The Galvan is a beautiful Galveston hotel, charming atmosphere.

Positives: The entrance way is grand and spacious, valet was excellent, and the pool water was perfect.

Negatives: The room was much smaller than I had anticipated but okay, the restaurant, while lovely, the breakfast was cold and the wait staff was inattentive.

This hotel has a nice history and the common areas, pool, and grounds are very nice. If you have an ocean view, it is great, if not the view is not very nice. It is nicely located and the staff is friendly and helpful. Our room was small and the bed was supposed to be a king and was a Queen. Parking is easy and free, unless you want valet service. Beach access is just across the street. Overall, pretty nice. I think a suite here would be very nice.

Positives: History. The common areas and grounds were very nice. Staff was very nice.

Negatives: Room was small, bed was not a king as indicated on reservation (queen).

Upgraded room for free when I called front desk with an ocean view. We loved it.

Positives: Upgraded room for free.

Negatives: First room was very small.

I booked a room with two queens on Priceline. I was told my reservation was a "city view" room with a king only. The employee was quick to offer a roll away bed, free of charge. The pool was seriously amazing. Everything is a short walk or drive. LOVE IT! Will be going back.

Positives: Pool and lobby gorgeous! Bed was comfy. Right across from beach.

Negatives: Room was small, but that's how it goes in most historical hotels. Still awesome!

Beautiful and beautifully situated in Galveston

Positives: Beautiful-and best physical location in Galveston.

Negatives: Ocean view not worth the extra price-windows did not open- no balcony.

The hotel is very historic, elegant, and clean! Ocean views are wonderful and the spa was spectacular. Totally loved our stay!

Positives: We loved the location because of the ocean view!

Negatives: Self Parking and getting your luggage to room is a bit inconvenient with several stairs.

I have stayed in this hotel before and the previous room was much smaller than the room I stayed in on this trip. The small room is clean and quaint, but the larger room is terrific. Either way, I will always try to stay here on my trips to Galveston.

Positives: Very comfortable and elegant.

Negatives: Some rooms are small.

I have stayed there several times over the past 8 years and this was the worst time that I had. The hotel was under repair, but they only worked on it during the week. The weekend was quiet for the guest. Had men walking in front of the windows, they did not do anything wrong though. The mattress was the hardest thing that I ever slept on too. Everything else was what I expected.

Positives: I have stayed there several times and liked the look of it and the location to everything.

Negatives: The hotel was under construction, and it had the worst mattress that I have ever slept on.

The hotel Galvez is a wonderful historic hotel with great views of the Gulf of Mexico. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Positives: I love that it is located right across from the beach.

Negatives: I do not like our room door being left unlocked and open while we were at the beach.

Even though the rooms were recently renovated the quality of the room was poor. The AC did not work properly, the rooms were small, and the amenities advertised for each room were nowhere to be seen.

Positives: Great Location.

Negatives: Small room. No amenities.

It was a nice place to stay. We were there for our honeymoon and enjoyed it very much. The only thing we didn't like was that there was no complimentary breakfast of any kind. Even a fruit bar and muffins would have been nice.

Positives: The king size bed.

Negatives: No complimentary breakfast.

A great hotel definitely a throw back to the classic 20's and 30's era.

Positives: The exterior of the hotel was gorgeous. Like a hotel from the 30's.

Negatives: The view from the room was definitely sub par.

The staff was very friendly and very accommodating. Lobby was pleasant atmosphere and piano playing in afternoon and evening. We were able to swim in the heated pool and jacuzzi on a cool fall day. The kids thought that was pretty cool. Room was spacious for a standard room. We would stay here again.

Positives: We really enjoyed the heated pool and jacuzzi.

Negatives: Parking across street was inconvenient with small children.

We did enjoy our stay because we spent our honeymoon there 50 years ago. This stay was a gift from our children for our anniversary. As a Senior person, the lighting was not good at all for reading purposes.

Positives: Sentimental reasons

Negatives: Parking

I loved this hotel and I am not really easy to please. It was beautiful, across from beach, beautiful view and a pretty room. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and will go back, no questions asked.

Positives: Beautiful hotel.

Negatives: Noise at 2:00a.m., drunken young people.

I would not recommend this hotel it was very small room. No ramp access from back parking lot. We had two infants in a stroller and it was hard to go in the back entrance. There was hair in our bed and in the sheets that the staff brought us. The floors were dirty and stained. It was very loud. You could hear all the doors shut, water being turned on, toilets flush, hallway noise.

Positives: The hotel staff was very polite and eager to help.

Negatives: The rooms are very small. There was hair all over our bed and the floors were dirty.

This hotel is grand! Beautiful location, friendly staff, amazing pool and views, and you can't get lost -- this hotel is called the Queen of the Gulf for a reason. No matter where you are, you can see her and find your way back. This hotel also has several gated parking lots --wonderful!

Positives: They upgraded our room when they ran out of roll away beds. EXCELLENT!

Negatives: The drinks were a bit pricey. The elevators are kind of slow.

This hotel was located right across from a beach stairwell. The location was great for what we wanted it for. We could go across the street for a while and swim then walk right back for a relaxing swim in the pool.

Positives: Location was perfect, great off street parking.

Negatives: I thought the rooms were a little small.

I felt it was very beautiful. They did not offer a free continental breakfast. Did like coffee and ice box in room.

Positives: Very beautiful, piano playing in lobby was seen through shower fan shaped washrag with toiletries.

Negatives: Noisy light in hallway and could hear others talking when in hallway.

We were very impressed with this hotel. Not only is the location unbeatable - directly across from the beach on Galveston's Seawall - the hotel itself is absolutely gorgeous. The grounds are well-maintained, the pool is beautiful (both daytime and nighttime), the lobby is amazing, the decor is great (we especially liked the bathrooms). We did not try the restaurant, but everything that we did see and experience exceeded our expectations. Other reviews commented that the rooms were small; I would agree somewhat. They aren't as big as some newer hotels, but this is a historic property and we thought the ocean view more than made up for it. We did not at all feel cramped or claustrophobic, with three in the room. Parking is free, gated, and some of the parking is covered (garage). The staff was friendly - the front doors were opened for us with a smile most of the times we walked through. All in all, I would highly recommend this property!

Positives: Location was great - directly across from beach. Beautiful architecture and grounds - amazing! Gated/covered parking was nice.

Negatives: No complaints.
