Napatree Point Beach & Conservation Area ( Family Activities / Other Attractions ). After labor day, when the beach crowds and tourists have departed, visit Napatree Point. The long, sweeping views of Little Narragansett Bay and the Atlantic Ocean are beautiful and the water might still be warm enough to enjoy. Once you’re on the beach, turn left just before a sign and climb over a small rise to get to the ocean side. In about a mile, you will reach an area with large rocks sticking out of the sand and water. Look for a steep, sandy “path” that will bring you to the 100+ year old remains of Fort Mansfield. You can turn around here, or make your way back to the rocks and follow along the tip of Napatree Point. Once you’re on the Bay side, be sure to go right at the lagoon to stay to the inside of the cove along the grass line. If not, you’ll reach an area that is only crossable at low tide, and even then you’ll likely be in knee deep – or more!
