Tillamook is the county seat of Tillamook County. The city is located on the southeast end of Tillamook Bay on the Pacific Ocean. It is named for the Native American Tillamook people, a tribe speaking a Salishan language who lived in this area until the early nineteenth century. It is home to the world’s largest wooden structure, the Tillamook Air Museum. The county has the first national wildlife refuge west of the Mississippi and a lighthouse overlooking the state’s largest colony of puffins.
