Excellent hotel with a helpful staff.

It is not like a 4th stars hotel.
Positives: Good location.
Negatives: Some towels are missing, bath room looks not quite clean.

The Westin staff was gracious, the hotel is centrally located and loved the easy access to the mall.
Positives: The staff was so friendly.
Negatives: The jacuzzi by the pool looked a little gross.

Mediocre, the room was very small. I had to change the room to another one on the third floor and it only had a half window, felt like a room in a basement. the bed was very comfortable though. Breakfast is over priced, 21$ after tax. the omelet station was not working. No one seated me until I asked and no one came by with coffee and had to ask for it. The waiter was not attentive at all with a poker face.
Positives: location
Negatives: The bed was too narrow to be called Queen bed. I had to change the room.ended up in a smoking floor since that room was the only one available.

Great stay, clean and very comfortable.
Positives: Connected to shopping mall; sparking inexpensive.
Negatives: Had to pay for Internet.

Best-valued luxury hotel in the 50-mile radius. We re-routed our tour location to make way to stay at this place instead of over-priced Newport / vineyard / cape cod resorts and got what we expected.
Positives: Value, location, and quality of bed lining.
Negatives: 1) incomplete wireless internet infrastructure. 2) lack of parking assistance / fee discount.

The hotel has good location for business. Westin is a good brand, but this location did not live up to expectation at all. The staffs were not friendly, more mechanical. Right from the bellman who was not forthcoming to take the luggage in immediately. The front desk lady was outright discriminatory. Requesting for ID several times. A decision to leave cash deposit by guest meant your ID had to be photocopied according to her in case the guest did not pay for anything so that they can send it to the address. I wondered since when did cash-in hand become useless not to pay for bills.
Positives: The location. Next door mall. Nearby bus station if you need to go to other places where taxis are not easily available.
Negatives: Operator hardly pick call for help at night. The bed hurtst. Not friendly.

It was fine. Valet parking expensive.
Positives: Clean.
Negatives: Would not accommodate our request for a king size bed. I am sure there were some available.

Very conveniently located. The staff all seemed like they were in training. I wanted to put incidentals ($26 parking, waters, mini bar ect.)on a separate card than the one I used to purchase the room. They charged both cards they had on file, then I had to call management and my bank when I got home. The cleanliness of the room appeared to be clean, but then if you pay attention to detail it was dirty.
Positives: The lobby.
Negatives: Cleanliness and the staff seemed like they were all in training.

An older hotel that has been renovated well. The staff was courteous and very professional, but parking is awkward and expensive. Nice central location in downtown Providence. I was in room of the west tower and could hear the elevators going up and down all night long. If my stay had been longer, I would have requested a room change. Nice older luxury hotel but not quite 4 stars and not worth the retail price. For the discounted rate I got, it as acceptable.
Positives: Staff was very professional and courteous. Everyone from the from desk to housekeeping were great.
Negatives: Room was noisy, Heard the elevator going up and down all night long.

Great location, staff went above and beyond with directions, lent me a Blackberry charger (forgot mine at home). Upgraded me into a king corner suite.
Positives: Friendly staff and helpful.
Negatives: No free WiFi in room, no ice bucket.

Very inconvenient parking. Had to take two elevators and two flights of stairs to reach fitness center and chilly pool.
Positives: Convenient to downtown.
Negatives: Inconvenient parking.

Positives: Very convenient to many downtown attractions.
Negatives: Very expensive restaurants in the hotel.

Trying hard to be luxury but falls a bit short. You can tell times are tough in Providence. Most of the little things that make a luxury hotel are overlooked here, no concierge, no turn down service, nothing in the in-room mini-bar, crappy towels, etc.
Decent enough place but certainly not worth 4 stars
Positives: Very comfortable bed.
Negatives: Pitiful water pressure for a heavenly shower.

Parking and Wi-Fi charges add up, since neither is offered free. Other than that, we had no complaints. Our room was nice, and the hotel was convenient. We had a lovely view of the State House.
Positives: The room was beautiful and clean, and the bed was, as they say, heavenly.
Negatives: Guests have to use their key cards to operate the elevator, and more clear instructions are needed. Guests often get stuck in the elevators!

It was 11:30 pm and the bathroom toilet overflowed. Front desk couldn't find the person responsible for fixing it. At 12:30 am went to front desk, manager on duty offered me a room key to another room so we could use the bathroom, problem is, it was on a different floor.
Positives: Hotel location was the best.
Negatives: Bathroom toilet was broken and overflowed.

Excellent location, nice amenities, parking is an extra fee of $22 per day. Restaurant was not family friendly - did not eat there.
Positives: Location was excellent.
Negatives: Staff seemed less than enthusiastic to meet our room needs.

Great hotel. Poor response from the staff to correct the issue with the air conditioner. The equipment and response from the staff proved otherwise.
Positives: Atmosphere.
Negatives: Air conditioner within the room failed to work.

It was a great place except for the bathroom lighting. Although there was plenty of it - very bright - it was fluorescent or something that made one look green and brought out every uncomplimentary spot or shade in your skin. There was nothing in the room to counter that, except by the window and we had stayed there for a wedding so I actually wanted to look good. very weird.
Positives: Great location, very quiet room for mid-city, great view.
Negatives: Lighting was awful for makeup, we looked GREEN - awkward!

Other then a protest from the hotel's union at 5:30 am the hotel was what you expect. When asked what the protest was for the front desk only said it was a union of the hotel. I believe such a large hotel would easily negotiate with unions, so as not to get complaints from customers.
Positives: The location of the hotel being directly downtown is the key.
Negatives: Hotel signage is very poor. Parking was great once you find it.

Hotel is great, good area of providence, excellent place to stay for water fire. midnight fire alarms and $26/night to park is incredibly expensive for RI (I fully expected no charge to park) those things kinda put a damper on what was supposed to be a relaxing romantic night for two people who deserved and looked forward to a special night
Positives: Location, comfortable bed, wonderful shower.
Negatives: Fire alarms in middle of night, super expensive to park.

Excellent front desk and bell staff. Helpful and friendly despite crowd at check-in due to a convention next door. Roving management staff were engaging and helpful - nice touch!
Positives: Very helpful and friendly staff.
Negatives: Hard to keep the room cool with unusually warm fall days.

We would stay at this hotel again and also recommend it for any type of function. Their ballroom is wonderful. Friendly staff and very helpful. Comfortable bed the most important point.
Positives: Large bathroom, clean comfortable bed.
Negatives: Difficult to access the parking garage due to one way streets. Don't miss your turn.

Negatives: Parking was pricey.

The hotel has a nice appeal but however is not the friendliest people. They were extremely rude to me and would not answer the phone when calling the desk. The hotel was uncomfortable and very expensive they had a very limited variety of food they charge 8.00 for macaroni and cheese but their attitude was the worst of all.
Positives: Nice hotel, very rude and very poor service.
Negatives: The staff is rude and very unhelpful.

Overall the hotel was what we have expected. Our only concerns were that the A/C was broken and we found the room temperature was not consisted which woke us up many times throughout the night.
Positives: The employees where polite, courteous and helpful when asked about how to get around the city. When there was a problem they acted quickly.
Negatives: The A/C in our hotel room was frozen solid and the temp in the new room we received was not steady. We were hot and cold throughout the night.

The staff were not very helpful. They were in fact a bit on the rude side. On the day of check out I needed to call the front desk, and was actually charged nearly $3 for the use of the room phone to contact the front desk, which I disputed, while my husband waited for me in the car. They finally took the charge off, but were not very gracious about it, and while it was only $3.00, this was the end of a long list of nickel and dimming that had gone on. Parking, as is sometimes the case in a large city was $18.00 a night if you parked your own car and left it in for the duration. It was $26.00 to valet park or to get a pass to take it out as you wish. The on site restaurant that allegedly serves breakfast, did not even have a hostess at the station to seat us, nor did anyone show up in the time we waited for someone to acknowledge our presence and seat us. There was a dead bird on the sidewalk in the front by the lobby upon arrival and while there were various attendants standing around no one felt it necessary to deal with the dead bird.
Positives: The location was the best thing about this hotel.
Negatives: The air conditioning in our room was not operating properly. The carpets in the hall were stained and made me feel that cleanliness wasn't a priority.
Reviewer: Not provided on Thu 20 Aug 2009 rated 7 out of 10.
We changed rooms due an air conditioning issue. The same issue occurred in the next room. The rooms are very hot because they will not allow the thermostat to go below 66. The room was nice, flat screen TV's. The hallways were not very clean and the room service tray sat outside all day.
Positives: Location.
Negatives: Air conditioning.
