Chateaulin ( Dining / Other ). Located at 50 East Main Street. Located next door to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival Theaters, Chateaulin Restaurant has been regarded as one of the Pacific Northwest's premier restaurants since opening in 1973. A storefront, it recalls the kind of small, cheerful restaurant in Paris or New York that is elegant yet simple, knowing, yet without pretense. Step through the doors, and the mood is relaxed, charming and romantic: white tablecloths, crystal glassware, deep burgundy carpet, lace curtains, hurricane lamps, fin-de-siecle etched glass partitions, polished wood and a wall covered with prints of belle epoque Paris. Then there's the centerpiece bar that gleams with a holiday light of gold, amber and red, and is topped by a large, handsome stained glass medallion. The bar service is expert, with classic renditions of a Martini, Cosmopolitan, Old Fashioned or Manhattan that are dispatched with great care.
