, ordered at cashier counter, food was brought out. However, the food was Marvelous!

Only disappointment was there was no pool. The Wyndham had another Hotel (sister) which you could use. too much of inconvenience to travel across town to use pool.

Positives: Nice rooms and comfortable beds.

Negatives: The swimming pool was located at another sister Hotel.

Great location amidst historic areas of Galveston. You definitely need to take advantage of using the pool at their sister hotel, Hotel Galvez. We only had dessert at the Tremont Cafe but is was so delicious that we wish we would've eaten a meal there.

Positives: Access to the pool at the Hotel Galvez was wonderful!

Negatives: Having to valet park

The rooms were comfortable and clean, the ambiance was comfort and luxury. While the hotel did not have a pool, but we were able to use the sister facility on the beach. Valet parking was an extra $15.

Positives: The staff was friendly and accommodating.

Negatives: No parking and no pool onsite.

Very nice Historic Hotel in Galveston. The set up was one King Size and a separate room with sofa sleeper. In all two large rooms, which was great for kids. Only downside is parking, which was limited.

Positives: Two very large rooms with two flat screens. One full bathroom and one half bathroom.

Negatives: Parking is very limited. We had to valet.

Absolutely fantastic; highly recommend, will stay there again.

Positives: Friendly staff; huge rooms, ceiling fan, great overall experience.

Negatives: About 10 stairs to get from street to lobby.

Friendly staff. Comfortable beds. Good cafe. Within walking distance of the Strand historic district and everything there. Small bathrooms. No desk or table in room. Colorscheme made me feel like I was visiting a county jail. (get rid of the famous designer). All in all a historical fun experience.

Positives: Historical property.

Negatives: Black/white/grey color scheme was almost depressing.

Hotel & room appeared to be fine, but details in room poor. Had to use the ironing board as a desk and then sit on cushions to get to the correct height. The large drapes on the large windows were not set up to be closed couldn't get room dark.

Positives: Style.

Negatives: No desks, curtains didn't close easily.

Very nice stay!

Positives: Very friendly staff and extremely clean. Loved the towel warmer!

Negatives: No pool! However, you get a pass to the Galvez which has one.

Staff was nice. I was frustrated that they wanted to charge me $20/day for a mini fridge. I had to argue with the manager for 10 minutes to not incur this charge. Also, upon arrival, valet service and front desk said parking was onetime $15. On checkout day, they tried to charge me $45 ($15/day). So I had to argue and get that fixed too. I felt like I was being nickel and dimmed.

<BR/>

Positives: I left my cell phone charger and they said they'd mail it back. Hopefully it won't cost me anything!

Negatives: They said it'd be $20 a day for a fridge! I had to argue to not pay this!

Hotel was in good shape despite being flooded by Ike in 2008. Saw in one hotel review on another website that paranormal activity occurs in some areas of the hotel. No incidents noted, which was good since we had three children with us. Room was clean, staff was courteous and helpful.

Positives: Hotel was nice, clean, quiet, staff was friendly &amp; helpful.

Negatives: Location, lack of parking- all off street (city did not charge).

Reviewer: Not provided on Mon 15 Mar 2010 rated 10 out of 10.

The room was well appointed, very clean and the staff was quite helpful and friendly. I would not hesitate to recommend to others.

Positives: Located in the stand area, this elegant hotel proved to be so convenient.

Negatives: I was completely satisfied.

We loved our stay. The rooms were spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The hotel is a beautiful building, anyone heading to Galveston should stay at the Tremont Hotel for a very pleasant experience.

Positives: We loved the building itself. The location was great. The room size was wonderful and well decorated.

Negatives: More seating area would have been nice ( in the lobby).

The stay at this Hotel was great, the only thing that went wrong was the key reader on my room door stop working. However they did every thing they could to make this inconvenience comfortable. they gave us free breakfast, complimentary or valet parking, and let us stay longer. so i have no complaints, these kind of things just happen.

Positives: Very nice and large rooms.

Negatives: Nothing bad to say.

Reviewer: Not provided on Thu 07 Jan 2010 rated 4 out of 10.

You have to pay for the parking about $15. The staff was friendly. No swimming pool but there is an exercise room. The room I got it was big and it has two beds. Free wireless internet.

Positives: Comfortable bed and nice exercise room.

Negatives: You have to pay for the parking about $15.

The Tremont House exceeded our expectations. Located in the heart of the Strand, it was very convenient for shopping, dining, people-watching and a nice glass of wine while sitting outside beautiful, historic buildings. Everything you need is within walking or biking distance. The valet attendants were superb and an added bonus of the cafe serving Starbucks is nice as well. We will surely return.

Positives: Gorgeous exterior, lobby and room. We cannot wait to return.

Negatives: Since you asked, towell warmer in bathroom didn't work.

Reviewer: Not provided on Sat 24 Oct 2009 rated 10 out of 10.

The Tremont was a lovely hotel. The rooms were a nice size and the beds and bedding were absolutely wonderful, almost like sleeping in your own bed. The staff were helpful, kind and pleasant, willing to make your stay the best you have ever had and make you want to come again.

Positives: The staff were excellent and went out of their way to help me.

Negatives: If you did not valet there was only street parking and it would have been hard to find.

Reviewer: Not provided on Mon 12 Oct 2009 rated 9 out of 10.

Next time we can hopefully stay longer. Strand is coming along nicely. I saw it in January 09 when there was only 1 store open and vowed to continue to come to Galveston on vacation. I feel a sense of loyalty to the island. Loved the Tremont, but when we bring the kids (teens) we'll stay somewhere with the pool - Galvez being my first choice.

Positives: Romantic, valet service was excellent, piano/singer fantastic, most comfortable bed even though we prefer a king size - the queen size was terrific.

Negatives: Staff could have been friendlier, no one offered to carry luggage, bartenders were nice but distracted by guests watching football game.

Reviewer: Not provided on Mon 05 Oct 2009 rated 10 out of 10.

Excellent staff.

Positives: Location, kindness of staff, cleanliness, and beauty.

Negatives: There is nothing I did not like.
