Hotel was in great location! Easy to get around and close to dining. It is a Day's Inn, so I would not stay there for quality. But, the price ($120.00 a night) was better than any other hotel (closer to $300.00 a night). We did have to switch rooms because the first room did not have a working mini- fridge, but the rooms were clean and AC worked great!

Positives: Loved the location. Very close to the market!
Negatives: Bathroom was dated. other than that it was clean and cheap!

This hotel's principal selling point is its great location in the Charleston historic district. However it appears that management is putting little or no money into its upkeep and it shows in the poor quality of the finishing details and in poor pest control.
Positives: Great location.
Negatives: Shabby and we saw three large roaches in or near our room.

Price was right, location was right, rooms were out dated.
Positives: Location
Negatives: Old, poor TV, out of date bath.

The hotel was right next to the market and in a very good location. It was hard to get passed all of the people standing outside the rooms smoking, and the area around the vending machine smelled badly. I'm also not used to being asked whether I want my room cleaned, but the housekeeping staff asked me as I returned from an early morning meeting. The bed was comfortable, and the room was clean enough, but I was very unhappy when the water heater broke on the last night I was there. I couldn't take an evening shower and had to wash up in cold water the next morning. The staff offered no apology for this and left the discovery of the problem up to the guests instead of calling and/or leaving a note to inform us. It almost seemed as though they weren't surprised by the management's lack of concern.
Positives: Good location.
Negatives: Wednesday night the water heater broke and still wasn't fixed Thursday morning - I couldn't shower, and the staff offered no apology.

The rooms were extremely dark and small. I took approximately 20 minutes to get warm water. The rooms we were assigned could not have been in a worse location. One room was right next to the reception area (continuous noise) and the other was located a the very back of the hotel, through a breezeway and down an alley, a considerable distance from where we could park. If we were walk-ins that day, I could understand getting the rooms we got but we did book 2 rooms through Priceline at the end of October and expected better.
Positives: The location of the hotel was excellent. Right in the heart of the Historic District.
Negatives: The room and bed was very small. The furniture was not clean.

Charming older property located in the heart of downtown Charleston. Very good value considering the location.
Positives: Charming older property conveniently located to downtown Charleston.
Negatives: The property does not have enough parking spaces for the number of rooms.

This is a great hotel for a cheap and quick getaway with friends. We didn't go to charleston to stay in the hotel room. It was perfect for the amount of time we spent in the room. The bathroom was small but clean.
Positives: The location was great and the price was far less.
Negatives: The hotel is dated but the location and price a great!

Hotel is not extremely impressive, but its in the middle of the downtown historical charleston district..we literally parked our car in our free parking space and didn't have to use our car again until we checked out 3 days later. We were able to walk everywhere to restaurants, bars, attractions, etc..its 1/2 a block from the market downtown, and walking distance to the waterfront park, the battery, rainbow row, college of charleston, etc.)
Positives: Location, Hotel was walking distance to everything downtown!
Negatives: Worn out, outdated, shabby.

Best location possible for the price. Great place to crash.
Positives: Location, air conditioning.
Negatives: Pets only allowed in smoking room.

There were ants in the room, a full coffee cup in the microwave, sticky, stained sheets. The location was good, but that was the only good thing about it.
Positives: Llocation
Negatives: Iit was the worst, dirtiest hotel I've ever stayed in.

The first time I stayed it was about a 3. One month later, it was dirty, trash cans were overflowing all over the hotel. The staff was nice. Parking was not conducive to large vehicles like a truck or very large SUV
Positives: Location
Negatives: Trash cans full, roaches, air conditioner had water on floor.

The girls at the front desk were very arrogant and almost rude. The late night guy was fine. In general the place seemed to be doing good business so they really didn't care if they met your needs or not.
Positives: The location
Negatives: The rooms; water backed up in the tub and it was very cramped in the room.
Reviewer: Not provided on Thu 14 Aug 2008 rated 4 out of 10.
The first room I had was very bad. After I notified, the office they sent a maintenance man and finally moved me to another room. The AC problem was very obvious (floor totally soaked) and they should not have used it. Otherwise it was what I expected.
Positives: Good location. Quick, easy checkout.
Negatives: TV remote did not work. AC leaked water onto floor-very wet.

The location is great and it has a pool. But if you are looking for something a bit nicer, do stay here.
Positives: I liked its proximity to the hot spots.
Negatives: The rooms were small and bathrooms.

I would stay here again, for the fact that its downtown and you can stumble back from the bars in minutes. If you are just looking for a place to sleep, this is a good stay.
Positives: Convenient location if you want to hangout downtown. Close to all the bars, restaurants & shopping. Free parking is a bonus! Staff is friendly.
Negatives: The bathrooms need updating. Walls and floors look rundown.

Not a romantic hotel, definitely not luxury, but if you want to experience historic Charleston with money left in your pocket, this is the place to stay. Easy walking distance to most historic sites/attractions/shopping/restaurants.
Positives: Great location for historic district.
Negatives: Very limited parking. Leave for any reason and no space left.

The days inn Charleston historic district is the perfect location, within walking distance to the market, many shops and great restaurants. The staff is very friendly and helpful, but the ambiance of the room is lacking.
Positives: Location, location, location!
Negatives: Cigarette burns in tub.

Very poor would never stay there again. Staff was accommodating and friendly. Not enough parking and I had to park in a parking garage around the corner. Bathroom had mildew in the tub. Carpet was dirty. Coffee maker was old and dirty. Bedding was outdated and worn. Paint was peeling from the ceiling. TV was probably 20 years old the remote was broken and it was so small I had to sit in a chair up close to watching it.
Positives: Location.
Negatives: Not well maintained and musty smelling. Outdated and in need of a serious upgrade.

The room did smell a little funny the first night, but by the next morning and the rest of the time there, we did not notice a smell. Location was awesome. Reception desk lady could have been more personable, but the cleaning staff was great.
Positives: Location was awesome.
Negatives: Bathroom was not well lit, smelled funny at first.

This room was definitely not worth the money I paid. It smelled. The chair was too dirty to sit on. The battery kept chirping in the smoke detector. I had to take it off the wall and to the office for a new battery. There was no shower curtain. I had to go get one and put it up. Bed was not a queen, but rather a full. Micro fridge did not work. No iron in the room, but has an iron holder. Had coffee pot and coffee, but outlet didn't work. Not enough outlets in room. Extension cord seemed to overload as I tried to plug up an iron that I had thankfully brought. The room was in serious need of electrical updating. TV was tiny. I was given a handicap room which made for a nice big bathroom; however, I am not handicapped and have no sticker and therefore could not park in front of my room. As far as location goes, it was wonderful. However, there is a public parking lot almost directly across the street and you can park your car there for $7.00 per day. As I was checking out, I heard another customer complaining that their shower took an hour to drain and the commode was not working in their room. I also told the front clerk that the micro fridge did not work in my room. Her only comment to each of us was, "I'm sorry." I would not stay here again or recommend it to anyone.
Positives: Staff was friendly and helpful, but had to address issues that should have been addressed before my arrival.
Negatives: Needs some very serious updating especially electrically.

This was a great place. Close to everything we wanted to see and do. The staff working at the front desk when we checked in was very friendly. We had a no hassle check out too. Thanks.
Positives: Great restaurant and location was perfect for what we wanted. Would definitely stay again
Negatives: Nothing, it was great.

I would definitely stay there again. I was very pleased with the location and the staff was friendly; unfortunately, the restaurant gets mixed breakfast reviews. My order of country gravy and biscuits was Nasty, Nasty. My son's omelet plate was great.
Positives: It was near the market.
Negatives: The room had a Smokey smell; not enough parking spaces.

I paid 170.00 for one night in this hotel. The room smelled, the carpet was worm and dirty, the bathroom was old and in poor repair. Access to the room was inconvenient. The door stuck and would hardly close. I feel like I should have gotten this room for under $75.00 a night, not $170.00.
Positives: The location was excellent.
Negatives: The room smelled, the carpet was old and dirty, the bathroom was old.

Great location with a very fair price. Very close to market street and within easy walking distance to most of the historic areas. Parking was convenient and had a small clean pool, perfect for cooling off.
Positives: Great location, good price.
Negatives: Late check in.

It was a great location. It was kind of pricey but all of Historic Charleston is. Overall I enjoyed the place.
Positives: It was walking distance to local areas.
Negatives: They were painting the lobby area.
