Nice hotel, easy to get to and close to downtown and west of the Ashley.

Positives: Nice view of the river and boat anchorages.

Negatives: Bath tub drained too slowly.

For the price it was a super deal.

Positives: The room was clean and view beautiful.

Negatives: Breakfast charge not affordable with young children.

My family and I where in the Charleston area for a week vacation and stayed here. With the hotel being round, the rooms are not square and a little smaller, but we had 2 adults and 2 children and did fine. We had excellent views and very friendly staff. They provided what ever you needed when you needed it. Plenty of parking just be careful in understanding the layout of the entrance and exits from the hotel. If not, you are likely to be in an accident. The pool area was very nice, but I would recommend they need more chairs and lounge chairs. The pool is off of the 3rd level so you also get a great view, but can be a little windy. We had a wonderful stay and would recommend for a family. Downfall, no refrigerator or microwave in rooms. Microwave available in lobby.

Positives: Great views, very clean, 9 miles from Folly Beach, and great for family.

Negatives: WiFi can be a little slow at night with many users, learn in and out of driveways can be dangerous at times.

Hotel was status quo until next morning when I asked for a receipt of stay; front desk clerk acted as though I had asked her for a loan; very insulting.

Positives: Convenient.

Negatives: Could not get out of lot safely due to freeway traffic.

This is an old hotel in the "circular" design of the '70's-'80's. Consequently the rooms are awkwardly designed and no amount of fresh paint and new furnishings can improve the overall experience. We had to be moved to another room as the air conditioning/heating unit was separated from the wall. It was a safety hazard and the room should never have been rented until it was fixed. For the extra money, I should have stayed downtown at one of the nicer hotels as this one was a terrible value. Frankly, I'll never stay at another Holiday Inn again.

Positives: Convenient to downtown Charleston. Nice view of the river.

Negatives: The front desk staff were rude. The room's air conditioning/heating unit was separated from the wall when we checked in.

Perfectly rated by Priceline.

Positives: Very clean, nice view, and easy drive to downtown Charleston.

Negatives: A bit dated.

This hotel was in a great location near not only the water, but also Musicand the Citadel. Has access to both side of the highway, which made it easy to travel. Also the shuttle was very helpful getting us to nearby locations.

Positives: Great location and views from the rooms.

Negatives: The hotel restaurant had very poor service and the food is a bit overpriced.

Reviewer: Not provided on Sun 02 Jan 2011 rated 7 out of 10.

The hotel was centrally located near downtown and provided transportation to most tourist attractions. It was clean and was undergoing renovations at the time of our stay.

Positives: I enjoyed the location and view of downtown.

Negatives: Lack of soundproofing in room. Was on 11th floor and could hear constant road noise.

Reviewer: Not provided on Fri 12 Nov 2010 rated 6 out of 10.

Nice hotel for the money but watch out they charge for snacks in the bar and the drinks are small.

Positives: Location just off the highway into Charleston.

Negatives: It shows its age.

I've stayed at this Holiday Inn in the past, but it had been recently remodeled and looked very nice. It's convenient to the historic district, but less than half the price of staying at one of the historic downtown hotels. Overall, a fantastic deal.

Positives: Recently remodeled and well-maintained.

Negatives: The parking lot was a bit tricky to get out of due to traffic.

Reviewer: Not provided on Mon 11 Oct 2010 rated 7 out of 10.

Great location but very old, needs face lift and renovations to facilities and rooms.

Positives: Location, proximity to town.

Negatives: Old property, needs renovation.

This was a very nice trip with everyone being accommodating, friendly, and helpful to us. The down comforter made the night sleep restful with the weight of it and the exact warmth you need.

Positives: Bedding.

Negatives: Bathroom door.

This hotel was worth the money we paid on Priceline, I don't know that I would pay the full price for it. When we arrived at 3 pm we had to wait about an hour to check into our room, which was fine. Around 1 in the morning I had some drunk banging on our door insisting that we were in her room, I ended up calling security. It was a very noisy floor - I could hear thru the walls. But overall it was a decent place to stay that isn't to far from downtown.

Positives: The view was good from our floor. It is close to Folly Beach and not to far from downtown.

Negatives: The driveway out of the hotel was a bit tricky, especially in the morning when there was more traffic.

It was easy to get downtown or to the beach from this hotel. Overall, a nice hotel. The breakfast buffet was okay, but nothing spectacular.

Positives: The location was great.

Negatives: The breakfast buffet was only okay.

Reviewer: Not provided on Fri 23 Jul 2010 rated 8 out of 10.

Staff was very nice. I liked the free parking.

Positives: Loved the bedding and the refrigerator/microwave.

Negatives: Pool was not attractive or up to level of rest of hotel, also no jacuzzi.

Clean hotel with good location as alternative to over priced historic district hotels. Friendly and helpful staff.

Positives: Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful.

Negatives: Bathroom did not have a vent and became very steamy with shower.

Great staff and very clean facility. Would definitely stay again, the hotel has gone through some great upgrades that really have made this a great property to stay in.

Positives: Parking was free and adequate, the staff was great and extremely friendly.

Negatives: Access to the highway can be a little tricky.

Great location, close to the hospital and downtown Charleston.

Positives: Wonderful views.

Negatives: The overall experience of the room was not good. Carpet seemed dirty. No ventilation and stuffy room.

i thought we would be in the historic dist. It was not! The hotel was old and dingy. Would not stay here again.

Positives: Price

Negatives: The hotel is old and dingy.

The bed was very nice. It was very comfortable and there were choices of pillows both firm and soft laid out to choose from. There were also complimentary bottles of water and snacks in our room when we checked in. The shower/toilet area was a little smaller but the bed was really nice. I would definitely stay here again.

Positives: The bed was very comfortable and they had several pillows, both firm and soft. The room was very clean.

Negatives: The toilet/shower area was a little small.

I like the new Holiday Inn brand. It has been spiffed up and has a nice logo and a nice air to it. The hotel is round with lots of good views. It worked out as a good place to stay as compared to the extremely high priced hotels and inns in Charleston (particularly during Spoleto).

Positives: Free and ample parking and Internet. Fairly priced snacks.

Negatives: It was not in the town of Charleston. It was across the river, but still convenient to the town.

Reviewer: Not provided on Fri 16 Apr 2010 rated 10 out of 10.

Overall, this Holiday Inn met our expectations. Was clean, comfortable and quiet. Well worth the price.

Positives: Cleanliness and quiet.

Negatives: Mini-fridge would be nice.

Reviewer: Not provided on Sat 27 Mar 2010 rated 6 out of 10.

Typical "round" hotel with a restaurant on top. Stayed in one, you've stayed in them all.

Positives: Staff was helpful.

Negatives: Handicap accessible bathroom wasn't very accessible, but none are.

Reviewer: Not provided on Mon 08 Mar 2010 rated 9 out of 10.

The property is a little dowdy, but it has been in operation since the 1980's. King rooms are great. Doubles not so great, especially for a business traveler needing work space, as only a small round table and two wooden chairs provide all seating.

Positives: Location is excellent, if you like West Ashley.

Negatives: Hard to pull out of parking lot due to blind spot for oncoming traffic.

Reviewer: Not provided on Tue 24 Nov 2009 rated 10 out of 10.

Great location, near downtown although not in the historic district. Excellent restaurants short driving distance. FREE parking. Wonderful view of Ashley River and Yacht club. Staff seems sincerely happy to be there and assist you in any way.

Positives: View

Negatives: Location, dangerous in and out busy highway.

Reviewer: Not provided on Sun 25 Oct 2009 rated 9 out of 10.

This Holiday Inn occupies a beautiful site on the Ashley River overlooking the historic section of Charleston. The shuttle service makes touring the city convenient, even though the driver was not as helpful as some of the other staff. If you like being close to what you came to see, this is a good choice of hotel.

Positives: Location, view from the room was quiet.

Negatives: Heating unit, staff at Rooftop Restaurant and shuttle bus driver.

Reviewer: Not provided on Thu 01 Oct 2009 rated 8 out of 10.

Good location close to downtown area and Folly Beach. Small but clean accomodations at a reasonalble price.

Positives: Convenient location to Folly Beach area.

Negatives: Patios were locked closed and pool direction signs incorrect.

Reviewer: Not provided on Mon 06 Jul 2009 rated 9 out of 10.

Obviously a radical design that stunned Charleston 35 years ago. Tired old building with worn out infrastructure lovingly maintained by devoted staff. Right on the approach to the old bridge crossing Ashley River onto The Peninsula. One of the earliest Holiday Inns. Redo HVAC and improve restaurant and this place would be amazing.

Positives: Wonderful view. Unique imaginative design made views from all windows.

Negatives: Hot. (Charleston, SC in July) AC was weak. This circular tower is basically a chimney. Roof restaurant was too hot for comfortable eating.

Reviewer: Not provided on Thu 04 Jun 2009 rated 1 out of 10.

I'm very upset, period. I drove 5 hours to stay in a nice room in a beautiful town and get engaged. Nothing romantic about what I received.

Positives: Nothing.

Negatives: The room I paid good money for was not there when I arrived and they made no attempt to satisfy me.

Reviewer: Not provided on Tue 03 Jun 2008 rated 8 out of 10.

The view of Charleston from across the river was spectacular, especially at night from the restaurant at the top floor. The room was comfortable and had a classy decor. Although we didn't request the service, I thought it was a nice touch that they have pillow service where you can select the type of pillow you would like. The only thing I didn't like was that the sliding glass door to the balcony was permanently locked and access to the balcony was not allowed. I like to open a window for fresh air and couldn't. Other than that everything was fantastic. Service couldn't be better. Restaurant was fabulous for a relatively inexpensive and quick breakfast buffet. Great service at the bar at night. Superb location. All around great Charleston hotel. We will return!

Positives: The view from the restaurant was spectacular, especially at night with all the lights reflecting on the water.

Negatives: The room had a very tiny balcony in which access to was not allowed and there was no way to open the window for fresh air.

Everything at this hotel was fine. The walls were a little thin. The only complaint I really have is that I left a dress at the hotel in the wardrobe and when I called back to have it sent to me, they had not found it and did not have it.

Positives: It was convenient, nice, and a clean hotel.

Negatives: Paid for breakfast bar but the eggs were old and by the time I they were replenished I was through with my breakfast. Not worth $7.50.

Hotel had mildew smell. Construction all over. Pressure washing was going on, therefore everything was basically shut down and you had to listen to them yelling, banging equipment until late in the evening. No accommodation were provided to make up for the inconvenience. Absolutely worst hotel stay I had in Charleston.

Positives: Absolutely Nothing.

Negatives: Worst place to say in Charleston. Way too expensive for what you get.

Our stay was pleasant, all the staff was most courteous and helpful. Would be nice if the shuttle made a later pickup. The only unpleasant experience was our room # 142 was located under the dinning area, Staff still had their duties after closing, and it was late both nights before we could sleep, I would stay here again just a different room.

Positives: Room layout and view from the dinning area

Negatives: Located on a narrow strip of land between two highways. No where to walk but parking lot

The customer service during my stay was excellent. The hotel is well located with ample free parking and nicely sized rooms. My only complaint, and it would stop me from choosing this hotel again, was that it smelled badly. I think it was a poor choice of cleaning products possibly combined with dirty carpets. The first room I was placed in smelled so badly that I had to be moved to another room. The second room was better, but the entire hotel had a mildly unpleasant odor. All of the staff was very gracious in handling my complaint.

Positives: Excellent location, view, convenient.

Negatives: Very unpleasant odor, perhaps the cleaning products.
