The location wasn't bad, but the tile in the shower was gross.
Positives: The front desk staff was nice.
Negatives: The title in the shower area was absolutely gross.

Although, the hotel was clean and convenient, the staff was not overly friendly, the carpet in the common areas and room was stained and worn, the bathroom very old and worn out looking. The bed had fresh smelling sheets, the place we were headed to was conveniently located. It is listed a within walking distance of historic Charleston. It is not. Although, the historic district is close, it is not close enough to walk to. Pool was small but clean and nice.
Positives: Convenient location for meetings held in the area.
Negatives: Limited parking.

Front desk staff was rude, inexperienced and very slow. The floors appeared to have not been cleaned and the bathroom was very dirty, I was afraid to walk without shoes or to even touch anything.
Positives: The breakfast buffet had many options.
Negatives: The check-in process took 20 minutes. We couldn't rent a movie from the TV because it was broken. The bathroom was dirty.

This hotel was perfect for my purpose: moving my daughter out of her dorm for the summer. We moved some things into a storeroom and the rest into my car. We needed a place to sleep, close to the campus. Charleston hotels are very expensive, especially if one is only there to sleep. The hotel is in a convenient location; the staff was wonderful and the price much better through Priceline.
Positives: The staff was friendly and "out of the way" helpful.
Negatives: Air conditioner - no matter the setting, it was on and off all of the time.

I think for the trip at hand this hotel was an alright deal. No frills. The breakfast was really good, just really crowded. This place had the slowest elevator ever. Time consuming and annoying! But other than that we can't complain!
Positives: Continental breakfast &
Negatives: Slow elevator, crowded breakfast. Hard to find a seat!

Our overall experience was just ok. Our room was nice however the elevators were shakey and very slow, the hallway smelled as if it had flooded and they had blowers trying to dry the carpets. It rained over 6" on our stay there and the streets flooded us in and we were unable to come or go for a day.
Positives: The price.
Negatives: The hallway smelled as if it had flooded.

The room smelled of cigarette smoke, and it smelled awful, and I'm saying this as a smoker, so you can imagine the intensity of the stench. You couldn't open a window, and no fan option on the AC unit, so it's just suffer! The shower and bathroom had no ledge whatsoever, so every shower made a lake of water in the bathroom, which we had to mop up with bath towels after each shower. We later found out it was a handicap accessible shower. The ice machine on our floor was broken. The map quest and goggle directions to the hotel didn't work because the main road to the hotel was flooded (due to poor construction, not rain). We had decaf coffee in the room, but no normal coffee. There was no remote control for the TV, we had to call to get a new one. The elevators were extremely slow. The hotel (Comfort Inn in Charleston) is a classic example of a lower level hotel with no competition, which therefore means that they do not have a need to keep the hotel up to par.
Positives: Just the staff.
Negatives: NA.

The accommodations exceeded my expectations; the staff was helpful beyond the necessary and normal. As a tall person, over 6 feet, the shower head being high was a pleasant thing. That coupled with a free flowing drain made showering after returning from the beach a pleasant experience.
Positives: Location and staff, comfortable beds, shower, and breakfast that was included.
Negatives: Mushrooms growing in hallway, to their credit it were immediately and effectively dealt with.

Good location. Limited breakfast offering. Best option was waffles but wait was always very long as they are made on a per request basis. Room not fully cleaned or restocked each day. Had no towels on second evening. Security brought two pool towels. Multiple housekeeping issues.
Positives: Location and proximity to area attractions.
Negatives: Had horrible experience with people being loud, partying, drinking and smoking in hall from 11pm-3am. Hotel staff called but to no effect.

I will never stay here again! Room smelled really bad! I've seen cleaner bathrooms at gas stations! Stains on carpets, spider webs in corners. Security guard sleeping in lobby, drunk people was making pool and surrounding plants dirty.
Positives: Liked being on the 3rd floor, view wasn't too bad.
Negatives: Poorly taken care of.

Our stay at this hotel was enjoyable. It met our expectations as a clean, comfortable, and affordable place to stay. Location was within a short drive from the Historic District (not walk able, though). The staff was friendly and polite. Our room was clean and the decor was pleasant. We really appreciated the free internet access. I would recommend this hotel to folks who don't need extravagance, just the basics, like me and my husband!
Positives: Clean and comfortable. Free parking. Free internet. Good complimentary breakfast.
Negatives: View of river is blocked by condominiums. Not enough seating in dining area for breakfast (a little crowded).

During a complete blackout of the hotel and then partial power (halls only), we received no information, etc from staff. Additionally, they offered no courtesy (late checkout, note under door, discounted or free future stay, etc) for the inconvenience.
Positives: Location and breakfast.
Negatives: Extremely poor emergency response.
