It is an older, historic hotel. Overall it seems to be well maintained. The rooms were very nice with two queen beds.
Positives: The waiter in the restaurant, was fabulous!
Negatives: They were doing construction on the front drive way.

We enjoyed our stay. The hotel was convenient to local attractions. The pool area was old but clean with ample towels. The mattresses were atrocious. The queen beds were nice and the bathroom was clean. We liked that it had a separate sink area so that the three of us could get ready at the same time. The staff recommended a restaurant for breakfast but neglected to tell us it was cash only. I would recommend this hotel.
Positives: location & price
Negatives: the matresses were too soft no support

Rooms were dated but clean. Mattresses and pillows need to be replaced. Bathrooms were also dated.
Positives: Old world atmosphere.
Negatives: Too large.

They gave you the smalles room in the hotel and the bed made noise every time we turned or moved. Bathroom is very small. Overall, we don't like the room at all. We felt like we were staying in someone's kid's room or nanny's room.
Positives: The location is good, walking distance to a lot places.
Negatives: Room is very small and the parking situation.

The Hotel Viking is a beautiful property. The staff was extremely accommodating in every respect, the room was fine with a very large LG high definition TV with a super super picture. Even the car valets were extremely friendly and helpful. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone.
Positives: Just a wonderful high end hotel in every respect.
Negatives: Very expensive dining options.

Upon checking in, was assigned two rooms in the Newport section of the hotel which is not remodeled and feels like a two star hotel. Bathroom had original tub, carpet soiled, beds were uncomfortable. Asked to be upgraded which we were. Since we were too early to check into our rooms, went to the beach nearby. When returning, were assigned two rooms down the hall from one another, a problem since we were two adults and two children. Upgraded rooms in the main section of the hotel. Since I was upset about not being near one another, they dropped the upgrade fee. Okay, that was fine. Second day, cloudy so we went to the pool. Went into the hot tub, whatever it was, it was also in the garbage pail by the clean towels. So grossed out, everyone had to take showers right away. Complained to the hotel desk and was assured in was seaweed.
Positives: The main section of the hotel was nice, liked the roof top music/bar.
Negatives: Pool

Very nice hotel. Some of the rooms are not updated. Staff did not what you would expect from a luxury hotel. Not very attentive. Did not follow through and where overall rude. The hotel is way overpriced for what it offers.
Positives: Good location.
Negatives: Very overpriced. Staff is very unprofessional.

Hotel Viking is a clean, staff friendly hotel with a great location. It has a quaint old fashion feeling but it has all the modern amenities. The guest rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable and made with clean linens, which included a bottom sheet, soft blanket and topped with a down comforter covered in a duvet. The fitness center and pool were well air conditioned with a TV and great work-out machines. I loved staying here.
Positives: I love the friendly staff, bed and bedding were comfortable and quality of the air conditioning.
Negatives: walking to the rooms, although very well marked, was still confusing

This hotel was beautifully renovated and still has an exterior that resembles and fits in with the Newport mansions that are nearby. Parking was convenient but at an extra fee which adds to the cost of your room. Rooms still need some updating but were comfortable.
Positives: The location was perfect for touring Newport on foot.
Negatives: Split bathroom and sink areas.

We thoroughly enjoyed our night at the Hotel Viking. It was a beautiful hotel and we loved the comfy bed and the nice fitness center. The concierge was very helpful too!
Positives: Wonderful four post bed.
Negatives: Having to pay $20 to park.

Classic older hotel with a great location - away from the crowds, with less than a 5 minute walk to the harbor shops and restaurants of Newport. The staff was very attentive, courteous and sharply dressed.
Positives: The staff and atmosphere were both elegant and friendly.
Negatives: Our room was in the new wing of an older, elegant hotel.
