This is a fine old hotel. It is very ornate. The rooms are well designed and luxurious. The staff is eager to please and very efficient. The location is about 4 blocks from the music strip and easily walked. If you don't mind no swimming pool, no free internet, expensive parking (avg. $34 per night including tax & tips) then you'll love this place. If money was no option I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, I have not yet won the lottery.
Positives: This hotel is amazing architecturally. Very elegant and luxurious.
Negatives: Parking very expensive. $24 plus tax and tips. No free internet. No pool.

Would have given 5 stars if shower had been better. Great location and overall experience.
Positives: Beautiful hotel with very nice staff. Great location.
Negatives: Shower took literally 10 minutes to get hot water. Not good if you are on a time frame.

Great getaway.
Positives: Beautiful,
Negatives: Our room was on the ground floor next to the tracks. Trains ran all night but noise was less than expected.

The desk staff and the valet service staff were extremely polite and very helpful. The lobby area was attractively furnished and very comfortable. Our room was very nicely decorated and was quiet at night. We ate breakfast in the hotel restaurant, which was excellent. The walk to the bars and restaurants was an easy one. The opposite direction took you to Vanderbilt which was also an easy walk. Grand Ole Opry was only about 10 minutes away. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Positives: The lobby was very attractive. Stained glass in dining room and lobby was beautiful.
Negatives: Not as much hot water as I would have liked.

Negatives: Room was VERY small.

The fact that this hotel was once a train station with the care and detail that went into the remodeling to be a hotel is incredible.
Positives: Professional staff, clean and very beautiful decor. Comfortable .
Negatives: Nothing.

Amazing hotel. Beautiful architecture & decor! Great attention to detail as well. Very clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was a good size with very comfortable bedding, a very nice bathroom, and well decorated.
Positives: Beautiful decor and architecture. Historically significant.
Negatives: No view from our rooms.

The staff was very friendly, but when you walked in there were 5 people standing at the door. The room was very small, and food was way over priced! Chicken with fries was $20.00 and about the quality of Arby's. Parking was $25.00 a day! The only thing positive was the bed.
Positives: The bed was wonderful. I slept like a baby!
Negatives: The room was very small. The food was terrible, and way over priced. My shower curtain had throw up on it.

All the way from the guy parking your car to the people at the front desk to the bartender to the wait staff, everyone at this hotel goes out of there way to see to your comfort. Great room greater atrium, great location.
Positives: Great interior, sky light cathedral ceilings awesome!
Negatives: Pricey restaurant, good but a little pricey for a business traveler these days.

I was surprised that the room was very very dirty. Many trash on the floor and worms in bathroom. They hadn't cleaned the room after previous guests used it. There was a someone's underwear in the bathroom! Besides, the room was very noisy (may be it was a sound of air conditioner). I couldn't sleep in the room. Sure, I asked the staff to change the room next day, but the staff made a disagreeable face!
Positives: Lobby was beautiful.
Negatives: Room was very dirty and noisy.

I would definitely stay there again. I would, however, like to see at least a Jacuzzi put in somewhere. Somewhere that does not hinder the historic value of the hotel. The price was a little high for what I am used to, but the best for what I was looking for. It was suggested to me to stay at the Regency Hotel due to the NNEP show that was in town, but the price was higher there.
Positives: The historic of it were interesting to me and the rooms were so homey.
Negatives: It would have been nice to have a pool or a Jacuzzi and better TV reception on local channels.

If you like historic buildings then this place is for you. The location is great. It is within walking distance to all the downtown activities. However if you are looking for a hotel with more entertainment then perhaps you should check elsewhere. There is no pool, exercise room, or restaurants.
Positives: The hotel is in a great location. It is located within walking distance of all the downtown attractions.
Negatives: This hotel is not for young people. It does not have a pool or gym or any entertainment.

Very disappointed in my family's stay. I think that somewhere in the information we should know that the hotel is under major renovation. My family was put in a room that I would consider in the "dungeon."
Positives: The valet was extremely nice.
Negatives: Under construction, put us in the dungeon, lots of areas still in old status.

If you are going for romantic ambiance, and gorgeous, charming details, this is the hotel for you. If you, however, would like to sleep at night, the trains just outside your window are too loud, and single pane glass does almost nothing to abate the noise.
Positives: It was beautiful -- gorgeous entry, building with high ceilings.
Negatives: The trains in the adjacent switch yard were LOUD!

The Union Station hotel is an excellent value in Nashville. The rooms are spacious and beautifully appointed. Do not expect a scenic view of downtown Nashville; instead savor the railroad history in the refurbished lobby and enjoy the beautiful spiral staircase off of the lobby. The hotel is close to most tourist destinations or if where you want to go is not within walking distance the hotel staff will take you there in the van. My daughters and I loved staying in this hotel during our 4 week long driving trip.
Positives: Our room was spacious and very comfortable. The hotel was very accommodating and had a van to take us to different parts of Nashville.
Negatives: Some people would not like the train sounds but it did not bother us.

The location, though near downtown is in an area where bums hang out, so they are walking outside all the time and the trains run all night long just behind the hotel, noisy.
Positives: Bad neighborhood, bums walking around, there are trains that go throughout the night.
Negatives: Great lobby, room were a little dirty, need renovating.

Great location to the city, stay would have been better if construction was finished. For the money I spent it was worth it, but I am not sure that I would not choose the Marriott downtown by 2nd ave as my first choice.
Positives: The Grand entrance is amazing, to bad it was under construction.
Negatives: The room was not as hot as the hotel, I had higher expectations of the room.

Once renovation is complete, this will be a great place to stay. The work being done at the hotel greatly affected the amenities.
Positives: Perfect location. Very historic.
Negatives: The hotel was undergoing major renovation work, which closed the majority of shops and restaurants in it.

If you want a decent view from your room, be sure to ask for it. Our room overlooked the inside of pigeon stained arch about 3 feet from the window. If we ducked down we could see the railroad tracks where the occasional drunk would stumble by. The room itself was ok. The lobby is very unique. It is within a healthy walk of the nightclub area (plus they offered a free shuttle that we did not use). The staff we encountered were neither rude nor pleasant. They all seemed rather distracted.
Positives: Beautiful lobby. Good location.
Negatives: Views from lower rooms. Pricey for what you get.

It was beautiful. I will definitely go back!
Positives: it was spectacular with all historicalness
Negatives: i was given the wrong key at first and walked into an occupied room
