In the 1780s, Ezekiel Baird settled in Valle Crucis and built what is now the oldest house in Watauga County. With its wide planked walls, original floors, multiple fireplaces and beautifully appointed antique furnishings, the inn has an abundance of history and sense of warm 'Southern Hospitality'.
Our 12 acre grounds include a rustic barn with a brick silo, spacious stone patio furnished with Adirondack chairs and cozy firepit and plenty of porches with rockers.
The clear cool waters of the Watauga River flow past the front yard of The Baird House. Here, one can enjoy flyfishing, tubing, laying on a rock soaking up the sun or simply sitting on the grassy bank with one's toes in the water.
